Nice clean rooms, fridge, tv, safe, AC, furniture all in good condition. Good WiFi and close to many small restaurants, bars and small supermarkets. Only 10 minutes walk to Jungceylon and 20 minutes to beach. Had to pay cash on arrival and luckily they had room for our small car in the alley - when I asked about parking beforehand they thought I meant for a motorbike. Washing machines across the alley came in useful.

We booked this place based on TA reviews. The first surprise on arrival was that we would need to pay with cash in advance. We prefer paying with a card. The room was poorly appointed and in poor repair. The sliding door did not lock or secure in any way. The security box did not work. The place was really sketchy and we let the (pool-playing) young lady know that we would not be staying. She told us we would need to pay anyway, and we laughed at her and went to a more suitable hotel. We realize not every small hotel in this region is fabulous, and we're reasonable in our expectations. This place was dumpy and we didn't feel comfortable staying there. We jumped in a tuktuk and went to a lovely hotel in the Karon Beach area.

We stayed here almost ten day on the beginning of December. It was great. We got a room on the third floor, lots of stairs but no problem. Room is quite good. It has a safe deposit box, refrigerator, double bed, small but useful balcony, TV set with great channels, bathroom with shower. Bathroom has a wall inside, which separates shower from other part. They have tiny yellow ants, so don't leave open food anywhere. Or eat it and hold by yourself or leave it in garbage disposal. It is quiet. It is far from Bangla bar street and all parties, so you can sleep. Great air-condition. They have little bar, but it's not so full of us, guests. But whatever you need they have, food, drink, whatever. You have 7eleven market across the street, few steps from the hotel, and it is not the only one. On the way to the beach you'll find plenty of them, as well as Family Marts. It is a bit hilly on Soi Nanai (Nanai street), but not so much. You will walk a lot to the beach, but the way there is the best for anyone, because as soon as you leave Soi Nanai and get into the other street that actually lead you to the beach all the way straight ahead, you will pass through the main part of town> Food Market (night market in the evening), Jung Ceylon shopping mall complex, Bangla street and finally beach part. So we walked but our hotel was nicely located, so we passed every day through the most visited and most interested parts of town. They have at Tropical inn every day nice cleaning service, they change all towels and keep an eye if we needed something in the bathroom. What was perfect was that their cleaning lady also make all the mess we left in the room, so the room was always so clean and tidy with all stuff put on the right place. Great! They also put two Nestle water bottles in the fridge every day, so we don't even had to buy water. It was free of charge. They have great WiFi, I was very satisfied with it. Girl manager of this hotel was very helpful and nice. We asked her about massage centre to recommend us. She told us about one, which is quite different from the other. When I say this I mean, its masseurs don't sit or stand in front of the massage shop and look nice and shout "massaage" suggesting something more that massage... This place has normal therapist and even it looks from the street as not as big as other, when we enter it has lot of space, well air-conditioned and you feel it's a real deal. It is also on Soi Nanai, and it has another massage place near the beach. I highly recommend to ask manager to tell you the name of this centre. They are great, usual prices and great service. So if you choose Tropical Inn, you'll get great place to stay!!!

First of all it is important to note that the hotel is not near the beach. It is about 15 minutes walk. Having said that the hotel itself is really nice with big clean rooms. Great shower (not a common thing in Thailand) and good and friendly service. It is located near one of the main streets so you will not have any problems finding everything that you need nearby from shops to bars to restaurants. The hotel has changes owner recently and the current owner but it seems to have kept it level. We stayed three nights and if we had more time would have stayed more. Very good value for money ratio, and in my opinion an excellent choice in Patong. The only negative point is that there is no swimming pool. Having the beach a bit far it would have been nice to be able to cool down at the hotel.

Bad points; was quite a walk to the beach, not many restaurants around the hotel area and the hotel restaurant was out of action. Reception wasn't covered at all times. Good points; room was cleaned well, fresh towels, good air con, good wifi and good value for money

We stayed in this place in December. It’s a small hotel in a pretty much quiet location. It is always nice to have a good sleep after some crazy night hangout. Our room had kitchen and a big balcony with table and chairs. Room was cleaned every day except one day that was maid’s day off (don’t remember what week day was it), but in that day the manager gave us fresh towels and drinking water himself. We bought a rice cooker and an electrical frying pan in BigC which is in Jungceylon shopping mall which is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Vegetable/fruit market is at the same distance from the hotel. Thought we’ll be cooking for ourselves, but later we found out that there’s a fully functioning restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. They serve many vegetarian dishes, so we realized that we won’t need all that stuff that we bought for cooking. Talking about the cons – it’s a bit far from the beach, but if you don’t mind to take a walk, then it’s ok. This is what you have to pay for a good sleep at night on Patong. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the beach by foot and 3 minutes if you have a bike, as we did. We rented it at reception desk for 200 baht per day and they did not ask my passport for deposit. That was surprisingly nice, since many companies take your passport and use it to squeeze some money from you, saying that you did some damage to the bike. Main rule - never give your passport as a deposit! If we’ll be visiting Phuket again, we’ll stay in that place again, or at least come for dinner.

Thank you for such a detailed review. Our restaurant is closed until next high season though. And you are 100% right about not giving your passport to anyone as a deposit - you never know if you'll get it back easily. Hope to see you again soon.

What a pleasant and wonderful stay at the Tropical Inn. The rooms are clean, spacious and nice. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Do your bookings with them, as they are very concerned to make sure clients get good deals (They booked extremely cheap transport to the airport for me.) I highly recommend this guesthouse for travelers.
