Private onsen inside room given us extra comfort and relaxing. The Hotel is convenient to the nearest tourist spot such as the famos lighting tower and various temples. Also in the morning we can visit the opposite island.

Located in the area with associate hotels - transfer from near station can be arranged through these hotels. Quiet place and within walking distance there is small town facing sea ports with old houses. Spa is also good with ocean view of Setonaikai.

My girlfriend and i were looking for a good ryokan but not too expensive (can go to 300 euros in Kyoto...) So we've been looking for something on our way from Miyajima to Kyoto (we had a Japan Rail Pass) and found this place in a city nobody seems to care about, as well as japanese people as tourists. And what a surprise ! The city in itself is ugly but the Ryokan is heaven ^^ Everybody was very nice to us, the meal was THE BEST MEAL I EVER ATE IN MY WHOLE LIFE !!! I was told kaiseki ryori was awesome... But i didn't expect something so good, so tasty and so light... The room was incredible, we also spent one of the best nights of our lives in real japanese futon, not the one you get in any hotel in Japan. The private bath & the common bath were really good and relaxing, nothing to say about those. We enjoyed walking in yukata in the hotel and being just the two of us. I'd do it again if i was in Japan !!

We had a sea view room with hot tub/onsen included and this was such a treat. We aren't comfortable with the public onsens so this made our stay so wonderful by being able to soak in the hot tub and gaze at the beautiful islands alongside the coast. The staff at the hotel might not speak much English but they try their best to assist in any way they can. We had a particularly helpful server (Manami Oki) in the dining room who made meal times so enjoyable with our endevour to understand what is being served. We filled our bellies with amazingly fresh and beautiully presented food at each meal (we had the breakfast & dinner plan) that was more than enough to fuel us each day. The quality of the meals plus the superb tradional room with onsen made the value of the package so worthwhile. Highly recommended for couples seeking a nice relaxing treat in this peaceful fishing port town.

We stayed here for one night in April during our trip to South West Japan during the sakura season. We arrived at Fukuyama station from Hiroshima. We had arranged to take the shuttle to Tomonoura. However, were not exactly sure where to wait or what type of vehicle we were waiting for. We had expected to see a vehicle with the hotel name or for someone to hold a card with our name or hotel name. But it is actually a vehicle which is taking picking up pax for many hotels in Fukuyama. We actually missed it and called the hotel and the bus turned back to pick us. The hotel is located by the sea. Unfortunately, it was raining the day we arrived and so the sky was grey. I'm sure it would have been beautiful if the sky was blue. Taking the 1.40 pm shuttle, it took almost an hour to get to the hotel after the drop off of various pax at different hotels. On hindsight, we should have taken a taxi and not be restricted by the shuttle time, and can arrive earlier. By the time we checked in and go out for a walk, it was after 3pm and even though it was a weekday (Friday), the shops close at 4pm. We were lucky that we got to the Ota residence nearby before closing. My suggestion is take a taxi and arrive early if you want to walk around the old town. We only had time to browse a few shops before all the shutters when down. Our room was facing the sea and had an attached outdoor onsen. We had paid more for this luxury and no regrets. It was lovely. Dinner was served in a dinning room and together with breakfast was included in our package. A good Kaiseki dinner. We enjoyed the Japanese breakfast too. The next morning, as we had a long day planned ahead, we left by the 9.40am shuttle. I doubt we will ever come back here again. It is pretty out of the way, and while the old town is nice, it is small, and not much to see, especially for us who have been to Kyoto and Takayama and visited their old towns. But If you want a quiet getaway though, this is a nice place.

We stayed here in a private bath room and it was outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and took time to teaching us how to wear a kimono properly (they provide you kimonos for your stay) and other aspects of guest houses. We were picked up from Fukyama station by bus and taken to the hotel. The bath was as it looks in the photo. Beautiful view, private, and very relaxing. The dinner alone is worth the cost of staying here. The seven course meal had at least 14 different types of seafood and many other delicious dishes. Breakfast was also splendid. A traditional Japanese experience that we would highly recommend to others traveling to Japan.
