The owners were very friendly and helpful and speak reasonable English. Nice inn in residential area with delightful furnishings in public rooms - comfortable and convenient. Lovely breakfast cooked for you, they do either a Western or a Japanese, you do not have much choice but it is home cooked. The owners have collected all kinds of interesting items and...

I had, by choice, a very comfortable, Western-style room (with no particular Japanese feel) which was quiet and spacious as well. (There are areas of the Inn that are Japanese in style.) As other reviewers have remarked, the family is exceedingly welcoming and kind. Being near the two superb gardens in Kanazawa was great, and a couple of the museums...

The people who own this inn have worked hard to make it individual and nice. It is in a semi residential area but very near an interesting kimono painting shop. They are very helpful, there is a landing with microwave and tea and coffee and the room was a reasonable size for Japan. The breakfasts are very nice although not...

I can't say enough good things about this inn. We were on a family trip and rented several of the inn's rooms. The owners made us feel like it was our home. They attended to our every need before we knew we needed it. The rooms were all very comfortable and well maintained. Don't skip the breakfast as it was...

We stayed two nights in early April and found this Inn an unexpected pleasure. It is so well located for the kenroku-en garden and for easy access to bus stops for the city loop bus to visit other attractions. The inn is in a quiet street and has a lovely setting and garden which we enjoyed from our spacious room...

The Camellia Inn is truly enchanting, the rooms are minimalist but what they lack in luxury is more than made up by the warmth of the welcome from Mr & Mrs Sawano and their son. Mrs Sawano is a wonderful cook and enjoys spoiling her guests - whether you are having dinner, breakfast or merely snacks around the bar -...

We recently (April) returned to the Camellia Inn in Kanazawa for the second time. On our first stay we were enchanted with the Inn, the Sawano family who run it, and especially Mrs Sawano's cooking. We were not disappointed when we returned. The Inn was as charming as before, one of the most charming inns we've ever stayed in. The...

A fantastic place to stay when in Kanazawa (little Kyoto). Camellia Inn is charming and delightful. There is nothing like returning after a day of walking around Kanazawa and relaxing in the lounge / private library area with a cocktail while listening to classical European background music. Family run, the Sawano’s are well travelled and this shows in their eclectic...

The Camellia Inn is a wonderful place with helpful owners. It combines traditional architecture with modern conveniences. The room we had was spacious and comfortable with Western style beds and bathroom. The bathtub is not the usual small tub as in most Japanese hotels. There is closet and storage space and comfortable chairs in the room for relaxing. There is a...
