This hotel is in a peaceful location but within 5 minutes walk of the main streets of Chiang Rai. I am sensitive to noise so I am happy to recommend this as a great choice.

For most people who probably stay in Chiang Rai for a few days, this hotel is perfect; it has a lovely pool and relaxation area, indoor and outdoor with lots of shade. If you want a quick coffee (hot or cold) or a bite to eat, there is a coffee shop and pizzeria right next door! There is an excellent choice at breakfast and a well equipped fitness room.

I stayed at this hotel for 10 days and I enjoyed every minute. The rooms are comfortable with great air con, a fridge, free unlimited bottled water, excellent wifi and an in-room electronic mosquito repelling device which works a treat!

The best thing about this hotel are the staff; I have not experienced the relaxed, attentive, friendly and jovial atmosphere in a hotel before (and I have stayed in many). Throughout my stay I lost count of how many times I heard the staff chatting and laughing among themselves and with the guests, it is a real tonic to hear that.

Having spent a lot of time in and around the hotel I often saw how hard the staff worked even when they thought no one was watching; trust me when I say that there is not a leaf out of place in the lovely gardens! I never once experienced a perfunctory greeting which you often find with hotel staff, every time I spoke to a member of staff, it was genuinely friendly with a desire to help.

The managers at the Nak Nakara should be proud of their staff and congratulated on the happy working environment they have created. Thank you for looking after me.

We originally planned to stay for only one night, but my husband got sick and we needed to stay another. Hotel staff was very helpful in arranging this, making sure we could stay in the same room. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated. WiFi worked well. The mattress on the bed was a little on the hard side. Swimming pool looked inviting, though I didn’t have time to use it. Free snacks and drinks in room and lobby. Free rides to the night market and bus station (though you have to walk back or take a tuk tuk from market). Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful, and personable. They will arrange a driver for you to go to White Temple and other sites for a reasonable fee. If you’re there on a Saturday night, the Walking Street is right around the corner. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was lovely. Rooms spacious and clean, modern with everything you could need. We had a problem with the safe initially, but it was sorted promptly by the efficient and courteous, friendly staff. Pool great with plenty of loungers to sit on, and poolside meal service also available. Breakfast taken in a separate dining room - very good variety and food quality, all included in the price of the room. We also took part in a free cooking lesson (Pad Thai) whilst there which was a lovely diversion from sightseeing.
Hotel in short walking distance of the main part of town, clock tower show, night market with the free cabaret (not to be missed), and all the local streetside restaurants (lovely food cooked in the open, eaten at plastic tables, but delicious!)
Hotel taxi solved our conundrum about onward travel to Huay Xai on the border with Loas. Relatively cheap for the distance, with interesting stops off enroute as we came across things, and of course with the necessary air conditioning!!!

We booked this hotel, at an 850 baht + fees rate at a common hotel booking site, only unbeknownst to us, the site routed us to another well known booking site, which not only cost more, but stripped away the breakfast included deal. The old bait and switch. As I am a frequent traveler, I was not so pleasantly surprised when the receptionist informed us of a price increase and that we would have to pay for breakfast, almost doubling the cost per night. I showed them my booking and they nonchalantly explained that it was common for this to happen. In other words this seems to happen frequently and they didn't bother to edit their online listings or anything. This wasn't a hill worth dying on so we paid the fees and attempted to relax.

The hotel was then simply unable to cope with the surge in customers that weekend ( to be fair a holiday weekend). There were no free bikes available as advertised, food ran out at the breakfast buffet both mornings, and they didn't offer poolside drinks, an easy money maker as it would have been great to have a cold drink and lounge by the pool on a hot day. I understand that there may be low staff during this period, but how difficult is it to have a stocked fridge full of sodas and beers?

All was not bad. The rooms were clean and comfortable (if not slightly dated) and the grounds well kept. I found the staff pleasant and polite. They also have a nice salt water pool, and the location is right in the heart of the city.

This hotel is more suited for those looking for a clean and simple location to bed down for the night or tour groups, and for those looking to spend all day sightseeing, but I would skip if you are looking for a quiet place to relax or a private getaway.

