This place would deserve more than 5 stars under all the aspects. Location wise it was situated exactly where I prefer a beach hotel to be. Peaceful stay. You can reach Carnival magic - Fantasea show within 20 minutes by car. Bangla road within 20-30 minutes depending upon traffic. Go out and venture into the craziest streets of Bangla road / Patong but then you return to the calm atmosphere here in. Such a beauty. Good sized and clean bedroom and bathroom. Bed, linens and pillows were comfortable enough. I appreciate that there is a transparent wall separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom so it doesn't get wet. Bathtub facility is lovely if you're planning for your honeymoon - glass window from where you can see the room. Friendly and helpful staff. They offer spa and massage services. Two things I loved the most: 1. They offer a free, complimentary shuttle bus service to Patong / Bangla road everyday from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. 10 seater vehicle. Loved this service. 2. Food and drinks are appetizing, plus lots of street food options nearby. Great outdoor bar area. Grab a bottle of Chang / Singha beer and enjoy the sunset on the beach. The pool gives you good vibes, nice & clean - just get in the water and relax. Lastly, get the balcony if you can, it’s worth it! And I repeat... great value for money! I would surely search for availability at Sunset Beach Resort, if I was going back to Patong beach, Phuket. …

The hotel is old and in need of updating was proberly nice years ago. Our room smelt musty and damp which was quite off putting. The food was poor in standard and perhaps the worst part was the staff were very racist which was disappointing because this was the only place we experienced projections of other people's ignorance in Thailand. The receptionist at times ignored us to serve guests clearly standing behind us. When we rang room service having arrived late they didn't answer. This was very upsetting as it could have been an emergency. I would not visit this hotel again and its location is quite far out from the local strip and Patong Beach luckily we found some great spots and Thai people so didn't have to spend much time in the hotel.

Its a nice hotel on the road leading to Patong beach. Not too many shops nearby. Quiet road. You wont get transport easily here. Staff is friendly. Indian food is so-so. Room we got was just ok. The eceptionist don't always understand your English but they have their own English and you have to bear ith them till they get you.

I honestly can’t understand the negative reviews on here! I found this hotel fantastic- location, friendly staff and cleanliness of room. I ordered room service and it was good too. Yes, it’s a little bit out of town but there’s a free shuttle (or I used Grab for about $6AUD, or sometimes walked) and I liked being out of the noise. 7-11 and ATMs short walk nearby and you can hear the sounds of the waves from the balcony. I had the partial sea view room and it was luxurious!

This resort is a little older but has charm . Its overlooking the beach and has an amazing pool with plenty of sunlounges and umbrellas . The rooms all overlook the pool with large balconies . Rooms are very spacious with fridge and kettle tea and coffee . The bathrooms have bath and separate shower with shower hats and all amenities . Rooms very clean . Breakfast is great big variety of food for anyone's tastes . Best omelettes I've ever had . The restaurant and bar overlook the beach . There is a free shuttle that runs every hour into Bangla Rd where all the shopping massages and restaurants are . I would definately stay there again .

We’ve just returned from a lovely two week stay at this resort. Was concerned after reading the negative reviews that perhaps it’s not the best place to stay. But, I used to stay here many years ago and wanted to give it a go. A lot of the reviews were negative in regards to staff being unfriendly or unhelpful. When we were first there, it’s true, staff seemed disconnected, like they didn’t see you. But, after 24 hrs of acknowledging them, speaking with them, a Hello, and thank you a smile, They just morphed into the happy wonderful people I remember so well. We watched many interchanges between staff and guests. Let me tell you, there is nothing wrong with this beautiful staff, it’s some of the guests who should be ashamed of themselves. They work endlessly cleaning and tidying up everything. The only messes I saw, and there was quite a few, were created by the guests. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone who is respectful, humorous, have self control and an awareness of others. After all, you may like your music, doesn’t mean we all will. The staff is disrespectful with Indians . Worst service I have ever seen no one from the Front desk to housekeeping staff is polite and friendly. They don’t try to help you or guide. The shuttle service is disorganised. .. over all not a great place to stay.

The only positive about this hotel is the staff. The rooms were awful and bathrooms were never cleaned. Only the towels were changed every day. I pointed this out 3 times while we were there. We stayed 7 nights. Saw cockroaches at reception and a rat running up the stairs! Don't waste your money. Sunset Beach Resort will never see us again!

Great location and premises, slightly let down by the decor and facilities on site. Rooms were ok and AC was worked in our room. The shower was not very functional but bathroom and suite were adequately furnished. Room was a lot larger than I thought and the living room furniture was very tired and dated. Buffet breakfast was fairly ok for selection. Dining in for any other meals was hit and miss. Good choices not so great and overall quality of foods s ever were average if not below. Service staff on bars and desks friendly and helpful but quite slow in customer service overall. Would stay again but probably not more than a 2 nights if given a choice. Shuttle service useful but not a ideal on a short stay as very unreliable timings.
