Where to start, we paid extra for a sea view, well worth it, the room was a great size, good size shower room, separate WC, large balcony. Area for 2 suitcases, plenty hangers, a small fridge with water replenished every day. It was my husband’s birthday, they organised a cake a singalong in the restaurant for him, then the bar manager Chaieb Saber, organised another cake, a VIP table in the theatre and in the bar, they couldn’t do enough for us. The majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The first weekend was a bit of a nightmare as the had a few football/ soccer teams and their entourage, you would think they had never been fed, they cleared everything on every food section. Outside the hotel is very run down, not wheelchair friendly at all. The animation team work very hard, although I feel the hotel should have more information around the hotel to tell you where, when the activities are taking place, some people we spoke to were unaware that they had a small theatre with something happening most nights. We felt there was a really good variety of food, breakfast, lunch, dinner. The hotel could be a bit more informative regarding the dining etiquette. Although the hotel must have been very grand when it was built, it is rather tired in some areas. I would return to this hotel as it was a very pleasant holiday, just could not go through the nightmare at the airport again. Although it’s not the hotels fault, problems at the airport were a nightmare, queues before you even get into departures as they only have 2 X-ray machines and 6 buses full of tourists arriving all at the same time wanting to get home, the queue to change your dinar was just as bad, we couldn’t change our money or we would have missed our flight, the passport controller took 800 dinar from my husband and just put it under his desk, we were then stopped by a customs lady that wanted to see how much £’s we had,you then have a further security check before you get to your boarding gate.

This was honestly a beautiful memorable experience, I don’t have any criticism or one bad word to say, it was me, my sister and brother - there was a lot of old retired people at the hotel but it was still nice for us youngsters. We did some excursions like the camel ride, boat ride, quad bikes and went to Tunis to explore the capital (make sure you speak to the easy jet rep they’re really helpful) the waiters and service was AMAZING!!! 🥹 I want to thank abdel in particular who made it feel like home and treated us like family. The food is really nice and there’s various options! We tipped the waiters because their actual wage isn’t very good. BE WEARY OF MEDINA OF SOUSSE MARKETS- they scam tourists and charge them extra so make sure you haggle the price or go places with a fixed price but the atmosphere, people and things are beautiful! The people are so welcoming and lovely, anywhere you go, they’re happy to help!! Make sure you go out and explore the beautiful country, the views are out of this world, our hotel room had a nice terrace too I’m definitely coming back, amazing holiday

I am sure when the hotel was built in 1988 it may well have been a very imposing 5* but time has not been kind. There is a rolling video in reception showing what it used to look like and it did look stunning. But the bedrooms are now looking tired and chairs and sofas in the bar and restaurant are threadbare and even badly discoloured in places. The plastic chairs around the pool need 2 cushions to be close to comfortable. Speaking to guests who go there regularly also commented that the food was way better pre Covid. That said it is still a comfortable hotel and in winter, very good value for money. I wouldn’t pay the price at other times, but for what I paid, have no reason to complain (and others had even better deals than I did!) It is about a 40 minute drive from the airport, which takes a while to get through as their security is extremely tight and they photograph and thumb print every new visitor to the country. You have to have your luggage scanned just to get into the airport at departure and the queues outside can be very long. I waited 30 mins just to get in! Even at the hotel, you and you luggage have to go through scanners at the front door. I guess you can’t really blame them, but just be aware. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, and reception is huge with an imposing chandelier as tall as a house! Reception staff on the whole are efficient but they do tend to prefer to talk to colleagues than to you when they are dealing with you. I had to get my key card reprogrammed and they didn’t make eye contact at any point during the process. Managers take note! The bar and restaurant staff are very attentive and friendly and tend to remember what you drink. You are allocated a table in the restaurant and in busy times you have a choice of 2 sittings for dinner. I was there in the quiet time so that didn’t apply. Cleaner in the room was lovely and did a good job every day. The staff around the pool had great memories for all the drinks they were serving. It wasn’t busy so there were plenty of beds but I would imagine at peak times the whole place would be crazy, especially the restaurant. The food was a long way from 5* and some days, not even 4. The presentation was nice, but the food quality wasn’t. Even in the winter, there were queues for the freshly cooked hot food so in summer it would just be a free for all scrum! I did have a lovely fresh omelette every morning, but there were a few meals when I struggled and just ended up with cold meat and salad. The soft drinks were from bottles rather than the concentrate machines which was nice. The orange juice was too sweet and sugary but a few times, they did squeeze fresh orange juice as you waited which was nice. The downsides for me were a few. Firstly, the middle weekend I was there was a local holiday and the hotel was flooded with locals. I used to think the Germans were the most arrogant on holiday but they have nothing on the Tunisians! Strutting about in their fake designer gear barging past people, pushing in at the bar and restaurant queues and generally being obnoxious. One “well dressed” women tried to barge past to get into the lift as I was trying to get out and I’m afraid I stood my ground and put her in the wall! I wasn’t the only one who felt that way! Secondly don’t be fooled by the “lively” marina. It’s tiny and takes less than 5 minutes to walk around. The shops are the usual downmarket fakes and pottery and the cafes not exactly 5* and you were constantly hassled at every one of them. Females in particular where hassled non stop so another thing to be aware of. The town was mostly closed in winter so very little to do there. Like the hotel, it has seen better days. The whole area needs a lot spending to bring it back to where it once was. The beach was filthy with seaweed and cans and bottles as I don’t think they bother to clean it in the winter. The other downside are too many staff at the hotel with their hands out for endless tips. Even the maintenance staff who are fixing things that shouldn’t have been broken in the first place and you had to wait in your room for expected a tip! They need to learn that actually puts people off! All that said I have booked to come back to Tunisia as it is a lovely country, but at a different hotel and resort with more going on and at another very good price. Some of the trips are well worth while to see more of their history and culture.
