Hotel Bel Azur Thalasso & Bungalows presents a varied experience, with its prime beachfront location and lively atmosphere frequently complimented by guests. While the entertainment and music contribute to the vibrant environment, some find it overpowering. The service and room quality receive mixed feedback, with commendations for friendly staff and cleanliness but criticisms of occasional unprofessionalism and maintenance issues. Although the clean pools and beaches are popular among guests, the perceived lack of value, due to additional costs and overcharges, alongside calls for better food variety and amenity improvements, suggest room for enhancement.

This hotel is well located in central Hammamet, close enough to the centre without being in the confusion of the actual centre. The rooms are dated, but well equipped, with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms with a proper shower screen rather than the horrible shower curtains you normally find. The gardens are truly beautiful and the staff do their best to make you comfortable. Breakfast is good, with omelettes made to order in front of you. Souhail, at the door, is a fantastic host and provides a true welcome. Great value for money.

This was our first time in Tunisia and after the last 2 years of covid it was a welcome break. We opted to upgrade to a Seaview and were places in one of the Bungalows, it was late in the night when we arrived and when we woke in the morning to the sound of crashing waves then opening the curtains to the most amazing view of the sea and the beach virtually meters from our room. First impression of the rooms is that they are really outdated and tired looking with the bathroom a bit grubby, so really could be doing with a bit of TLC in the future. We also got quite a few ants coming into the room, which was annoying.

The food was the only disappointing thing about the holiday, it was so repetitive and sometimes what you got for lunch you had for dinner. The food was catered for the international guests and especially the French, sometimes it was bread and rice for dinner or a trip over the road to The Black & White. We did complain to the management about this and they took everything on board and really bent over backwards for us which in turn really made our holiday that much better.

The staff are so friendly especially kamil the pool bar waiter. He would be there from 0730 until 1600 and always on his feet making sure that you were well topped up, such a credit to the hotel to have him there.

The animation staff were amazing and would always stop for a chat especially the one we named as trouble such a good guy.

There are 2 pools, a large one and small one. The large one can get a bit busy especially at the weekends when there seems to be a lot of locals visiting, the hotel would virtually double at the weekends. The pool are good and plenty of sunbeds so no need to get up at 5am to send the kids down. The only downside to the pool area is that it is not properly cleaning in the morning from the night before, people stubbing cigarettes on the floor and sometimes still there a few days later. The cleaning staff start to clean the pool area at around 0745 when people are starting to get on the sunbeds.

This was a good holiday in the end and we will be booking up for next June again.

We have returned to the Bel Azur three times, taking friends on one occasion and my elderly parents this time. All have loved it as much as us.
From the moment you draw up at the hotel doors you are treated superbly, Solheil is just the nicest doorman dealing with your luggage while you fill in your form and pay the tunisian tourist tax. Whilst doing this you are served a welcome drink and given your band.
The food is outstanding and I'm baffled by some of the reviews, my husband is fussy beyond belief with food, but the restaurant is one of his favourite times at the hotel. The pastries and cakes are amazing. There is great choices at all meal times and the omelette chef in the morning is hypnotizing as he makes your omelette of choice in minutes. Snacks are avaliable at the lower pool snack bar, but the a la carte isn't too our taste. Mohamed in the restaurant always remembers us and lays the table with flowers. My mum who has been in hospitality all her life was totally enamoured with him. There is a great fun team led by Roger. We were delighted when Moomoo joined the team as we knew him from another hotel in Tunisia there is aqua arobics, yoga, darts, archery, french bowls, tennis and much more. The evening entertainment is very clearly on a budget but they put thier heart and soul into it. However dancing and karaoke gets a bit boring, Live music is played at the weekend at the upstairs bar and isnt too bad. The spa is amazing but a bit pricey and the infinity pool is a must try.
Rooms are large and beds are comfortable, with everything you need including toiletries and robes ( on the thin side) there is both a shower and a bath but be aware the bath is quite high to climb into, mum and dad both struggled a little as thier mobility is slightly limited. The rooms are a touch tired but not so much as to cause a negative impact.
The corridors are at the front of the hotel and technically all rooms have the sea view with the garden in front, so we don't choose the upgrade option. The air conditioning is a bit hit or miss but reception will send an engineer if needed. The cleaning staff are out of this world and work so hard in every area.
All in all this is a slightly above average hotel BUT the staff make it an amazing hotel.
They will be as courteous to you as you are to them and more than earn the free dinar tips infrequently offered. Personally we preffered to give a larger tip of 10 dinar every other day ( around £4)
There are many excursions arranged from the hotel, depending on your taste, most are worth a try. The two day Sahara trip has been our favourite so far.
We have already booked to return at the end of summer and are looking forward to seeing our tunisian friends in the luxury that is bel azur

