Located at the top of the hill, it is quite a hike from the train station (~20 min). However, it is worth the hike as you take in the fresh mountain air, explore the traditional buildings, and get lost in the flowing rapids and lush trees. They do have a a shuttle service at a halfway point so you don't... More

The bad: The hotel is old and smells like cigarettes. The rooms are small and you have to set up your own futons at night. Also, the front desk area is a bit odd where they sell a ton of merchandise in the lobby including cookies, toys, books, and bath/personal products. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in... More

Hokone is one of the nearest hot spring zone from Tokyo, less than two hours from central of Tokyo. We took Romance Car Train to go there and only a 5min free bus ride from the station to the hotel. We tried both private family bath and real outside hot spring. My 6 years old daughter did not enjoy family... More

We stayed just one night at this hotel set in a beautiful mountain setting as part of our Japanese tour. I would love to spend a few days and relax here one day. We arrived very tired after a long bus trip and sightseeing and had a lovely warm welcome from the hotel staff. Our rooms were comfortable with tea/coffee... More

A great hotel once you find it....take shuttle from Hakone-Yumoto for Y100 and then a short bus trip up into the hills to Okada hotel and then you go through the main building to the back building. Great room and very big with a sitting area and bigger bathroom than the norm. Wi fi is only in the foyer but... More

We stayed in a twin Japanese room which was clean and spacious with plenty of bedding and tea making facilities. We were provided with traditional kimonos and jackets and loved the outside onsen which had several different pools. We very much enjoyed our Japanese set meal which included a huge quantity of food of excellent quality and beautifully presented. Breakfast... More

No frill no thrill tourist class hotel. It's behind the bigger and newer Okada Hotel. Size of room is ok. We booked the Western style twin sharing plan with breakfast and dinner. It has on suite bathroom with bath tub. Our room was on the third floor which is linked to the onsen building by a bridge. Extremely convenient for... More

Room was quite big (japanese twin room). You have a tatami-area and also two beds so you can choose to sleep in a futon or in a conventional bed. Room was clean, and calm. We also had dinner and breakfast included. We went from Europe, so breakfast was completely different for us: fried sardine, boiled eggs, algae, rice.... For dinner... More

Hard to find worthy place to stay in Hakone area. And Hakonenomori is a rare gem. It is a pention house actually run by the 5 star hotel near it, Okada hotel. You can experience a ryokan style accomodation, amazing dinner and breakfast provided. An unforgettable dining experience. The food is totally a homemade and traditional one. Trust me. You... More
