Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A quiet and pleasant location along the river. The swimming pool is a decent size and the rooms good too. The key standouts are the superb customer service and the restaurant which, in my two week tour, was the best visited.

This hotel is quiet, and some kilometers away from the center of Khon Kaen. Basically you need a car to go there. There is one good road from the road around Khon Kaen. The rest of the roads are average to bad. Also the site from booking dot com point you to the wrong place. My hint: drive to บ้านดอนบม (or Ban Don Bom) south-south-east of KK city, cross the river there and go to the right along the river. The room we had was really beautiful, The food in the restaurant, is good, the only really point of improvement i see are the language skills of the staff. Their English is just not good enough. When i came into the reception i could see the staff panic because... well... language... I still give the place a 5 star review. It is beautiful, quiet, clean and what I expected it to be.

I know some customers might complain about transportation to the place, but that's the reason why I call this hotel a "hidden gem." I have been to the place several times and have got to stay in all types of rooms, from deluxe to pool villa. Awesome experience! Warm, welcoming staff & good food. Excellent service & beautiful hotel! I had a bike trip around the area once, and it was so memorable. My friend and I went for a 10 km bike trip, across the villages, natural lakes, rice fields and vegetable gardens. You can enjoy pampering yourself at the hotel or go out to learn more about the area and the people and live the adventure!

My wife and I have enjoyed stayed at this resort a couple of times a year for the past several years. Recently we spent a long weekend there. It was still a beautiful place with well maintained grounds and nice places to walk. The staff in the restaurant and the gardeners and housekeepers remain as friendly as ever. But overall the place seems to be on a downhill slide. My emails to the manager trying to book a room were only sporadically answered and when we called reservations to check they could find no record of them. The front desk staff sometimes display a poor attitude in dealing with guests (a friend who has also stayed at the Wishing Tree several times told me she will never return after an unpleasant encounter with the reception staff). The rooms are showing signs of wear and tear. One of the air conditioners in our villa was so noisy we couldn't use it. The bathroom door kept sticking and was difficult to close fully. The bath towels are old and no longer soft. The razors are poor quality and provide a painful shave. All minor issues that would not bother us at a local business hotel but not really acceptable at a high end resort like the Wishing Tree aspires to be. We will probably continue to return to the Wishing Tree because it is still the nicest place to stay near Khon Kaen but we are sorry that it is slipping in this way. We hope the management will wake up and put things right.

It's right on the river, about half an hour from town if you have a car as did. It has four levels of accommodation. We stayed in a basic room, and took a look at other more expensive quarters, which include whole fenced-off villas. The room was nice, if a bit odd. There is an extra bed, half folded up, in the corner, topped by bolsters. I tried to sit on it thinking it was a chair. It's definitely not. The whole resort is quiet and pleasant. The pool is chlorine treated and small and above-ground. The promised organic garden and zoo are neglected. The garden needs care, and the goats are confined in a much-too-small cage. The two ponies are tethered to trees. I couldn't find the "albino buffalo." The outdoor ashtrays were full and not emptied during our stay. The restaurant is above average but again, neglected. Food in the buffet line was cold, apparently because no one thought to turn on the burners. They did turn them on when we pointed it out, but the food had not warmed enough by the the time we had to leave. The rooms were superficially cleaned, but it was clear that no serious cleaning had been done for a long time. There was heavy dark mildew on the curtains, and bathroom surfaces had not had significant attention for an extended period (see photos). There was no guide to amenities or features in the room or at the front desk. We discovered too late, and by accident that bicycles were provided. All in all it was a pleasant stay, but any claims to four star status should wait until maintenance is improved.

The Wishing Tree is an out-of-the-way small "resort" near Khon Kaen, a city some 450 km northwest of Bangkok. The rooms are nice, the food at the one on-site restaurant is adequate, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location of the resort is remote, with nothing nearby; you would need a car or cab to get anywhere (restaurant, stores, etc.). While a leisurely stroll around the property can be taken, the amenities are not that much: a small swimming pool seems to be about it. The resort overlooks a river and there was a boat tethered there so perhaps that is available for guided trips. This rural facility is nice for the area, but definitely does not compare well to the upscale resorts in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, or other often-visited venues in Thailand.

We looked last weekend for stay with family on the resort around khon kaen and found the available wishing tree resort. The resort is in a nice natural area and have there own animals with horses for riding. We use this resort more for swimming but the place is nice for stay upside from stress cities.

Great location for a quiet getaway or a work retreat. The facilities cater for all needs from a couples retreat of a spa, massage pampering through to family activities, bike rides, pool, gym, pony rides and walks. As a work group of 100 we found we had plenty of space and did not encroach on other guests nor they on us. Workshop facilities were great and staff always very eager to provide top service. Staff were gracious kind and courteous. The food was plentiful and delicious, the range extensive.

Great staff, amazing resort (not an in, not a hotel, not a guest house, but a real resort), great restaurant, incredibly fast free Internet, beautiful and spotless kept place. I was shocked by how good it was, and how hidden it is! I really can't find anything wrong with it... just... WOW!
