Our visit to Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge exceeded all our expectation. The hospitality was the very best, for the reception, to the restaurant and bar, and the guiding. We could not have wished for anything more. The trip into the park was guided with expertise and with great awareness of our interests. The park looked fabulous after the rains, and we saw over 130 species of birds and some special mammal sightings. The food was varied and excellent - eaten the most beautiful of settings. Our room had a lovely view - and we heard leopard very nearby at night. Thank you to Clive and Lin and all your lovely staff for a trip we will remember for a long time.
This exquisite lodge must be in one of the best locations in Africa but don't go there if you are on a tight budget. Best to go during the dry season (April - October) when you can cross the river causeway and drive into the National Park otherwise you will have to fork out a lot of money for the lodge-organised excursions which while conducted by a team of excellent guides were sadly out of our league price-wise. The self-catering facilities could do with a bit of an upgrade and staff were not as energetic as they could have been. Perhaps the Covid-19 situation has marred morale? A combination of a five-day marathon power-outage and extreme heat turned what was meant to be a dream holiday into a rather subdued experience. The lodge needs to put in a reliable solar power system as Zimbabwe's electricity situation is not going to get any better and trying to survive Save valley temperatures without a fan at night is not a pleasant experience.…
We spent 5 nights at Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge, our lodge was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very conscious of social distancing. Laureen on the front desk was excellent very attentive, our guide Thomas was beyond excellent he is such a knowledgeable, obliging man and we enjoyed every minute with him cannot praise them highly enough. We would most definitely go back again.
Our stay was just fabulous! Despite the long drive there, it was totally worth it. Nambo is absolutely comfortable with terrific views. The staff are super polite and helpful throughout and I’ve never seen so many animals as I did at the Pans, just across the Save. Lodge dinners were great. We’ll definitely be back. Chilo is simply in a league of its own when compared to so many so called lodge offerings around, and they have made it more than ever accessible to locals! We both fell in love with Chilo!
The location of the Safari Lodge gives it one of the best views of the Save River and Gonarezhou National Park across. The Service is pretty good and the food is brilliant. It is value for money if one is thinking of going there for holiday.
