Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Here located on a steep incline. If you come here by the public transportation, you have to walk through a mild difficult path. However, it does worth of it! The hotel is antique and full of the flavor of Tochigi. The waiters are not good at English but they have perfect service attitude to bright your stay. Everything is new and good designed. The dinner and the breakfast are both tasty. Free and selected drinks, popsicles, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks are under serving all day long. Besides, they also prepare Ramen at night. Definitely will come back in the other day!

We had a room for 4. 2 sleeping/bedroom areas with 2 beds each and a living room. With an onsen outside.
Very helpful and attentive staff.
Good Japanese dinner and breakfast.
The onsen is very nice with an outdoor pool. Catering section on the way out with the possibility of having a drink.

I stayed there on January 5th, the same as last year. The room was on a lower floor as usual. On the lower floors, you can see the moon, stars, and morning sun through the trees in the garden with their leaves fallen. On the higher floors, you can enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains without being obstructed by trees. I have never stayed on the 4th floor or higher, but I think the view from the lower floors in winter is lonely and refreshing, and has a certain charm. If my first stay had been in a room facing the mountains that I saw on YouTube, I don't think I would have come again. After spring, the atmosphere is like a hot spring inn in the forest among the leaves, and it has a different feel, but I like winter. This time, I changed my Aiphone to a new model, and I was able to take good pictures of the garden and stars at night. Overall, it was as wonderful as ever and I was satisfied. If I had to mention one thing that bothered me, I always take pictures of the food, but the tea and sweets at the reception were the same as last year (of course I was satisfied). I requested the size of the room wear in advance and they prepared it for me, but my tanzen was too small for me, and last year I didn't have anything to wear over my vest-like (I don't know what to call it) room wear (maybe because I looked like a farmer?), and last year I bought a pink-ish room wear in the largest size at the shop, but the room wear prepared in the room was the same white-gray? (It was the same color last year, so it may be the same color even if both men and women make a reservation. Or maybe there are not enough of each size?) It was the same when I stayed at another hotel in Hakone Yumoto at the end of the year, but I felt that the dinner dishes were smaller and less in quantity than last year. It was a bit annoying when I compared it to the photos from last year's stay. It seemed like the room rate had gone up from last year, and I was bothered by the smaller dishes. The good thing was that the staff at each place were as helpful as ever. There were also a lot of non-alcoholic drinks next to the elevator, which was nice. There were some negative reviews on social media beforehand, and it's true that even though there were customers, some staff members were whispering to each other about their dissatisfaction with their colleagues, and the number of staff members at the dining area seemed to be limited, so they didn't come right away even when I pressed the call bell, but I could tolerate it. I have never had the same experience as those on social media. I would like to continue using it in the future. Finally, I bought indoor clothing here last year, but I can't wear it at other Kyoritsu Resort hotels because I would think I "stole" it, but I used it at other hotels and it was popular with foreign tourists. I always wear it when I stay at other hot spring inns. If possible, I would like them to always have various sizes and colors available. Next time I stay here, I would like to buy some colors as souvenirs from overseas.

Our first experience of staying in a ryokan. It certainly wasn’t what we expected and seemed very contrived. Poor customer service. Little concession to English - if they want international tourists then they need to try harder! Signage was all in Japanese so it was impossible to work out the separate male and female onsen. The food was generally not to our liking and the waiter gave very little explanation of how to cook the dishes. Breakfast was awful and we opted to leave without breakfast on our last day.
The one plus is the location in Gora. Close to the railway station, funicular (leading to the cable car) and local buses. Hakone not to be missed, just stay somewhere else

The room was spacious, and I was able to relax in the open-air bath attached to the room.
The evening meal was also served by a young waiter who was very hard-working and well-prepared.
I tried the Western-style breakfast, but it was very satisfying in terms of content and volume.

However, it was disappointing that the drink corners on each floor only had one type of alcohol, Horoyoi. Previously, they had beer, highballs, sake, and chuhai, so it seemed like the service had gone down. I asked the staff, and they explained that they change the types depending on the season, but since I have likes and dislikes, I couldn't accept that, so I just thought it was a step down in service. I was looking forward to enjoying a drink in my room, so it was very disappointing.
