This hotel was billed at 4 stars but was definitely a deluxe 4 star. My sister and I went for a week of pure relaxation at the end of October. For that, this hotel was perfect. We heard some horror stories of 5 star hotels in tunisia and even met some travellers who had moved from 5 star accomodation to this hotel. The room was comfortable and clean (although maybe a little dated). All seemed to have balconies, ours overlooked the garden. The beach was tiny but the ample pool side more than made up for this. The thalassotherapy spa was extra (and the head honcho there was extremely grumpy, to his own admission, this had nothing to do with Ramadam!). It was brand new and pretty perfect. There is a lovely gym (also extra, however) and a sizeable menu of treatments available. Spa packages are also available.

We were on half board and the highlight of this was that the evening "buffet" included waiter service for your main course and your drinks which made such a nice change from the scramble for the hotplates. The food and finishing touches were really good and there was plenty of choice. The staff were really friendly.

We had everythign we needed on site and didn't need to leave the hotel at all. We both agreed we would consider returning either for a week or a long weekend of pampering.

The nearest airport is Monastir but we flew to Tunisia and the transfer was fine ( a little over an hour ).

We just come back from a stay of 15 days and we enjoyed it very much. The staff is very agreeable and very helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The chamber maid, in the évening, comes to prepare the beds, change the towels etc. Before leaving she put on your pillow sweets and roses petals which is charming.
The gardens are beautiful and well maintened.
The spa is very nice ande the staff is outstanding.
The restaurant is pleasant but the food is average. No enough choice on the buffet and the taste is insipid.
It is the only bad remark we can make on this Hôtel.
The Port el Kantoui golf course is beautiful but a little bit expensive.

I had the worst facial treatment ever in this hotel ‘hotel hasdrubal thalassa spa’. There was no explanation about the treatment or the products, the chair was uncomfortable and I was under the steamer for about 20 min that was too hot and too close to my face. The woman left and came back later, then applied a mask and again left the room for about 20 min. Normally in the mean time they massage your hands or feet but now I pay 80 euro to be left alone in the room for most of the time with just a steamer and a mask. The water was cold and normally for comfort they use a hot towel or cottons to remove products.

After the treatment my skin felt really sticky… I said this immediately to the spa manager but he didn’t reply anything. Not a sorry or any explanation.. I understand that every country has his own way of treatments but you would not expect this from a 5 star hotel.

I did had a good experience in the hammam! It was clean and the treatment was nice. But I definitely not recommend the facial treatments.

I have been for the third time in Sentido Bellevue Park (then RIU) and 15 th time in Tunisia. Through Sun @Fun Polish tour operator I bought standard room with a view garden as there was no any other option. On arrival I was accomodated in level -1 (minus one acc. to lift info.), one meter below the ground, in the left wing of the hotel, eclusively offered to several other Polish tourists. The right wing serves for variuous hotel services as storages, loundry etc. My room no 1510 was situated with view on local way, opposite to construction works in progress. It was not a view garden. Apart from this it stunk with musty, mold and fungus and not only in the toilet. There was torn dirty, old, brown carpet in the corridor too.I refused sleeping in that room and wanted to pay for an upgrade but there were no rooms available . After an hour or two I received room no 1510 on the same level with lawn view, but on the real garden side. The "new" room has no tv pilot, lock to its "terrace" was broken and curtain torn but at least it did not stink. Two days after I was offered standard room with view garden on"0"-level in corner (under reception level), next to storage room and laundry. Being fed up with the receptionists " empty promises" to give us a nice room I decided to stay in room no 1510. During 10 days of our holiday I found 6 cocroaches (7 cm. long) of which three were killed on my request by cleaning staff and three were delivered by me to the reception. My previous two locations in that hotel were on the first level, pool view and second level with sea view and last experience was unpleasant astonishment. The garden, pool, food, cleaning and waiter team staff was very good and as good I remembered from previous holidays. Apart from beautiful lobby, garden, drink bars and restaurants the hotel needs further renovation (carpets, doors, beach umbrellas, deck chairs etc.). In my opinion the Hotel and tour operator agreed on such poor lodgging for Polish tourists and misled them by describing basement accomodation as "a standard room with garden view"

We originally booked our Holiday in the Imperial Marhaba in September but Airtours offered us this in exchange when they ceased to deal with that hotel back in January. We have been to Tunisia twice before & new what to expect but were most impressed with this alternative.
We prefer peaceful holidays in clean hotels which have good food, service & amenities - somewhere we can read a book, have a quite drink, eat well & then sleep in a comfortable bed - and this hotel fits the bill on all counts.
Most of the people who stay there are either French, Belgian, Swiss or German and (to put it politely) of retirement age. In fact there were only 2 other english speaking couples in the hotel besides us and though in our mid 40's we were 2 of the youngest!
The rooms are spacious & clean and sheets are changed every day. The staff are pleasant & helpful - however some do strugggle with english. The entertainment is low-key (a local group most nights) but the marina is only a 2 minute walk away if you want something more lively. The hotel owner (who I think lives in the hotel!) also invites all guests to a cocktail party once a week on the terrace with free drinks which is a nice touch.
The Thalassa is very impressive if a little expensive.
To break up the holiday we went the 3 day safari trip which was superb & well worth the £100 each we paid.
Allthough this may hotel may not be to everyones taste (as with Tunisia as a whole) it ticks all our boxes & we enjoyed ourselves so much we are now looking to book there again next year!

The lobby is always too warm ,the service in the restaurants is poor and most importantly The staff including the manager of the hotel require serious training in their ability to communicate with guests, some of the reception staff and the manager certainly do not know how to speak or communicate respectfully to guests when addroptions a problem .instead of giving options or solutions they creat insurmountable obstacles and instead of requesting or asking they tend to give orders (extremely unprofessional).

On arrival early hours of the morning we had to make our own beds! Bedding ok however reasonably clean.

Next day of our half board stay- food was very basic- good if you like bread and jam or an egg if you were lucky! Evening meals no better all Tunisian food we like our English grub and they do not cater for tourists- this is a mainly Tunisian hotel.

Very limited stock at the bar ran out of beer and tonic after 2 days, we had to venture out for a drink, local bars are 20 minute walk and well worth the effort- friendly locals and do make you feel welcome.

SHOW STOPPER! There was no water in the pool. At all. All sun loungers packed and locked away. All other hotels had functioning pools and proper facilities. So out of peak season not really an excuse.

Bear in mind there is an over 2hour journey if you are flying to Tunis airport.

All in all not geared up for tourists - more of a local conference center.

In fairness the staff were great and really helpful it's not their fault that the facilities were awful.

Avoid this especially if you have kids! It's not child friendly at all.

The Hasdrubal in Port El Kantaoui is clearly in need of some renovation, it shows that furniture, carpets, bathrooms have been used intensively and are not that recent anymore. Staff is very friendly though. Breakfast can be improved as well, large choice, but the looks and quality of some items is weird (e.g. strawberry jam that looks brown, almost black, ...). The room was very cold, the only heating element was extremely noisy.

Sorry - meant to mention the room got 'air-freshener' sprayed every day. But again it was actually very nice (I don't get on with very synthetic fresheners such as febreeze etc as I'm prone to migraines and get affected by suche fresheners) - not overpowering. It was another thing we commented on - that the hotel smelled nice! I mention this because this and the smoking are not something we'd normally comment on unless it was negative!
