My mom and I stayed here for one night in mid-December, and one night wasn't enough!! What a beautiful location and our Western-style room was facing the lake and had a private outdoor bath. The room was huge, beautifully furnished and you can tell that everything is sparkling new. I'm super glad we stayed here and highly recommend this hotel for any visitor to Hakone. Logistically it's very easy to get to, a quick 5 minutes walk across the street to the Hakone Ropeway, Cruise and Bus terminal. We caught a bus there easily after check out and eventually traveled to Kawaguchiko. I also like how the hotel made improvements after reading previous customer feedback. Check out time is now at 11:00 AM instead of 10:00 AM, which was very appreciated. I felt that every staff member was super nice, from the lobby staff to the restaurant staff. Breakfast and dinner were both enjoyable, and I personally like the buffet because it allows you to have more choices. The public baths were also very nice and spacious. Looking at previous reviews, the hotel has made big improvements in the last few months, so don't hesitate to stay here!

Overall, the hotel is good, but you can't expect a good view like hotels in Kawaguchiko.

First, the location of the hotel is convenient. You can walk from the Tōgendai Station, which only takes 10 minutes. Moreover, you can see the ship come and leaves, so it is very easy for you to take your time and take the ship you want.

However, the room is large, but you can only see the lake, not Mount Fuji, which means the view is just so-so.

The dinner and Breakfast are Buffet style, which is very interesting for a hotel like this. However, no worries about the quality of the food. They are very delicious. Each food dish is small, but be careful not to take so much. It is very easy for you to eat a lot.

The design of the Onsen is perfect, as you will not be worried about getting cold when transferring from the indoor onsen to the outdoors. If you stay during Winter, you can see many stars using the outdoor onsen, which is impressive. However, be careful as the temperature of the onsen is high. You might not be able to stay in for so long.

Also, you will notice the design in front of the lobby, as many people are taking photos there. You can ask hotel staff to help you take photos.

If you want to try hotels near Hakone lake, I recommend this hotel. If you want to stay in a hotel which can see Mount Fuji, you might need to find another one.

Thank you for staying at Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori. Thank you for your detailed review of your experience. You can't see Mt.Fuji from the hotel, but Lake Ashi, which you can see from the spacious lobby, is also charming. As you said, it is a very convenient location for everyone to use as a base for sightseeing because it is close to the pirate ship and ropeway platform. When you come to Japan again, please come to Hanaori. We look forward to welcoming you again.

This is a wonderful relaxing place to stay. After a few hectic days of sightseeing, we had this place booked to wind down and we were not disappointed.
We had pre booked the hotel shuttle bus and was picked up from the train station and taken to hotel. The breakfast and dinner are buffet style and there is plenty of western food for you to enjoy both meals.
The Onsen is quite large and there is sauna room there as well it is segregated for men and women. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location wise you are about 10-minute walk from The Hakone Ropeway and Pirate Ship
Overall, we had a wonderful stay

Amazing hotel - highlight of my Japan trip. Amazing views from reception and room, we had second floor lake view worth paying for a lake view. We booked a hotel transfer which was from Odawara station (look for the Orix hotel group symbol on a silver bus from the west exit near the bronze statues!) Transfer is 1 hour. We arrived early and had lunch near the hotel in a great restaurant overlooking the lake (its tables are on the upper floor can’t remember the name but it’s popular and obvious when you walk down to the lake). The cable car and boat are 5 mins walk from the hotel and are both good - the active volcano at the top of the cable car was a surprise for us! The public onsen baths are so lovely. They provide beautiful yukata to dress in if you choose (you can wear it to the onsen and to dinner). Dinner and breakfast buffets are brilliant such nice food both Japanese and western and we had a mix of both. Loved this hotel one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. Will have to go back as sadly didn’t get a glimpse of Mount Fuji this time.

Our second stay at this hotel, this time with 3 Adults (including a 12 year old) and 3 kids (6,8 and 10) for 3nights. Booked two rooms, one with the in-room onsen. That room was very spacious and honestly could easily have accommodated all 6 of us comfortably.

Hotel is a short walk to Togendai station, very accessible to the ropeway and pirate ship. Toiletries and amenities are provided and a must try are the prawn crackers they place at the minibar. Really good and can be purchased at the lobby shop.

