Nestled in the heart of Old Town, the Alp Paşa Hotel - Special Class offers a vibrant and historical atmosphere that is appreciated by many guests. While the location is celebrated for its proximity to local attractions, it can be a source of noise for some. The hotel has received mixed feedback; staff are often described as friendly, yet there are reports of service lapses. Rooms are seen as having quaint historical charm but suffer from various issues such as noise and additional charges for amenities. Despite daily housekeeping, cleanliness levels are inconsistent. Amenities, including Wi-Fi, have room for improvement, and unexpected costs can detract from the perceived value of a stay.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, stunning architecture and lovely atmosphere.
The main courtyard has a plunge pool set in the middle which I’m sure would be great in the heat of summer, not a swimming pool as such.

No lounging areas but a few little areas to rest dotted about.

The staff were mostly helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. All spoke great English which was a great help.

The restaurant food was delicious and really well cooked with fresh ingredients. The Turkish coffee was really good.
Breakfast was a buffet style with lots of fruit/olive choice but limited to omelette/fired egg and frankfurter type sausage for hot. There was a range of cereals.

The hotel dog was lovely and very friendly, she was obviously well cared for.

The location is perfect right in the middle of old town close to everything including all the public transport on the main road just five minutes walk

The nearest accessible beach is a tram or bus route away. We did walk it but we don’t think it’s doable for everyone and the weather was very mild.

Unfortunately the room was a big let down aside from the shower which was fantastic with plenty of hot water, there are no other good points.
There is little storage for clothes (one wardrobe type cupboard with no drawers) so we had to live out of our suitcases. This meant our clothes were very creased and when we asked for an iron we were told no as it could blow the fuses. We could pay to send the clothes to be dry cleaned but that seemed a little excessive.
We also were told no kettle for the same reason which seemed odd as although the plug sockets were all loose, we charged many items at the same time and I used hair straighteners and no fuses blew.

The weather was quite cold in the evening so we ended up back in the room quite early and sadly the only English tv available was BBC news and a channel called DW (no films shows etc) and due to the really poor internet reception we couldn’t watch anything without constant buffering on our iPad. Not a huge issue I guess just would be nice in 2024 to have internet/ tv choices.

The mattresses were so hard that my sleep was disrupted every night and it was impossible to get comfortable. the bedding clean and warm enough but the pillows were also very hard and lumpy.

Our room was very noisy due to the next door bar, the wooden floors outside with guests passing by at all times and the plumbing sounding like it ran past our room from all the others, we heard all the flushing etc as if it was in our room.

We did ask to change rooms but after the reception staff asked someone else on the phone we were told we could move but we would have to pay extra for the privilege.
This was very disappointing and we gave up. The hotel was definitely not full so we could not understand why we couldn’t be moved.

As I said the hotels is lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly but due to the room issues we would not stay again

We stayed here for a week to celebrate my partner's 60th. We had a standard room, shared balcony, jacuzzi bath which was great the time we used it. Other times the shower was cool & at one point the water went off for a few minutes.

The bed was quite hard & the first night we were cold with the really thin duvet, kept the heater on low for the rest of the week not having a over blanket.

During the night the hotel dog would sometimes wake us chasing off the cats. We got used to the prayer call after a few nights.

The breakfast was ok, plenty of choice but by the end of the week we were longing for a bowl of porridge.

Dinner could be classed as "school dinners" I would recommend going bed & breakfast.

The staff were friendly, it seems to be a male oriented job , very keen to clear the table or offer drinks, possibly because February is a quiet time of year.

Our only disappointment was ordering a bottle of champagne for the room. I was expecting it in an ice bucket, waiting in the room. It was only mentioned when we booked in, letting my partner know of my surprise & when it arrived it was sparkling grape juice! Thankfully I was not charged full price, still an expensive bottle of juice.

Plenty of pubs in the old town offering cheaper drinks & meals. We would also have appreciated a kettle in our room to try out the teas we bought.

An enjoyable stay, we laughed about the misshapes comparing it to Faulty Towers.

We loved our stay here, the hotel is over 300 years old, quirky, beautiful and interesting, people would stop to admire the hotel on their way past. It is an old sultans palace and each room is named after a sultan or one of his wives. I would recommend this hotel for couples, single and families with older children, there are not really any facilities for young children.

Our room was clean and bedding was changed and fresh towels every day.

If you are looking for a central base in the old town with freshly cooked omelettes for or full Turkish breakfast this is perfect. They do have fine dining in the evenings and food available to order throughout the day, but there are some many restaurants in the area you could eat great food while out exploring.

We visited Konyaalti beach from here in a taxi approx £4-5 and also Lara Beach £9-10. Ten minute walk to the Marina and the old bazaar. Turn left out of the hotel and you are 100 m from Hadrians gate, turn right and 100m is Karaalioglu Park - all with beautiful views.