Dear bearanddragonNevada, Thank you so much for your review. We are truly understand how frustating you were in this circumstance. Because of Covid19, we limit many services that can effect spreading the virus. We have no service for pool bar and restaurant now. For breakfsat, we serve mainly a la cart. Nevertheless, we do hope and look forward to deliver full service soon when the situation gets better. We hope that by the end of this year, we could bring the full service standard back to you. For the Room rate, we provide specialty promotion room only 800++ which never happen before. Your room price mention above is room only exclusive breakfast. I do hope you come back again in the future and we try our best to serve you in the new normal way. We do believe that the situation would getting better very soon. Best regards, Nes

I will definitely stay here again. Everything is walkable distance away, and if you can’t walk that far, a cab to the centre is less than THB100 ($3.30). And the tasty snacks they provide free in the lobby are just one example of the relaxed, family feel.
If I have to come up with a negative, the noise from other people’s aircon outside was something of a problem. But I’m a light sleeper and I don’t use earplugs.

Was very excited to visit this hotel, but I truly don't know where all the excellent reviews were. I was a little apprehensive about the reviews where it says the hotel was noisy and that was true but other problems during the stay made this one of the worst hotels I visited during this trip to Thailand.
Breakfast was very deficient, when I asked about eggs nobody told me that there was an egg station outside for some reason, so I could not enjoy the eggs because the staff is clueless.
Lots of mosquitoes in my room and in the lobby, I was eaten alive one afternoon while using the lobby computer.
Ditto on the pool being too cold to enjoy most of the day.
The shower was a fixed handle and you had to bend over to be able to take a shower, very uncomfortable.
There was noise at night coming from the neighbours, this is a complaint that has been written about before.
The free minibar in the room, is one coke and one Sprite, don't get excited.
All in all, a mediocre proposition for which I paid almost USD 100/night! I could have stayed at Le Meridien for that amount.
Upon checkout, they had charged me for one more night and I am still trying to dispute that with my credit card.
Only bright spot was the free shuttle to the airport.... not from the airport. But you can easily take the bus which cost 20 Baht.

Will not return and do not recommend at all!

Dear ranger22SG, Thank you very much for providing us with your valuable feedback through TripAdvisor. Please accept my most sincere and personal apologies for the extremely disappointing and upsetting about egg station and other experiences. I am also truly saddened that you felt that we did not reach your expectations due to a series of unfortunate situations that occurred during your stay. I have immediately shared your impressions and experience with my respective team members and have initiated immediate corrective action to avoid a repeat in the future. With that, I do most regret that throughout your stay I was not made aware of your experiences and was personally not present to provide you with immediate assistance. Last, for the check out we did not charge you any extra night because you book with us for 3 nights and you decide to leave early so we have to follow thru your booking. Once again thank you for staying with us, my team and I at Nak Nakara hotel remain hopeful that we will have the opportunity of making amends for this less than satisfactory stay. Have an exceptional week ahead Best Regards, Korntana

Nak Nakara is in a great location within walking distance of many attractions. Being just around the corner from the wonderful Flower Festival was a bonus. The staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Front desk will arrange reasonably priced tours or driver to take you where you would like to go. Breakfast always good with choices.
Swimming pool was great for some relaxation on returning from outings each day. Would highly recommend this hotel.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel! From the moment we arrived after our 24 hour journey, the staff looked after us brilliantly, carrying our bags, bringing us a drink and explaining the local area.
Our room was fairly basic but had everything we needed; decent shower, comfy bed, hairdryer, kettle, good wifi etc. There's also a complimentary minibar which is restocked daily, which is a really nice touch. There's also complimentary snacks and drinks in the reception.
Breakfast is a buffet with a great selection, including a station where eggs are cooked to order. Coffee was the best we've had in Thailand.
Pool area is lovely (albeit the pool is absolutely baltic!), with a nice bar within arm's reach.
But the thing that really makes this hotel is the staff, they were so friendly and helpful. Always on hand to help with travel arrangements, organise use of their shuttle into town (free of charge), and to advise on the local attractions.
Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!

First visit to Chiang Rai and enhanced by a wonderful 3 night stay at this hotel. Their location is just a 10 minute walk to the evening attractions and the accommodation itself was comfortable and clean and enhanced by having a small pool area to cool off after a days sightseeing. The staff were all wonderful and particularly reception who arrange two full days of sight seeing both the city itself and the surrounding beautiful countryside. If you decide to visit this city you would not go far wrong in choosing this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, pool and grounds. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of little extras such as snacks and drinks in the room and lobby are included. The room was huge, clean and had everything we needed. 15 minute walk to the clock tower and night bazaar, so very convenient location yet quiet. The included breakfast is very extensive and tasty. Highly recommended
