The hotel is dirty, it stinks of humidity and rot, the walls are stained and it is terrible value for money. The onsen is worn and also looks dirty. We brought our seven month old baby, and had to pay 30% of the price for her. We brought our own cot and food, and she is too small for onsen,... More

I can't recommend this hotel. For extremely high cost, the very usual service. First of all, we booked a room with bathroom, but we get a room without bathroom. Room was old enough, looks threadbare. We slept very bad because of very noisy refrigerator in the room. The onsen is small and there are so many Chinese and they made... More

We took the train from Tokyo. The trip there was a fun adventure in itself. First the local mountain train with its switchbacks, then the cable car. We walked up the hill on the wrong side of the cable car tracks first so we were happy to get to our room. The room was not fancy but authentic with its... More

Kiritani Hakoneso is located a little up the mountain from Gora, but easily accessible by the cable-railway running from Gora Station, which connects to the ropeway a bit further up the mountain. Having gotten on the wrong train from Tokyo, we arrived a bit later than the latest check-in time, and fretted for our dinner. However, the personal at Kiritani... More

We were planning trip to Japan for 10 days and were debating whether to stay in Ryokan for a day. M glad we took this decision and stayed at Kiritani for a day. We are Indians and thought we wud have difficulty in conversing with the staff there. . But luckily we met Mr.Odawa and another lady there who understood... More

We bought this stay in a packaged online deal. The price is a little on the high side but the overall experience is superb. I've always have shoulder pain. The Onsen definitely fixed me up. It was so comfortable... I was totally recharged after every Onsen. Sometimes me and my wife would dip in the private Onsen. The open-air Onsen... More

Location - It was a bit confused to get here. Suggest to print a local map for the direction to the hotel from Koenkami Station. The area is very safe, residential area that you can walk around with their yukata, making you feel a local and tourist at the same time. It took us about 2.5 hrs from Yokohama station.... More

Downtown Tokyo price for poor accommodation. The Ryokan was hard to find and the staff seems confused by our arrival. The room and corridors smelt musty/smokey and very, very run down. Dinner was ok but the racket from the upper floors and the train make sleep difficult. The private onsen was another 3000 yen and you have to walk down... More

We've chosen this Ryokan for its good price-value-balance compared to other hotels in Hakone and for the good location. The main building we stayed in was a bit run-down but ok. The annex seemed more modern. The food was really excellent (breakfast and dinner). The room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't have a nice view though. The private... More
