I should start by saying that my teenager was sick this day, and they were very nice and helpful in my care for him. They asked whether he needed anything extra to help care for him. We messed up the room due to the illness yet they cleaned it impressively and with no fuss. The lack of much English with...

We stayed at this Ryokan recently as a couple for one night at an authentic Japanese Inn and we were not disappointed. After having stayed in hotels during our time in Japan it was lovely to experience something so simple and different. This is a small family run ryokan in the old part of Kanazawa - about a 10min walk...

Very traditional ryokan, lots of Japanese staying here and enjoying themselves. Room very clean. Plenty of wash basins and very nice public bath. I hurt my leg falling in a street drain (beware in the dark) and the staff sat me down and brought ice and towels and hot tea. There was a choice of Japanese or western breakfast, a...

Staff doesn't speak English, you'll need your hands to communicate, not that willing to help either Rooms are simple but fine Public bath and toilets, all Japanese style to immerse you in their culture Location is good, very near the west entrance of the castle park, but not close to the station, like 25 min on foot

This is a small family run ryokan right in the middle of the old part of Kanazawa and very close to the castle. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The family were so considerate at all times, offering umbrellas and even drying us off when we came back wet! The evening meal was a thing of beauty and should not...

Ryokan is Japanese style inn meaning limited furniture, no privacy and you sleep on the mats, so get ready for hard pillow and futon on the mat floor, for one night no problem but I wouldn’t extended it. They do have Wi-Fi and there is lounge with chairs and tables so there is back support while sitting available, the deal...

After reading reviews, looked forward to this ryokan and was sorely disappointed. The narrow green concrete walled room was small, grim and had us out in the rain rather than remaining in such an unpleasant space. The young women were pleasant but we never got a smile or acknowledgment of our presence from the elderly man at the entry. The...

We chose this Ryokan because my daughter told us we had to experience at least a couple of nights in a real Japanese hotel during our trip to Japan. Being somewhat older than the average traveller, I had some trepidation but agreed to go ahead. First, the Ryoken itself. It is well sited, close to the castle, gardens and the...

We stayed here for three nights. Rooms are big but simple. Most of the staff speak good english and they are all very service minded and friendly. The ryokan has a shuttle service to the railway station upon leaving. The food is great and plentyfull!' Choice of western or japaneese breakfast. Location is perfect and close to all major sights!

The best thing about the Nakayasu Ryokan is the experience of staying at a family run Ryokan. The breakfast provided in the morning is also very tasty and feels authentic. The rooms and lobby are clean - but feel slightly worn. There's nothing luxurious or fabulous about the place (words some reviewers have described) but it feels comfortable and convenient....
