My second stay within 2 years. This is one of my favorite hot spring hotels in Japan. I prefer modern design than the traditional Japanese design. Hotel and staff are still nice. There is Andrew from the US who can speak fluent English. Comfortable beds. Diner and breakfast were perfect. I also enjoyed free coffee during the day and free... More

We stayed here for four nights in July. Our room was lovely, a Japanese-Western hybrid with a private bathroom and separate sitting room. It was clean and very quiet. The staff were always very courteous, polite and helpful, and although only one staff member spoke (excellent) English, they all made an effort to communicate and even engage in small talk.... More

We booked this place the night before, when planning to hike at kamikochi. Earlier the plan was to stay in kamikochi but the prices of the hotel inside was really expensive. We decided to book this place instead because they have a private onsen in the room and serves kaiseki dinner. Overall was pleased with the stay, food was great... More

Hotel is set in the lovely countryside. Facilities are excellent & the rooms well appointed. Like walking on the tatami corridors & rooms. Do note that shoes are not allowed in the hotel & they keep your shoes and provide slippers for wearing in the hotel. The Bbq(on a table grill) Hida beef is excellent.

Location: at Hirayu Onsen a bit away from the clusters of ryokan. plenty parking space. excellent forest and mountain view. A large ryokan with a few wings. Service: staff are hospitable, some staff with limited English skill. Our room is a bit of a walk in the other wing up to 2nd level with steps. Staff was helpful to help... More

My family and I visited Miyama Ouan after spent 3 nights at Kawakushigo lake. The journey on our private van was impressive with beautiful surrounding nature connecting via the Japanese road tunnels. We rode for about 2.5 hours drive and arrived at Miyama Ouan. Non of the resort staffs speak a word of English and the Resort Manager is also... More

After long driving to the hotel, Kogaito Masaomi, the so-called hotel manager, just complain us of bring snacks to the room and not allow us to check in to the room. He also checked our snack box without our permission. His altitudes are worst among all the japan hotels. He is not the right person to be the hotel manager.... More

Location is not nearby by the bus station, around 10 minutes walking distance to there. But we drove during the trip, so it is not the problem to us. We have to take off shoes before walking to the hotel lobby. One thing pity is, the yukata is not free in the hotel, we have to pay if we want... More

This hotel is a mixture of Western and Japanese design. I did not expect such new and modern hotel in the middle of mountains. Beautiful views. Must try the private baths - to be booked upon check in. Love to visit again.

I was attracted by the view of the private and public onsen for this hotel, and the hotel met all my expectations: clean, comfort and tidy room, delicious dinner with A5 beef cuisine, helpful staff, variety of kimono for choosing, beautiful mountain view for open hotspring ...... it is value for money in all aspects and i will surely recommend... “Everywhere inside the hotel are well served by lifts or staircases, there will be no accessibility problem for ppl with luggages, kids and elderly. But i noted that some large family suites located near private onsen took some walk through the wooden corridor, on which will be a bit slippery for elderly to walk through during rainny or snowy days.”
