Argamak is a brand new hotel born from the Uzbek-French partnership. And because of that, it is built with all modernity which western people need, as well as in traditional architectural style for which a foreigner is looking for when going abroad. Hotel is perfectly located at the heart of the historical part of Samarkand, with the most important sightseeing nearby. Gur-Emir mausoleum is about 5 minutes' walk, the Reghistan square is about 10 minutes' walk. The hotel has got a terrace at garden's level, and it is a real pleasure to have a breakfast there, or have a drink. Another terrace at the last storey is also at your disposal: a panoramic view at best known monuments opens from there.

A small beige bedroom overlooking a builders yard and rubbish tip. Cheap toiletries and horrible towels. Had to pay upfront on arrival without seeing room. Very overpriced. Only positives were the rose filled courtyard and nice breakfast

What a beautiful hotel! From the moment you enter the heavy door it’s like a little oasis after a hot day sightseeing. The rooms are clean & new but with old world charm. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, I didn’t want to get up! Luckily great coffee & - quite honestly - the most delicious omelet I’ve ever had awaited us for breakfast each day. The team are very friendly, attentive & helpful. Sitting on the terrace with the view, or the courtyard surrounded by flowers, was so peaceful. The only part we were unprepared for was that they only accept cash payments, but that was easily sorted. Thank you L’Argamak for a lovely stay.

Totally overpriced hotel compared to other similarly ranked ,4 star hotels in the city. Breakfast was ok. Location was ok. Room was large and ok. Staff were okay. Our main issue was that we didn’t think it was worth the price, and to make it worse, they did not take credit cards. Only cash. This was totally inconvenient. And they did not have a bank / cash machine on site. So we had to drive and find bank machines (not an easy feat ). No one wants to walk around with hundreds of dollars of cash in Uzbekistan. If We paid $80-100/night like the similar 4 star , high ranked hotels were charging, and could pay by visa , like every other hotel ,we would not have been as annoyed.

Ridiculously overpriced for what you get and compared to other options. We paid $200 for their nicest room which should have been priced at $80-100 max. The rooms are ok and spacious but nothing more than that. What bugged me the most was how cold the room was and it only had an A/C for hearing which a) wasn’t strong enough and b) you couldn’t keep on at night due to the noise… Breakfast was pretty basic too but I think that’s typical in the city. All in all, a big disappointment…

The hotel sits back from the main road and our bus had to stop up the street to drop bags. Sort of a cute hotel with friendly staff. Dining is across a small courtyard. No elevator and our rooms were upstairs. Okay for a short stay.

I was lodged at Hotel L’Argamak for three consecutive nights in October 2019 as part of a larger trip to Uzbekistan. The very high ranking of the hotel on TripAdvisor and the very positive description of the hotel in the Lonely Planet Central Asia guidebook were the main reasons for me selecting this lodging. Making a reservation was a simple and straightforward process. Using the hotel's official website, I selected my preferred room type (Double Deluxe) and dates of stay. After entering the details of my credit card to secure my reservation, I was immediately e-mailed a reservation voucher, which I eventually printed and brought with me when I departed for Samarkand. When I arrived at the train station in Samarkand on the Afrosiyob train, a taxi from the station to the hotel was a negotiated fare of 40,000 Som and took about 25 minutes in moderate late-evening traffic. And when I arrived at the hotel, the check-in process with the receptionist, during which I received the key to my room, was fast and efficient. The bedroom of my room (#105) featured a king-size bed with four large and soft pillows, sheets and comforter of excellent quality (clean with no stains or holes), and a very firm mattress. Two nightstands with lamps, a small table with three chairs, writing desk with chair, a mirrored desk with stool, a padded bench, armoire, and dresser with flat screen television with satellite were also present. In-room amenities included a kettle and coffee maker with coffee/tea accessories, a minibar (with complimentary wine, beer, water, and soda due to my room type), two robes with slippers, powerful air conditioning, and strong wi-fi. The bathroom featured a combination bathtub and shower (with handheld shower wand) ample hot water and strong water pressure, and large and clean towels and washcloths. Amenities in the bathroom included a bidet, hair dryer, makeup mirror, and a small selection of toiletries. European-style power outlets were located throughout the bathroom and bedroom. In the mornings, breakfast (complimentary) was an all-you-can-eat buffet of hard-boiled eggs, sausage, sliced meats/cheese, oatmeal, rice pudding, buckwheat, dried fruit, sliced/fresh fruit, yogurt, breads and spreads, pastries, honey, candies, coffee, tea, and juice. Additional prepared eggs (omelette, fried, or scrambled) could be ordered on request. Breakfast was filling and the service was excellent each morning during my stay. For travelers desiring a quiet hotel with an ideal location in Samarkand, Hotel L’Argamak is located near the historic part of the city, with all major tourist sights, restaurants, currency exchange, and even a supermarket (Mandarin) very easy and short walks from the hotel. For three consecutive nights at Hotel L’Argamak, I paid $696 USD (cash). Upon completion of my stay, the transfer by taxi from the hotel to the train station in Samarkand was provided for free by the hotel and took about 20 minutes in moderate early-afternoon traffic. For a future trip to Uzbekistan, I would have no problem selecting Hotel L’Argamak again for my lodging in Samarkand, and would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in the city for any length of time.

Initial impression was good; authentic style and spacious rooms. Was booked for two nights with a small tour group, but while I was out on the second afternoon, the staff packed my belongings without my knowledge and evicted me in favour of a larger tour group. The manager then denied all knowledge of double-booking the room, and I only found out when my guide came to find me. So unprofessional. If you're going to stay at this hotel, make sure you have everything in writing and triple check with the manager and staff.

The hotel is about 2 mins' walk from the entrance to the Amir Timur Mausoleum and 10 mins' walk from Registan. Hotel was clean and well-maintained, service was very friendly and breakfast, which is served in the garden terrace, was well presented with a wide variety of choices. WiFi was sporadic and not working most of the time. Mini bar in room was a bit expensive, so if you want to have sun downers on the terrace, bring something from outside. The receptionist ordered a cab for us, of which price was quite reasonable. Overall a wonderful stay.

We stayed at the property for 2 nights in October 2019; the rooms were beautifully decorated and the breakfast spread was excellent. The hotel is located 2 mins walk from the entrance to the Amir Timur Mausoleum so it’s easy to get to other places of interest and has lots of decent restaurants nearby. WiFi works fine and they have a first floor roof terrace which is handy. Overall a wonderful stay.

Our double room with bath overlooked the hotel terrace with views over Amir Temurs Mausoleum ( only 2-3 minutes away ) The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Registan and restaurants around there as well as 15 minutes from restaurants in the University area ( off University Boulevard). Service in hotel starting with Amir in reception was very friendly and breakfast ( in the garden terrace ) well presented with a wide variety of choices.Free WiFi was generally satisfactory ( dropped out only a couple of times) . Mini bar in room was well stocked and reasonably priced. Only things preventing 5 * rating is lack of restaurant for dinner and location / access is not too prepossessing ( but typical of “ off main road” in town generally )
