Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dear Pophor. Thank you very much for your feedback. We are chuffed to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for mentioning chairs in the room and storage space. We are currently addressing our rooms and where they can fit, we will add chairs and kettles etc. We have a welder putting together some new hanging space too. It's a slow process as we have over 30 private rooms and always lots of upgrades to do which we do as and when we can afford them. Thanks again for the review. With best wishes, Elissa

Stayed for a few nights recently while visiting Vic Falls on the Zambian side in one of the twin bed rooms in the garden area. The standard of accommodation, for the price, was very impressive: the room had A/C, was very clean and presentable and also had a very high quality shower (a rarity in backpackers hostels!). For the price paid it was incredible value and in reality closer to a hotel standard. The bar and restaurant area were also very nice and well maintained with good drink prices and friendly staff. Shout out to Miriam who was excellent in organising activities, transfers and laundry for us and generally extremely helpful. Highly recommended for a stay in Livingstone.

Understand this is a backpackers hotel primarily, communal kitchen, shared fridge, basic rooms. But I loved it. the gardens are very nice, swimming pool, firepit each night, and a very comfy bar area. Breakfast offered next morning (included depending on your room standard) was fine. Staff were great, good security, nice chill out place. A few resturants close by, two fast food places and a big Shoprite supermarket right over the road. Can't comment on the dorm accomodation, but our rooms were fine for the price. Mozzie net, 2 cans of spray in room, aircon that worked well. Its not the Ritz, but it doesnt try to be. Go with eyes open knowing you are in a budget place and you won't be disappointed. Alcohol prices ridiculously cheap. Can pay in USD or kwacha on site no problem. £40 GBP / night inc breakfast = bargain. I am 62, wanted to backpack a bit and stay in this sort of place and it was great. Friendly people/guests all like minded, not stuck up nobs complaining about everything. Refreshing change for us. Good experience.

tonyjane, thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are chuffed to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much. Thank you for clarifying to other potential guests, what Fawlty Towers is about. Yep, we offer clean, basic, affordable accommodation and are constantly striving to improve our rooms and facilities... which can be a slow process and done as and when we can afford the upgrades, but as you say, most people, who understand the budget accommodation/backpacker concept, will be very happy here. Although we offer budget prices, we don't scrimp on mattresses and linen.. We have hotel quality mattresses in all our private rooms, good quality pillows and 100% cotton bedding, hopefully giving all our guests a good night's sleep. We offer a number of value added products (at no additinal charge) including our free basic breakfast to those in private rooms, free tea and instant coffee all day, free panckes every afternoon, a complimentary water in the private rooms, a subsidized shuttle to the Victoria Falls, free Wifi, etc. We try to keep our basic lunches affordable and our drinks in the bar well priced. Thanks again for such lovely feedback. We are so chuffed you had a good stay. With best wishes, Elissa

A true oasis in a busy city. Behind the grey facade on the outside lies a beautiful garden, with a nice bar, and swimming pool. The rooms are build around the garden and are very decent. The swimming pool is very clean and the bar is a nice place for some gin and tonics. Pricing is reasonable and the location within the city is very central. You can walk to the market, kubu cafe and several restaurants on mosi o tunya road. Parking can be safely done behind the doors of the hotel

I was in Livingstone for the sole purpose of going to Victoria Falls for the Devils pool experience. I looked for accommodation and Fawlty Towers always appeared at the top of the search list and I fully understand why. The place is beyond excellent. The service is superb, the people are amazing and will really go out of their way to ensure your stay is memorable. 10/10 Would recommend. Thank you Fawlty towers.

We had a lovely 2 weeks staying at Fawlty Towers. We initially had booked the accommodation for a trip to Zambia in 2020 but due to the pandemic were not able to go. They were happy to keep our reservation credit for up to 2 years, and when we went this year, as we were staying for half as long as our original trip, they were happy for us to put the remaining credit towards activities at the guest house. The guest house is very peaceful and cosy while being right in the middle of Livingstone, and very close to Victoria Falls, for which they provide a shuttle bus for guests to visit. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was a lovely swimming pool, restaurant and bar despite it not being a big resort. They also provided guests with free pancakes every afternoon which was an awesome touch. The staff were all great, including the onsite beautician/masseuse who we visited a few times for services like pedicure, massage, etc. The guesthouse also has good links with lots of trip and activity companies in the area and are able to get good prices for these. We enjoyed a day trip safari to Chobe in Botswana, went abseiling, visited an elephant cafe, even saw a Lunar rainbow at Victoria Falls, among lots of other activities. The one critique we had was that the wifi was slow at times but we appreciate this is not limited to the guest house (though it was better in the bar/restaurant area). All in all a wonderful experience and we would happily stay again.
