We stayed at the Blue Lagoon for a week in February. Once you accept that your paying £10 a night for a large room with air conditioning in a perfect location and are realistic enough not to expect the Hilton Hotel you will fall in love its this place, it is typical Cha am, laidback to the point of sleep but also the hub of the community. On Monday is the quiz night well attended by local expats, Tuesday is a darts tournament, both well attended with a buffet. The family that run this place are charming, always a smiling and happy, they can not do enough to help you. When we arrived it was throwing it down with rain, there are very few taxis in Cha am we were stranded under a shop front for over an hour. We phoned the hotel to see if they could call a cab for us he couldn’t get one so came out in the pouring rain on a little scooter. He took us on the back of the scooter one at a time, cases as well it was comical, this shows how far they will go to help you. I offered payment which was declined. Wednesday Cha am closes 😳 but he advised us on food and the night market for the rest of the week. This place is in the centre of Soi Plaza with great places all around and 5 minutes walk to the beach. I highly recommend the Blue Lagoon Guest House and Bar, it is incredible value for money and a lovely place to stay.

I stayed in a 'Standard Room with Fan' (Number 7) for three nights. While airy, clean and comfortable, the room was on the run-down side, with mismatched second-hand furniture and a comic print polyester blanket sans cover only as quilt. The room was on the first floor, and had a cupboard, dressing table, small bar fridge, pedestal fan and TV. Complimentary drinking water was provided. The washbasin was in the room, while shower and toilet were en suite. There was no warm water, and the bathroom door did not close properly. Air vents to an adjacent bathroom ensured you could hear every detail when someone was using it. The free wi-fi was hit and miss. On the plus side, there was no noise from the below bar, and I loved the many windows. The guest house is located off Narathip Road, which leads straight to Cha-am train station in the one direction (approx. 1.7 km), and to the point dividing Cha-am Beach into northern and southern sections in the other (approx. 400 metres), just off the main strip with all the restaurants, bars, bike rentals and whatever else the tourist heart desires. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, in a casual way. My impression was that the bar's their main business, while the guest house is an aside. While there's a range of accommodation options - many of them fancier - available in Cha-am, I cannot fault Blue Lagoon guest house for the price.

The room costed 8 dollars only for booking with Agoda. If you pay cash, it costs 350 baht (10 dollars). It was nice and clean, warm water in the shower, they provided towels and soap. There is enough furniture in the room for all your bags. A small table with a mirror. Good and free wifi. Location is nice, only 5 minutes walking to the beach, or 2 minutes by motorbike. Bad thing was only with our bathroom door. It closed while my husband was inside and could not be opened. So my boyfriend used a knife to open it.

Clean spacious room, comfy bed, excellent shower. Stu made us very welcome & gave us some old towels to take to the beach - 5 minute walk away. The highlight was winning the Tuesday night quiz with some lovely regulars!

We just walked into the first place we saw and when we left a week later we felt that we had been fortunate. The Blue Lagoon's location is excellent, near good restaurants and the beach. Stu, the friendly owner had plenty of information and suggestions on what to see and do in Cha Am. There is a weekly night market, a nearby fishing village with with all the seafood restaurants one could wish for and the Blue Lagoon itself is a laid back hub that has a pub quiz night, dart games and a pool table. We hope to be return visitors.

The owner, Stu, was really friendly and helpful on everything we asked. He also speaks very good English. Room was great for the price. Location is near the beach and markets. You can walk everywhere if you are not afraid of stray dogs. We didn't have any problems with the dogs but there were some nearby. Not much bad to say. We enjoyed our few day stay here with low budget.

When we arrived our rooms had a few bugs, spiders and ants in the room, but not a problem we sorted that out with some bug spray and after that no problems, a little dated could use a refresh but overall close to the beach, stu is a good host and good pub quizzes held with buffet for cheap! Would recommend as great TV channels and view. Just watch the dogs around can be a bit loud so take a stick with you if you go near the fields.

We spent two nights at Blue Lagoon while visiting WFFT and exploring Cha Am. The hotel is in an area where it's possible to walk to many restaurants and the beach. The town is very laid back and we met several kind, helpful people hanging out at the bar area. For the price, the rooms are a great value and the staff was great, We were within walking distance to catch a van to Bangkok upon our departure.
