Hi
You have at least 3 options.
1. Bus - the cheapest can take 4-7 hours depending on date and time. (we do not take the bus) I do not know the prices.
2. The Train - you can arrange for tickets, ask for the most expensive - 250, 000. 00 VND do not take the cheapest seats- they are wooden benches. Can take from 4 - 5 hrs depending. There are toilets and service of snacks and drinks.
We often take the train to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Then when you arrive in Phan Thiet you will need to take a cab to Mui Ne for 270.000. 00 more of less if you are going to Shades.
3. Private car- $130.00 (one way) for a car, costs more for larger vehicles. Can take 5 - 7 hrs depending on traffic - dates and time. You can go and stop as you wish.
Taking vehicles can be a problem because of traffic and presently road construction.
It is about 230 KM from HCMC, but traffic moves slow.
We always have booked our train and car through travel one: onetravel
However, there are many travel agencies that offer the same services.
Safe travels!
