Chilo is situated in one of the most unique locations of Zimbabwe directly on the edge of the Gonarezhou national park. Home to over 8000 elephants! Wildlife is abundant and sitting on the deck of this luxury lodge you're able to see the wildlife come to drink directly at the river just below. Increible way to wake up, enjoy breakfast,...

My very first visit to Chilo with a group of friends. We flew in from Harare , which I recommend as it is a six hour drive from Harare! Chilo is not rustic ....It's a hotel built with much thought given to the enviroment - it appears only as you arrive and disappears into its surrounds. Built on a hill...

The magic of Chilo Gorge lies not only in its remote bush location, but the fact that it is operated by the most avid and respected conservationists in the region - arguably in the whole of Zimbabwe. The splendour of the sprawling gardens and thatched lodge, perched atop a cliff overlooking the Save River is breathtaking. As is the view...

We stayed at Chilo Gorge for 4 nights in December 2016 and absolutely loved every minute there! The view from the lodge and our room was stunning! The staff were unbelievable and really bent over backwards to help us out and accommodate our every need! Our guide Thomas was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the bush. We thought the...

4 nights in a little paradise. No need to pay the earth to experience a piece of earth that deserves to be visited. Everything from the arrival at the gate to the last goodbye speaks of the wonder of the African bush. Trips into the park the highlight and Thomas who was our guide deserves a special mention here. Driving for a few hours through the hot, barren landscape from Zaka to Chiredzi got me dreading the next couple of days I would be spending in the lowveld, but then we arrived at Chilo - an oasis of green, lush lawns, awesome hospitality, incredible views & a HUGE herd of elephants drinking from the river! Despite the high temps...

Chilo Gorge is truly a special place in a country full of special places! We had a wonderful stay here over a few days in early October. An awesome setting to relax! Overlooking the gorge and river it provides endless hours of fascination. Animals take their turns to come and drink from the river, mother goose endlessly watches her offspring, guiding them past the waiting crocodiles, who spend the day planning their next encounter. The ripples on the river are the only sign of where once stood...