We were greeted with a lovely cocktail by the friendly staff on arrival after a late arrival owing to the flight not receiving its cabin food in time at Gatwick.
The rooms were still being prepared when we got here but we only had a short wait before we were shown to the four rooms we booked.
Our baggage was handled by a number of porters who couldn’t do enough for us.
My wife and I were initially disappointed to find our room wasn’t the upgraded “sea view” room we paid for so complained about this to reception.
Despite the hotel being full the staff still kept a smile on and found a beautiful modern alternative room for us which we were delighted with.
The beach is sandy and the sea is gentle as it laps right next to the hotel.
The night life is generally tailored for younger children up-to around 9pm so if you have kids they will not be board. WIFI can be a little intermittent but generally does what you need while away on your well earned holibobs.
Bar staff on the pool areas are great, always happy to come and sort a cocktail for you while you are sunning yourself during the day. The evening lounge bar is a lovely place to cool off after a day in the sun for a few more cocktails before bed or heading out to watch the entertainment.
Having done many similar holidays this is a solid 8/10 for us.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel at the end of April/ beginning of may this year. After a bit of a stressful check in we were taken by a very friendly porter to our room which was lovely. I’m guessing due to the quick turnover of rooms, we were only given one towel and one robe which was dirty. We told reception when we went down for a walk on the beach and when we returned we had fresh towels, fresh robes and our lovely housekeeper had put flowers on the bed for us! The next morning our housekeeper gave me a bunch of flowers when we saw her in the hallway and then put them in a glass of water in our room. From then on she did such an amazing job of cleaning our room so we were very grateful (kicking myself for not getting her name!)

We can’t thank Karim enough, he made our holiday and is the reason that we want to come back to this hotel. He is the bartender at the pool bar. Although we only went to the indoor pool once, every time we were on the beach he came down and an asked what drinks we would like. But he didn’t just bring us drinks, he brought veg sticks, olives, nuts, strawberries and little pizzas down! He made our experience at this hotel amazing…. His cocktails are very strong though haha but he does make an amazing mojito! I’ve attached a photo of myself and Karim so you can look out for him.

The food was nice. My parter and I were very excited to try new things and special Tunisian dishes, however the food was pretty much the same all week. The variety of fresh fruit and veg was amazing though!

All in all our holiday was lovely, there were some things we weren’t happy with but nowhere is perfect and every problem we had got sorted so we couldn’t thank the staff enough. Please remember to tip the staff if you are able too. Tunisia is a poor and recovering country so they do really appreciate the tips and it’s nice to see tips go to people who don’t take money for granted.

Just come back from a 7 day stay here. Hotel was very good and staff were excellent,

The food was plentiful and there was always something to eat from a great buffet selection which included local specilities and a good array of other dishes. If all else fails there was pizza and chips too.

Unfortunately the breakfast coffee and tea facilities in the dining room need some urgent improvement. The large canteen style metal urns used for coffee, milk & hot water weren't kept hot or were empty. There were 2 self service coffee machines which were awful and unfortunately due to the volume of guests using them were frequently empty. By happy contrast coffee from the lobby bar or pool bar was a lot better and we tended to order from there after the meal.

Service was very good across all areas and the animation team deserve a special mention for their efforts.

There is a choice of 3 pools and 2 beaches which is great, however the 2 outdoor pools do get very busy. We never got to try the lower pool as all the beds had towels on them from silly o'clock in the morning but not an issue for us as the beach is right near by and there were plenty of beds there.

Rooms were good and spacious however A/C was not turned on in any of the rooms in the hotel when we arrived, and this was confirned by reception. A negative point is that there was no hotel information in the rooms, in pretty much all hotels i've stayed in there is normally a folder with information about the hotel, tours, services, etc etc. The room had a safe, fridge and tea/coffee facilites.

Being all inclusive meant drinks were also included and these were fine, there was a decent choice of cocktails and the spirits were local brands but again were fine. Measures were certainly generous but if you prefer branded drinks they are available at a very reasonable cost.

Tui offer a single reservation in the A La Carte restaurant as part of the package which needs to be booked in the main dining room. Found it a little odd that we had to choose our main course at the time of booking. When you sit down it is actually a fixed menu apart from the main course you've already chosen so not a la carte!

The hotel goes out of its way to make guests feel welcome and SAFE. The beaches are manned with life guards as are the pools and in the evening there was security patrolling the beaches. We walked into central Hammamet and at no time did we feel unsafe or uneasy and there was little hawking apart from the shop owners in the Medina and even then it was very polite and friendly.

In summary:
1. would i recommend this hotel - Yes.
2. would i go back again - Yes.

