Here and Kamikochi gracious deity are a sacred place at the location of the Kamikochi first. Please don't cross Kappa-bashi bigger bridge from Kamikochi bus terminal. 3 KM of plain hike for about about 50 minutes is needed. Please come by a backpacking. Further, I'll worry, so would you arrive at around 4 o'clock p.m. The basic equipment amenity is even. We also have shampoo and hair conditioner in Hotakadake view bathroom. Even female trip alone can be relieved. When there is a lot of baggage absolutely at a foreign way. There is also baggage keeping at Kamikochi bus terminal. When leaving it by 16:30 afternoon, you can keep it until the next day. The mountains which sparkles with the morning sun in early morning and a morning fog in a pond. and twitter of a little bird are the feature. Of course, there are only great outdoors here. All charges will be a cash disbursement of Japanese yen. This is a cottage. Cheap dormitory sharing a room is also besides the general Japanese-style room.

The couple stayed overnight at the end of July. As mentioned in the introduction of the inn, it is not a hospitality inn but an inn for climbers. We stayed because we wanted to explore Kamikochi slowly. My husband liked the location of the bus terminal because it was noisy with a lot of tourists. I got up at 5 o'clock and went for a walk to see the morning haze of the river and a group of monkeys. I made a Reservation for a private room, but there is no TV, no refrigerator, no tissues. I lay my own futon. The facility is relatively new and clean. There is no air conditioning and it is so cool in the morning and evening that even in the middle of summer I need trainers. There are fewer side dishes for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, if you ask them the day before, they will make you lunch. The bath was good, but I was sorry I could not use it in the morning. Mt. Myojin can be seen. Hair dryers are available to rent at the front desk. Wi-Fi is available, but lights out at 21:30. The accommodation is limited, so it was high season, and I don't think it's worth the price.

We hiked from the bus terminal to this guesthouse which also serves lunch. On the way we could walked down to the river and took some lovely photos with autumn leaves. There are many tables and seats outside the guesthouse. I ordered Oden and it was good. After lunch, we crossed the bridge across Asuza River and soon reached the Okunomiya Torii.

As a solo traveller up on Kamikochi, one won't have much choice as most lodging places only offer double rooms. Both accommodation and meals cost significantly more than in Tagayama. But, if you consider that everything comes with over an hour of driving, and removing the garbage from Kamikochi's restuarants and guest house would mean the same, then, being more expensive would not be so unreasonable. We do pay more in Venice comparing to Mestra just on the outskirt, right? Unfortunately there is only one review in English on tripadvisor which I can understand. So I refer to travel blogs in Chinese (which are not so negative) prior to booking my lodging place. On arrival, the owner told me about the best hour of watching sunrise and visiting Myojin Pond. He probably explained that to the rest of Japanese guests in the cafeteria during supper (I saw him pointing at similar photos on the wall). Then I noted that I was the only English speaking guest they had that evening. How thoughtful it was for him to give me an individual briefing in English. Both Japanese and Chinese take bath at the end of the day, instead of in the morning as in Western culture. So the pm hours are fine for me. Most guests were probably tired after hiking, and all girls in my room were all in bed around 8 pm, well ahead of the light off time at 9:30 pm. The light off policy did help me to get up, refreshed, even at 5 am the next morning for watching sunrise. I was lucky have a bunk bed all to myself, and my roommates are polite and considerate, therefore sleep quality was fine. I would still recommend this place to Western travellers if they are willing to try out Japanese food and traditional scrub-down and soak kind of bath. For those who wish to choose their own food, or need even more budget lodging, try out wild camping. The camp sites are extremely well equipped, and are gorgeous in scenery.

1. The price they are charging for a bed in a dorm per night is 90usd including breakfast and dinner. This is very much taking into account that both meals are japanese style and you have no idea what you are eating and they are quite poor. 2. You can only shower between 15:00 to 20:00. Only japanese style shower. Showers looked quite dirty...even though they are being cleaned every day. 3. Toilets: japanese style - a hole in the ground. 4. Night curfew: electricity is being turned off at 21:30 which means no charging cellulars nothing. 5. Staff is very nice but can hardly speak english and they kinda look at westerners as they eat as it were some kind of attraction for them. 6. Location: 1 hour by foot from kamikochi bus station forest walking, very close to myojin pond which is very beautiful. 7. Nothing to do in the evening or in case weather is bad. No TV, no books no electricity after 21:30. 8. The staff is nice and kind which is very good.