Buffet breakfast and dinner is provided. During our first stay in 2018, we struggled a bit with the food selection as we felt that they cater more to the locals. Surprisingly, this time we truly enjoyed our meals and our kids look forward to their breakfasts and dinners and went for extra helpings! The restaurant overlooks Lake Ashi and the view in the day is magnificent.

This is a beautiful hotel in an equally beautiful location. This was part of our tour and we stayed for only one night. It was completely worth the long windy road trip. There were a lot of people here as couples and as young families. This is definitely more for couples as it is a very romantic setting. The rooms include buffet dinner and breakfast. The room for us was a Mountain View but it really overlooked the road and partial parking lot. The porch had screens for the private onsen tub on the porch. The room overall was very comfortable with a very nice shower room. The dinner was very good. You had to order some of the dishes but that was part of the experience. The food was very good to excellent depending on the dish. Since this was right at Christmas, the deserts were holiday themed. Dinner had a time limit which is fine cause you would not want to eat too much. The breakfast was also very good. For certain a splurge worthy hotel.

Do not stay at this hotel! I paid $450 a night for 2 nights and it has been a terrible experience. I am leaving in the morning.. cant wait. The description is misleading as there is no real "onsen." they have simply a large bath area with doors that open but there is no view of the lake and it is not associated with hot springs whatsoever! Better to go to a spa at home. NO ONE spoke english here. This hotel does not cater to foreigners AT ALL. My room was facing a parking lot. Only one side of the hotel faces the lake. I am extremely disappointed as I came for the hot springs. The only way to experience the springs is to stay in a hotel in the park area or go to a public hot springs (which is crowded and unappealing.) Food is mediocre at best. Also, it seems locals pay much less than foreigners! Save your money! If you cant get into one of the elite hotels with true hot springs experience, skip Hakone! Not worth it. I loved Tokyo and Kyoto; hated this place!

Thank you for staying at our hotel. It is truly a regretful situation that our onsen hot spring and our dish selection don’t meet with your expectation. As for the room, we have a view guaranteed plan (limited to our official website), needless to say- prepared on the lake side room. We strongly recommend this plan for who wish to get the best view to the lake. Thank you for your precious feedback. Sincerely, Hotel Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori

This hotel thought of everything. We could easily communicate in English with the front desk, and whoever answered the phone. I loved the option of utilizing yukata’s all over the premises. The Buffet breakfast and dinner were fabulous. There were many options for every tastebud. The best fish that I had in Japan was from the Buffet dinner, the “baked dish”. The Onsen experience was fabulous and immaculate. The massage was also fantastic. The grounds were lovely and the beverages in the lobby were most appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel/experience.

Beautiful ryokan style hotel but very modern with lovely views of the lake, spa style onsen, and a buffet style restaurant with a huge variety of food choices. We booked a room with a private hot springs tub on the lanai: very relaxing. If you are brave enough for the traditional no-clothes hot springs (separated by gender), it was very scenic, with steam rising from vents in the surrounding garden. Most of the staff has some English, but there are occasional communication glitches. Located near the ropeway and the pirate ship port on the Hakone loop, it does take a bit to get there from the train station. We only stayed one night, so opted to carry stuff in a backpack and use the Hakone Free Pass to work our way around. We were early and our room wasn't ready, so we dropped off the backpacks and made our way around to other sights. If you do that, just be sure to leave time to get back; the ropeway and other transports stop shortly before 5 pm.

This place was just what we needed after trekking around cities for a week.Beautiful position overlooking the lake and really chilled laidback vibe. Loved the fact you could spend all day in your yukata , even at dinner. We stayed in lakeside room with private bath on the balcony. This is worth splashing out for , lovely to sit and soak in the water. Room huge by Japanese standards and all immaculately clean and well designed. We stayed half board and dinner was amazing - huge choice of Japanese food and some Western options also. Yes it was busy as Sakura season but never felt like mass tourism. Literally spent a day just reading looking out over the lake. You can message hotel to arrange free shuttle bus which is a very scenic hour bus ride from Odawara station.

You are paying for the use of their onsen and the spa facilities around it, a huge buffet for dinner and breakfast, a fairly modern but Japanese style room, and the location with a view over the lake. Yes, it is pricey. We had a great time but I can’t tell you if it’s worth it to you. We also had a private onsen tub on out lanai that I loved.

Trip Advisor will not let me type it all together for some reason. It starts with info-ashinoko. If you go to the hotel website, put it in English, and look at the bottom of the page, there is an email address. Also, I think I received an email from them when I booked and I responded to that?