If you have mobility issues request a low floor room as there are no lifts in the older part of the hotel.

Would definitely return here, perfect for our week of adventure, less perfect if you are expecting a pool, beach holiday.

We visited for 10 nights and are just back. The hotel comprises three main sections: the old pretty bit with small pool; La Gazetta restaurant across the narrow pedestrianised street with indoor and outdoor tables (on the street and in an inner courtyard); and modern / old fashioned rooms seconds away down the side street opposite, with their own pool and a decent sunbathing area. Our two rooms (Petunya and Mimosa opposite each other) on the second floor of the modern Karden Suites block were brand new / feeling, spacious and with good air conditioning in the sitting room and bedroom, and a damn good mattress. My only gripe with the rooms is that there were no tea and coffee making facilities, although on our penultimate day we were advised by some other guests they'd been able to buy a kettle kit from the hotel for a small fee. I should also add they'll give you a second room key if asked.

The other three couples we talked to all complained that their rooms were either too small or had inadequate air-conditioning which made sleeping uncomfortable and difficult. There is also no internet connection beyond the main lobby.

We booked half board. Breakfast is just passable, if you like processed meat, chips, stale bread (which needs to be kept in a plastic tub / bag), very runny preserves and cheap coffee; and the tea and omelettes are ok. Dinner is a joke of salad / inedible beef, chicken or fish and a pudding we didn't get to the first night or subsequently as due to the poor quality of the food and chaotic service (we received our meals separately with large intervals) and pressure to buy overpriced local wine coming in at £30 a bottle, we never went back. Neither did the other three couples we talked to.

Thankfully eating out is inexpensive in the immediate area, if it's not particularly good. So during the day I'd head into the modern town and eat with the local office workers and tradespeople down Muratpasa (Street) before a light meal in the evening in the old town. The food is excellent and embarrassingly cheap. We found the best places to be Mermerili overlooking the harbour with great views for sundowners and curtesy fruit bowls thrown in even if you're on beers only. For good food there's only one place really: Vanilla a few doors down from the hotel. First-rate French for only a few pounds more. I had shortrib in red wine with lovely pureed potato and root vegetables; my better half duck a l'orange; with two glasses of the house Merlot which, wherever it was from, was excellent.

What we saw online versus what we got was different.
To start with the room was not given in main hotel, they allocated a room somewhere in the opposite building where there was no lift.
To add to this, room does not have proper AC and when we asked the hotel for table fan, they did not have any.
Room did not even have a dustbin!
Above all this, wifi does not work in rooms and hotel says yes wifi will not work in rooms. In this era we have hotels who charge so high and does not provide basic wifi facilities also.
Guess what, you will be charged for water too. It is common sense that at least 2 bottles of water are provided on daily basis and this hotel says we charge.

We just spent 1 day here and so frustrated already. No service even after paying so much for the rooms.

We have another night in the hotel and it seems very difficult to survive!

The location is great and the main building architecture is beautiful, but other than this it’s a terrible place to stay at, the reception is far from most of the rooms, and they give you one key (saying that’s the hotel’s policy) although we took the deluxe room, meaning if someone needs to leave the room the others who are there end up with no electricity or AC, and the one who leaves needs the key in order to open the main gate of the building which is far from the room! The showers have no water pressure, especially in the afternoon when everybody comes back from the beaches. We asked them many times but they didn’t do anything regarding the matter and we encountered many clients complaining from the same issue. The toilet is dirty and have no amenities only liquid soap and cheap two rolls of toilet tissue. No drinking water. The mattresses are so hard to sleep on and the pillows are small and hard too. And you are awaken at around 4 am on the sound of the Mosque prayers which is extremely near the rooms. The telephone in the room is disconnected, they told us that they all are, so if you wanna call the reception or in need of anything you have to walk all the way to the reception which is in another far building, in order to make your request!
Breakfast is very cheap considering what Turkey has to offer of variety of fresh food, the coffee is so bad and light! We were half board and when we got to the buffet by 8:20 pm most of the food was gone and we were left with bits and pieces. We booked the place for6 nights but we left , on the third day because we couldn’t sleep or shower properly. And wether you complain or not they reply that they have fixed the problem but when you get to the room you discover that they haven’t. Will NEVER go there again , it was such a bad experience, too bad we had to cut our vacation short because of it.

We only stayed at this hotel because we could not prolong our stay in the wonderful Casa del Sur hotel which is nearby and I think is the best place to stay in the old town.
We reserved the best room in the house for 90 euros because it had a fireplace and the day was cold. We were told that we could not light it because it was purely decorative even though it worked fully.
We could only shower with lukewarm water because there was no hot water.
Following morning we were led out of the hotel for breakfast to a nearby restaurant because they did not want to set the table in the hotel itself.
The staff was friendly and helpful, but the owner could not care less about the few guests staying at the hotel during Covid. His atitude was that of a guy who has made enough money with the hotel and suffers guests as a nuisance. He was around but did not bother to even say hello.

