Located 1 min. walk from the Gora station, this hotel is a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The hotel starts with a welcome drink at the bar. And the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bar is equipped with a foot bath which was soothing and warm and they offer a good selection of beverage...

My husband and I arrived a bit early and our room was ready so we were able to check in, however the bar wasn't open yet so we went off to visit the Hakone Open Air Museum and came back later for our foot soak and welcome drink. I had a glass of Moet champagne and hubby had a glass...

From the moment you check-in here with your feet in a hot spa, you can feel yourself relaxing. You are supplied with a selection of yukata to wear and different flip/flops or slippers for different areas. So nice to go to breakfast though in comfortable gowns. We booked into a twin room with stone bath which was spacious and lovely....

It's tough to do all you'd like in this area with a single night in the area, so basing ourselves in Gora for 2 nights (Tensui is 50 metres from Gora station) allowed us the time to cover off a leisurely 2-3 hours' meander around the Open Air Museum (after catching a Shinjuku/Tokyo to Hakone train), and the 6pm dinner...

I was very upset when I checked in because they told me they can't accommodate one person and that I had to pay for two. Later I thought about it and that's just how hotels work. You pay for two guests even if only one stays. I emailed my dinner reservation ahead of time, but they didn't get it and...

When we entered the reception the first thing we saw was a bright yellow JCB . They work Monday thru Saturday 7-6! It's due to continue until December but then the view will be obliterated by the new building. The private onsen was mouldy & stained. We were disappointed. The AC is incredibly noisy in the bedroom so I switched...

We stayed here as a part of our trip of a life time to Japan and totally regret it. I will statr by saying first impressions are good. The feet in warm water as you enjoy a drink was interesting, annoying, but interesting. The ceremony of secretly removing your shoues and replacing them with slippers was a nice touch, and...

We enjoyed our stay at Gora Tensui, there was a choice of onsen and spacious en suite in our room, we missed dining at the restaurant because we didn't pre book, however the staff recommended a fantastic tofu restaurant close by, great recommendation! The room was traditional, spacious and clean. Staff were very helpful with parking, coming outside to show...

We did not realize how big an area Hakone actually was until arriving in the area. It took us two trains to arrive in Gora but I am glad we did as it was a fantastic base for seeing the area. Most of the sights were in easy distance through the public transport systems near the hotel. Hakone is fairly...

The hotel's main selling point of the warm foot-bath along the bar is, frankly, just annoying. If you want to have a drink you not only have to hope to find a passing member of staff (who will serve you a massively overpriced short measure) you also have to take your shoes and socks off and then when you are...
