My husband and I had always wanted to get to the Izu area and we knew we wanted someplace close to the water while also enjoying a quiet and relaxing get away. There's not much to see in the surrounding area, so don't go there for more than a day perhaps. The hotel/ryoken was just lovely! We were upgraded for a bigger room, which was so kind of them! The private hot springs around the area were wonderful as well. It was our japaneese experience and we tried their dinner and breakfast...

This restaurant inn is located in the Izu Mountains but close to the shore. Mostly Japanese style rooms but there are two western rooms. There are 7 hot spring private baths. It is completely integrated into the nature around. Stores, small museums and rocky beach are in the neighborhood and accessible on foot. The inn serves excellent Japanese tasting menu....

I did not think it was possible to force a relaxed mode on people until I stayed at this place. Check in is made after you are served tea and a snack. Everything was explained in fluent english and kimonos recommended to wear at all time. The hot springs are addictive and the food a display of art. I recommend...

“Rooms are at different rates, but all are great! Imagine waking up in a forest with birds tweeting, you will love it. They do have western style room, but I'd definitely recommend the traditional Japanese one.”
