My daughter lives in Japan and I and another mother/daughter combo wanted to stay at a ryokan/onsen near Mt Fuji. Goro Kansuiro was the perfect place for us. Close to transportation, spacious rooms, fabulous food, very friendly and helpful staff, terrific views of fall colors from our room and wonderful baths...one in the room and others within a short walk....

Great Ryokan just close to Gora station. Both indoor and outdoor bath with natural hot springs. We were upgraded to a villa room with private baths and toilets. We opted for both dinner and breakfast and it was a great deal. If you have been to Ryokan before, this is a good experience for the Kaiseki cuisine. For those who...

If you are after traditional Japanese Ryokan lifestyle experience then this is it. Service, ambience and surrounding views are blissful. Seen reviews of others using western living values and styles to compare with futon mattresses and bean pillows, sitting on tatami mats instead of chairs, traditional kaiseki meals, onsen hot baths etc makes you feel how the upper class Japanese...

In its time, this was clearly a top destination as can be seen from the photos of visits from the emperor etc But it doesn't look like it has had much money spent on it for a while. To be fair, this was towards the end of our trip and we had probably had enough kaiseke meals and sleeping on...

Our group of five spent two nights here in a villa in September. It was definitely an interesting and insightful experience, but not all that comfortable. We slept on the floor on thin mattresses which were not too bad, but the rice-filled pillow was not so great so I used my sweater as a pillow instead. The bedding gets put...

I am glad we had the opportunity to stay at the ryokan, It certainly added to our Japanese experience, however it is not for everyone. The staff were lovely, although we didn't really know what they were talking about. The food is a challenge, and there is a lot of it, I did feel somewhat overwelmed by all of it...

Wow, what can I say.... This ryokan was the best accommodation that we had during our stay in Japan, from 8 different places. It is utterly charming. The service is exceptional. The ryokan is breathtakingly beautiful. Gora Kansuiro possesses a real Japanese elegance, it's very peaceful and relaxing. The onsen are lovely, especially the outside one. The food was plentiful,...

My wife and I stayed here a few nights for our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience. It was a bit jarring at first as there are certain procedures and etiquette to follow that we were unfamiliar with. But from the moment we set foot inside we felt like we were some sort of high class royalty from historical Japan....

Gora has always held a special place in our heart. I took my wife and my-then-three-year-old daughter for a visit a few years back. Everything was perfect...from the picnic in the Odakyu Romance Car , the scenic train criss-crossing foggy mountain to the exquisite stay at Gora Kadan. So when my parents wanted a family trip, I suggested a stay...

The website says 3 minutes from the train station. OK fine. But directions? Sign? Nothing. It was by pure luck through the kindness of two Hyatt Regency staff who saw us floundering around and gave us a ride in their van to the place. This place is difficult to find...directions from the train station - Left turn as you exit...
