Detailed Reviews
Karibu was our first lodge for our Africa trip during the COVID era. We were a little nervous at first but the management and staff made our stay feel safe and sanitized. The room was clean, had its own hand sanitzer, and the staff was always wearing a facemask and face shield at all times. Thank you for an amazing stay and making us gain confidence in traveling during these times.

We spent three nights at Karibu on our honeymoon, one night on three separate occasions throughout our trip, using Karibu as a home base each time we returned to Entebbe. Karibu is conveniently located about a 10-minute drive from the Entebbe international airport, and yet Karibu will make you feel like you are in the middle of the rainforest. The grounds are pristine, covered with beautiful trees, flowers, and visited by gorgeous birdlife. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the food is first-rate, where we enjoyed some absolutely delicious meals. And yet the highlight of Karibu is its staff and management. Rhys and Sam run the guesthouse and a luxury safari tour company called Experience Uganda. They are a wealth of knowledge and could not have been more helpful and kind. We hope to one day return!

+1
I stayed here with a friend and then went back a week later with my mother as we had such a good experience!!!
Karibu is a small boutique hotel in a residential part of entebbe. It has beautiful mature gardens, a very picturesque small swimming pool and rooms offered either within the main house or in a small adjoining building with a glorious veranda area perfect for sitting and reading. There is 24 hour security and it feels very safe.
We were in the separate building which has lovely king size beds, mosquito nets and a ‘natural stone’ decor in the bathroom. Everything was super clean and beautifully presented.
You can order meals and have breakfast here. We only had breakfast as we arrived quite late in the evening having already eaten and they give us a large choice of beautifully cooked and presented hot and cold items.
They can arrange airport transfers for you and Patrick and Chris are very professional - always early and very helpful and informative.
Whilst Karibu is a gorgeous intimate setting, the real jewel in the crownu is the team. Between my two trips, I met Stella, Maggie, Rose, Dora and Florence (I hope I have not missed anybody out!). These ladies were universally amazing - kind, helpful, informative and unobtrusive. (They were also very strong as they helped me carry my extremely heavy bags when I was leaving!😂)
More than anything else it was the unfailing smiles, enthusiasm and decency of the Karibu ‘dream team’ that made this into a five star experience and makes me proud to be Ugandan. Keep up the good work!

We recently enjoyed a one night get-away and have nothing but good things to say. The room was great, with incredible water pressure in the very hot shower! The employees were professional and helpful. The food was a particular highlight, being genuinely delicious. Coordinating the stay was very easy with responsive emailing. We also appreciated the fact that in this COVID-19 season, they had put things in place to make us feel safe and comfortable.

Before selecting this hotel I read the reviews... unfortunately nobody mentioned that this hotel does not have TV, air conditioning, low internet and the airport transfers only include one way.
Besides that I enjoy my short stay, the food was excellent, the massage service superb

Dear Lourdes, Thank you very much for your review. I must say given the extensive time we all invested in copious email correspondence leading up to your one-night stay, I am a little dissapointed you've only given us a 3 star review! Over our in-depth, page-spanning discussions regarding the "free airport transfers" quoted on our home page, I was very clear on multiple occasions that it was limited to one per night of stay. The fact that you are United Nations staff did entitle you to a special price (this was nice and more than covered that second transfer, no?), but I am sorry for not bending the rules further for you based on who you work for. You are absolutely correct, we do not have TV or air-conditioning. Nor do we have an in-house casino or a roller-coaster on the premises (the logistics are just too challenging), because we do not advertise any of the above services. For any future guest reading this review for inspiration to stay - we do endeavor to offer an intimate and relaxed atmosphere in a natural setting, with a high level of service, where you'll be treated like a person, not a room number. For people looking for a soulless hotel, the type with air-con and tv and where you can close the door and be anywhere in the world - there is a fine selection to chose from in Entebbe - but its not what we are trying to offer here at Karibu. Kind Regards, Kevin Nicholson - Owner of Karibu Entebbe

Karibu was my first stop after landing in Uganda. I was picked up and got there safely and to a warm welcome. My room was clean with a very comfortable king size bed and mosquito netting. The bathroom was good. The hot water was very hot but also required some adjusting. The food was delicious, absolutely delicious. They have beer and cocktails and wine. If you happen to drink way too much, they’ll be sure you’re awake when you need to leave. They’ll also arrange a boat cruise or activities. Wonderful place. As a solo female traveler for two nights until my friends arrived I felt safe and very well taken care of.

Our stay at Karibu was just a short stopover, but we enjoyed it! We stayed here upon arriving in Entebbe before departing with our driver for a multi-stop safari trip throughout the rest of the country. A short drive from the airport, we found the staff to be incredibly welcoming and helpful, the room to be clean and comfortable, the food to be very good and the grounds to be relaxing (the pool is a nice bonus!). This place also had perhaps the most consistent WiFi of anywhere we stayed on our trip (and it worked in our room - extra plus!). We especially appreciated how the staff left us a welcome note in flowers on the bed :)

We stayed at Karibu for a couple nights upon arrival into Uganda and they were wonderful and welcoming from the start. The property is beautiful and you can do so much bird watching from your room, we were occupied even when we were still tired from our journey. The accommodations were great; the shower always had hot water, the beds were comfortable (and had a fan that kept things nice and cool!), and everything was tidy and clean. We loved all of our meals while on property as well -- shout out to the Rhino burger! We met with Kevin the day of our arrival and he helped us plan some activities whilst in Entebbe and at our next destination in Uganda. We went out with Rogers in search of the shoebill stork and found two! It was a great experience all around. We would love to return someday.

Karibu House in Entebbe took great care of us in the beginning and the end of our Uganda adventure. The rooms were lovely, the shower nice and hot. The food was all very good! The Manager and staff took care that we knew what to expect on our trip and stayed in contact whenever we needed to discuss anything at all.
Their garden area is a wonderful place to watch all kinds of interesting and unique birds, we didn't expect all the different birds!

Had an excellent stay at Karibu both times. We stayed on two single nights during airport transfers and were met with beautiful hospitality both times. The food was also delicious—great vegetarian cooking with fresh veggies and fruits. We stayed one night in a day room before a flight and were amazed with the gorgeous room, property, and greenery. Great WiFi, hot water on demand, and excellent service. Would highly recommend!
