A conveniently located and comfortable hotel. Can't find better for the price. The breakfast was simple, and coffee was good, exactly as expected. The staff was very helpful, and helped arrange a vehicle to take us to the national park and ultimately to hua hin.

We stayed here for one night en route to Hua Hin. We went for a deluxe room as it was only a little bit more expensive. The room was large, basic and clean. The hotel is opposite the cable car to the hill on which there is a palace to visit. At the foot of the hill there are a few cafes and restaurants. Town is around a 15 minute walk along which there are lots of monkeys! Breakfast was included and was very good, especially if you want to try a full Thai style breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

When I called and asked for the price, to be honest, I didn't expect much of this hotel coz it's cheap. But this small hotel surprised me, especially the service!
It's just opposite to the old palace.

We only planned to stay a single night in town on our way south and chose this hotel because it is so close to the cable car going up the mountain, which was what we wanted to do (even though we could have found cheaper accomodation at the center of town).
The staff was very friendly (not much English though), the rooms were large and well aired. Some of the best beds and largest+softest towels we got in Thailand. Breakfast was large and good.

The Sun hotel is a basic, good value hotel. Recommend the deluxe rooms at the front of the property, they're larger with a balcony, with views across to the Khao Wang palace hill. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with a selection of asian and western food. Some web sites mention a hotel restaurant, but when we were there (April 2014) it was only open for breakfast. The hotel staff had very basic English only - don't expect assistance or advice beyond checking in and out.

The cable car to the Khao Wang palace is opposite the hotel. There's a complex of shops and restaurants around the cable car, but these were only open during the day. We took the cable car up, spent an hour or two looking around, and then walked down the other side of the hill into Phetchaburi town.

There's no public transport around the hotel. The town iteslf was a 20 minute walk, you can go either way - north or south - around the Khao Wang hill. Next to the hotel was a restuarant called King Kong serving Western-style salads and steak, but not much Thai food. If you're adventurous, there were a couple of very basic local Thai restuarants further up the road, otherwise you need to walk into town to eat.

Petchaburi is a typical sleepy Thai provincial town. I loved wandering around, visiting the temples and trying the abundant street food.

Onward transport from the hotel was bit difficult. We were heading south towards Hua Hin. Minibuses were available from the Thanon Ban Dai It intersection with the main highway about 1km south of the hotel, but getting a taxi was difficult. The hotel wanted to charge an extortionate rate to book a taxi. We eventually arranged one via the helpful owner at Rabieng Rim Nam restaurant & guest house in the town centre. I would advise pre-booking a taxi for onward travel.

A good place for 1-2 nights, which is all you need for Phetchaburi anyway. Room was quite large, beds were comfortable and linen clean. Bathroom acceptable. Right next to phram Nakhon khiri and a very reasonable restaurant. The actual hotel has an exceptionally reasonable restaurant itself actually - 300 baht for the 3 of us including two large beers; can't say better than that. You pay your money and take your choice, and for the money this place is fine, just don't expect too much.

We got a very bad room at our arrival. First floor, facing a humid tiny run down courtyard. Walls were dirty and floor totally worn out.
We complained, they answered professionally and kindly and changed the room to a slightly better one. They always smiled and were very soft with us.
No one at the hotel spoke more than ten words in english so communication was almost impossible.
The place is out of the town and taxis are scarce. No motorbike rental service around.
Unfortunately there are not many options in the beautiful Phetchaburi.

Someone set up a guesthouse please!

this is a very cheap hotel. it was clean, the rooms were comfortable with good internet. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. the hotel was centrally located to do all the sightseeing. The only small problem was that noone spoke English so ordering a taxi or asking a question, was not possible. For £20 per night, you really cannot ask more. Would definitely recommend it for a budget traveller.
