Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The highlight of the hotel is definitely the buffet breakfast. I would say it's similar to a luxury hotel buffet. A lot of variety and good quality food. The room is the Japanese standard size. Nothing to say about it. The view from the room to Mt. Hakodate and the port is very nice. The hotel front staff is very helpful too. I would like to come back here.

Hotel's Favourite
We booked two rooms for 3 adults. Our 2 twin room was probably upgraded from the basic room (due to elite status) and had single sofa, coffee maker, frig station, desk. Bathroom is nice and automated bidet. The other room had 1 twin bed with no coffee/frig stand and very minimal walk space. The only problem with the stay is that both rooms were stuffy and it was May. Central air control could only be adjusted lowest to 20 degree Celsius but it really did not ventilate nor cool the room. We used the air freshener at high power to provide air flow but it did not cool the room. We had to propped open the window for a tiny opening for cold air. Breakfast for 2 was provided due to marriott elite status. Breakfast selection was very very good. Location is next to JR station.

Nice, clean hotel. Conveniently located directly across JR Hakodate Station and Morning Marketplace. Breakfast buffet included - very good quality. Room AC not able to go lower than 20 degrees Celsius. Bathroom had faint smell of sewage throughout stay however. Slightly unpleasant but not strong enough to make it unbearable.

The sashimi and quality of food provided was excellent and consistent for the two mornings i spent. Great spread, great quality and the hotel breakfast was a good introduction to most of the available food surrounding us like the morning market, salt ramen, cheesecake and hokkaido mild (so awesome). Unlimited ikura is a massive plus point too 😍

This is a top tier hotel just to the right of the Hakodate Train Station exit (you can literally throw a snowball and reach it). It is a very inexpensive for the high quality of hotel (~AUD119 per night). It is a modern hotel that could be used for Business or indeed family stays. We had trouble controlling the air conditioning and it was very hot in our room at night. We turned off the A/C (instructions were in Japanese and I could not decipher as I only know Australian and learning English), opened the window and even with the cold and snow outside, the room was too hot to sleep. I resorted to using wet towels to try and cool myself. If you like a warm room then you will like it but it was very uncomfortable for me. The hotel itself was great otherwise and of course most people probably prefer a warm room in the winter of February. The hotel is quite large and has shopping/resturants downstairs and at other levels within the quite extensive hotel complex. The walk to the Hakodate Cable ride to the top of the hill takes a good 25 minutes or so (we caught a taxi back as the slope would have been too treacherous to walk with the ice). The road there can be slippery if it is iced up but the view and restaurants from the top are well worth it. It can be relatively quiet at night but if you want a great sushi/sashimi resturant go downstairs at the shopping arcade across the road, diagonally over to your right when you leave the hotel. It has a great selection of seafood but sorry did not write down the name of it (from my receipts I believe it is called Kaitenzushi Nemuro Hanam HOKKAIDO).

The location of the hotel is amazing and the staff are really friendly at the hotel. Bravo to the staff named Hsu as he helped a lot for me for organizing my late check in and keep me informed along my way to the hotel abut the weather condition. Only concern is that the room seems a bit small.

Situated next to the station, and the airport bus stops right in front, as do the buses to the ferry port. Close to tram stops, the renowned morning market, and to Hakodate's lively yoko-cho (pub nightlife) area. Huge buffet breakfast, and complimentary superb coffee in the lobby - sadly, evenings only. The economy single rooms are a bargain.

Tiny rooms, but good service and a wonderful location. Our experience at Sheraton Hakodate was good. We spent one night in transit to Sapporo. Given the small size of our room, I couldn’t have stayed much longer, but we did enjoy our stay. The hotel is immediately adjacent to the Hakodate Morning Fish Market and Hakodate Station - you’re not going to get a better location than that! Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and affordable. Recommended, but remember, the rooms are truly Japanese size.

Thank you for staying at Four Points by Sheraton Hakodate. The water pressure in the breakfast and shower was good, I'm glad. However, the hardness of the mattress and the length of the curtain remain unsatisfactory, and the hotel will consider it as a future improvement plan. Thank you for posting while you are busy. We look forward to seeing you again.