Very disappointed.

There were cockroaches in our bathroom. The sink and toilet smelt unbearable. The bedding smelt awful as well.

The room was dirty when we arrived a pair or someone’s dirty socks was left and there was hair and dust everywhere. Someone tried to come in our room at 9 am to clean, they knocked and we were fast asleep and we woke up to them trying to come in our room ( thankfully we had a chain on). They then came back knocked and let themselves in again at 10 am even though they had just come in an hour before and knew we were sleeping! I understand they have to come in and clean our rooms but I couldn’t understand why they came so early and then did the same thing an hour later when usually they don’t clean our room till 3pm. Once we finally got up we went out for breakfast and said they could clean it now and by the time we came back it wasn’t done. We then went out again and by the time we got back in the evening it had been done. Also one night we were having a shower when we heard a knock at the door and before we got the chance to get up and see who it was they let themselves in! My partner was stood there in only his underwear, they explained they wanted to check our water however they let themselves in after only 5 seconds after knocking. They didn’t give us any time to answer the door.

The breakfast was awful didn’t even have a toaster! We ate breakfast there twice and couldn’t bare it anymore so had to go and eat out the other days.

The pools are very small with very few sun beds. The main pool has about 5 sun beds. We didn’t go in this pool as we felt very uncomfortable as people were dinning around us. The other pool had only 15 sun beds and the pool was very small.

The hotel itself looks very beautiful but when you stay there it’s a different story. Some of the staff were very nice and welcoming (only a couple) the rest didn’t seem to care. We asked one staff member if they could take a photo of us and they seemed so disinterested. However there was a girl and guy behind the desk and an elder night staff man who were very nice! The night staff man sat and chatted with us, showed us round and ordered us a taxi which was very nice.

I’m very glad we came to do site seeing instead of staying in the hotel otherwise I would’ve left and booked another hotel, but as we wasn’t there much it wasn’t as bad.

Me and my partner have come back covered in spots from the bedding. Towels all had marks on also.

We had a very nice stay here. The hotel evokes time and place, being in the heart of the old town itself. Alp Pasa offers less than what you might imagine from its surroundings. Kaleici is a stunning place to holiday if you have a sense of history, since it offers much in abundance; a plethora of bars, restaurants and night life with live music literally everywhere, from Moroccan, Turkish and Western acts appearing all over the place, so you should never get bored at night. The harbour is also pretty and the food in this part not bad, just chilling out here is very relaxing when not taking a boat trip. We found the staff, not over friendly but attentive. The biggest bugbear is literally the food. I would recommend room only because the evening meals are quite tasteless, bland, unseasoned and often inedible. Continental breakfast can be a bit challenging also. EGGS! Our room was not cleaned to the standard expected from a hotel as nice as this. Towels are like sandpaper and the floor not cleaned at all.
Though our overall experience here was very enjoyable, the food was a massive let down. Also be careful as there are no lifts and lots of steps to access to get to your room. If you are a wheelchair user, you should avoid. There are three floors to climb if you are not allocated a room on the lower levels. However, this hotel is very romantic and would suit couples without children.

We show up with a large group, very tired from a long night before, four rooms booked. The hotel said they would be able to check us in early, instead they go on to take 2.5 hours till the last room is provided.

It takes them almost an hour just to do the paperwork (copy passports, etc.), no hotel has taken more than 5 min for checkin.

They promise to take the luggage up and let us know when the last room's ready, nobody does and when I come looking for them, they give me the key as if it was my problem to ask. Luggage was still sitting in the open courtyard.

For one of the rooms, two staff take up the bags (2 small carryons and a suitcase). The one guy has practically nothing and leaves midway to let the other guy do the rest. When we get to the room, I tip the guy and he has the audacity to tell me this is too little, what about for the other guy. Seriously? The guy who hardly did anything and took off? Happy to carry my own bags next time.

I ask them for a second card key and they say they don't have enough for seconds. Seriously? It's so hot here that if you don't keep one key in the room running the AC, then no one can leave and come back without waking up someone who might be resting to open the door.

The room has no toiletries except a built-in soap dispenser.

Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful heritage building in a lovely part of town. Just don't come here for the service.

Two stars only because it's a beautiful place.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at our hotel. We sincerely appreciate your feedback, as it provides us with a valuable opportunity to learn from our mistakes and continually improve our service. Hi Yes there is an all inclusive option, we did it but would not recommend! Lunchtime was the worst meal. Everything had to be signed for and a bill is produced upon check out... they try to charge you whenever they can, I would recommend the area highly as it is stunning but this hotel is lacking in all areas. We came home with ear infections from the pools(green and eventually got closed). There are some fabulous eateries in the area but this hotel is the worst we’ve ever been to.