Dirty run down hotel !!! No air con in main parts of hotel when asked why it’s not on reply was because we don’t have electric doors ! Rooms were dirty broken furniture water and tea and coffee etc was never replenished our room never got cleaned for 4 days until I complained the sheets never got changed ! Food was reused and either under cooked or so over cooked was inedible we could normally find something for breakfast but then went and got food outside of the hotel. restaurant was more like school canteen a lot of pushing and shoving and with no aircon and full of flies the snack bar was a joke a hole in the wall serving crepes that you have to queue for about 30 minutes for the à la cart restaurant over looking the sea looks pretty but food was poor and it’s only open 12 till 5 ! Housekeeping was atrocious
This hotel’s facilities are shared by 2 other hotels the royal azur and the Sol azur which we were not aware of so finding a sun lounger was a nightmare unless you want to get up at 5am every day also from Friday to Monday the hotel opens up for locals to use and believe me it was mayhem overcrowded and just a free for all the 1 star I have given is for some of the staff inis on reception very helpful the life guards at the bottom infinity pool who really work hard and the bar staff at the infinity pool well done guys 👏👏
Also the weather was amazing and the beach to the left of the hotel was also amazing
This hotel is definitely not a four star it has potential because of its location but if your looking for a relaxing holiday with good food this is not the one please don’t waste you hard earned cash !! I have visited Tunisia before and had wonderful holidays but this was my last

I have recently "discovered" this hotel and we fell in love. We were supposed to stay one night and prolonged up to 4 nights eventually. Very good price-quality ratio.
We spend the first night in a sea view room. It was clean, quiet and with a very nice sea view.
Afterwards we changed to the sea view bungalow for the remaining 3 nights.
The pool was crowded with families with children so we have chosen to spend our day by the beach. It was almost empty and clean.
Entire hotel crew was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The beach bar gentleman was always there for us supplying us with mohitos.
Buffet was rich and tasty. After trying the dinner buffet on the first evening we have decided on the full board for the rest of our stay.
BIG minus: coffee at the breakfast. Not a real coffee, but an instant coffee liquid tasting awful. Unfortunately the paid coffee bar at the lobby opens very late so we couldn't even help ourselves there.

Plese change your breakfast coffee and we will be happy to come back.

What we loved:
* Clean hotel, grounds and room.
* Stunning scenery and views across the gardens and bay.
* Friendly staff in reception, restaurant, snack bar, poolside workers and cleaners. A big shout out to Muhammad in the restaurant and the upper poolside drinks waiter 🙌 you both went above and beyond for my family, thank you.
* Clean pools both inside and out. The chemical levels in the outdoor pool were seen being checked on several occasions during our stay.
* Comfy beds, spacious rooms. Bathroom dated but good shower and facilities.Rooms made up daily.
* Great wifi access.
* Towel hire available if you ask at reception (though over-complicated card system for deposit)
* Choice of colourful fruit, salads and desserts available at lunch and dinner.
* Plenty of sun beds this time of year.
* Responsive maintenance team, removed broken hairdryer unit from wall in bathroom and replaced within 2 hours of reporting to reception.

Not so good:
* Food is not labelled. As a vegetarian this was difficult to know what to eat. It’s the only holiday I’ve been on where I’ve lost weight not put it on!
* The Buffett lacks spatulas for self serving of food, meat, fish and potatoes were often next to one another with only one serving spoon, meaning contamination. Disappointing and something that could be easily rectified.
* Lower pool toilets in need of a refurb.
* Aircon switched off at this time of year, for us not used to the warm climate the rooms felt to warm.

**However a positive to sleeping with the balcony door open for air meant we heard the low murmur of morning prayers start around 4.45am each morning. Though early, the sound was relaxing and it was nice to experience a glimpse of the Tunisian culture.

Overall the positives tipped the balance and for the price we paid we felt we had value for money

Overall is a nice hotel, beautiful views, clean pools and well maintained gardens.

Food was average, everything warm at best and pretty much the same every night so was very repetitive and we ended up paying to eat outside the hotel most of the time. Meal times at the buffet are chaotic with children running round near the food and people pushing in when queuing, so recommend eating at the start of service. Me and my partner also suffered bad stomachs after some meal times.

There are 2 lovely pools, clean and deep and sun loungers comfy however were hard to get most days. The beaches and sea were very nice. Note most the pictures online are not from this hotel which is misleading when we expected the pools from the pictures.

Could not fault the maids room service, clean towels, beds made up and floor mopped everyday. They were very polite and helpful! We did find the air-con made the room smell bad. Beds were comfy but just two single beds pushed together.

Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the restaurant and pool staff who always made sure we had drinks. However we found the young woman on reception when checking in unhelpful and and also the lobby barman with bow tie very rude, tutting and slamming drinks on the bar and got annoyed when you didn't tip him even though he provided poor service.

We hired the beach towels at a 15d each deposit and you can swap them for clean ones on the beach whenever you needed which was great!

We didn't book any excursions through the hotel as we found the rep very persistent, coming up to us multiple times a day. Instead we booked through locals in the shops opposite the hotel who gave much better prices and advice! Nabeul market was great, we went on a Saturday morning and was lovely and quiet.

Overall we had a nice stay but we wouldn't rush back anytime soon.

Hi, the pool area has a bar, the waiters do walk around but we went to the bar ourselves as it was next to the pool.. hope that helps 🙂
