We stayed for 2 nights and had a great experience. We stayed in Senkei Yamagoso which are a few private cabins next to the hotel. The room (living room and bed room) were spacious (and remember you are in Japan), but the hospitality and the food (dinner as well as the Japanese breakfast were amazing! Although we did have our... This is everything you could look for in terms of a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Everyone was incredibly hospitable and gracious. Also had the best sleep of my life here, so that was pretty amazing. The rooms are basically their own traditional Japanese homes complete with bedrooms, living rooms, screened in porches and bathroom / outhouse. All with tatami mats... More

If you are looking for a truly traditional experience during your stay in Japan, then this is the place! An atmosphere of calm and tranquillity descends the moment you step inside. Everything was first class and every need was catered for. I would recommend the half board option as dinner was amazing. despite not knowing what every course consisted of,... More

Yamagaso is a traditional Japanese ryokan, very nice and quiet yet not too far from the main train station. The room is not new though nice and clean throughout. The meals offered by the ryokan was amazing. The onsen facility is nice. If you seek for traditional japanese experience, i would highly recommend this place.

Very nice hotel, reception staff were very accommodating. Spoke both Japanese and English. The room was very clean and tidy. Not the best location. There is a train station next to the hotel but depending which line you're going on can depend on how long it takes to get to the entrance and platform. There's not a whole lot of... More

This was the one hotel we decided our budget didn't matter. Such a beautiful traditional ryokan room surrounded by beautiful gardens. The Yamagaso rooms a large traditional huts that had an entrance way, lounge room, bed room, bathroom and private hot spring bath. The lounge room even had a heated table (kotatsu). Breakfast and dinner is included, the selection of... More

I planned a night at Yamagaso and was not disappointed. The ryokan is just a short walk (about 10mins) away from the main train station. We had such a lovely experience. Service was excellent, and we had a very interesting chat with the lovely ladies managing the Ryokan. It felt like we were being welcomed very warmly into a beautifully... More

Beautiful traditional reykiu. We went in winter time so it was very cold but the rooms were at perfect temperature. They have three onsen on the spot plus a private one in your room. Staff was very friendly although they spoke little English. The food was superb.

Stayed for 2 nights, and booking online we didnt know that we got the "No Meal" package. If we had somehow got the "With meal" package, where they serve you breakfast and dinner in your room, that would have been nice. We got a villa at the back of the garden, which was smaller than the others. It was nice... More

The Yamagaso part of the Senkei hotel will provide a highly traditional Japanese experience. Each guest room is in its own separate building, and is decorated in a traditional way, with rice paper windows and tatami mats. They are also very well heated. There is also access to a private indoor onsen that means you do have to bathe at... More
