We are part of TOTO Japan Indonesia tour and had a late night check-in from Narita.

Upon arrival we are greeted and helped by the front staff with all Japanese hospitality. Our room are located on the first floor which is the same level as the onsen. All of the rooms are a bit distant away from the main lobby, therefore you'll need a bit of walking in between areas.

Our room are Ryoken style with tatami floor mattresses which is quite comfortable. In room heating are quite warm however the bathroom and showers are not, no heating so during winter will be quite chilly. Wifi internet is quite bad, very slow and drops alot.

Our room have an astonishing views towards the lake and mountains, and surrounded by golf course to the side of the hotel.

Breakfast and dinner are all served with Japanese style breakfast, very yummy and free coffee too. Dining staff are very well mannered and diligently taught our daughter the tastiest way to eat some of the traditional meal.

We stayed for 2 nights and so We begin our Japan tour in the best way a Japanese accomodation & hospitality can offer.

Thank you & definitely recommended accomodation...

If you want a taste of a Japanese hotel with golf thrown in, this would be it.
Comfortable rooms. Mostly Tatami beds although there are some rooms with 'western' beds if you specify.
All meals are set and are all Japanese.
It is a little distant from the nearest town, where restaurants were closing by 7.30 so if you don't want to eat in the hotel, you need to plan.
But take the lake cruise to the Ropeway and you can get a stunning view of Mount
Very good Hot Spring Bath in the hotel so all in all an interesting stay.

Only stayed one night, which was a pity.
Wonderful Japanese dinner and breakfast.
Sleeping on comfortable mats was an experience to be savoured.
Best of all is the onsen with nice hot bath indoors and slightly cooler one outside.
Great staff too.

Stayed here on tour for that authentic traditional Japanese experience. Unfortunately a rather sleepless night on the floor on a futon.

Staff are friendly and helpful surroundings are exceptional just not too sure whether I would like to sleep the same again. Would be much more appreciated if we had a western style bed.

Part of the experience...

Thank you very much for visiting Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel the other day. Once again, we would like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to rate us. In Japanese culture, futons are only used when sleeping, so they are stored away during the day. This is wisdom for making effective use of limited space. We apologize for not having a comfortable stay due to the mismatched futon. We will continue to strive to provide a comfortable stay for our customers. We look forward to seeing you again. We stayed two nights in this onsen hotel. It was a fantastic experience. We drove down to the hotel. It’s not difficult to find the hotel if you follow the GPS, despite its a bit far from other crowded area. Dinner and breakfast were superb. Sake was nice as well. Male and female onsen won’t swap as I guess the onsen is literally the same. Everything is nicely maintained in the hotel. It’s a fantastic getaway. The hotel is next to golf course so the view of the hotel rooms are the green. As a golfer I prefer natural view rather than trimmed golf course but anyway it’s very refreshing to see the view when blinders off. Once again, it’s a very nice onsen hotel and I would definitely visit again in the future.

Where to begin... We're promised lots but were delivered very little.
Couldn't use onsen as promised due to tattoos even though travel agent checked twice to make sure,
We're told we could be collected from railway station as long as we rang to arrange but not available as we arrived after 2pm,
We're told we could see Mt Fuji from our room but not possible we faced the wrong way and couldn't see Fuji until we went on rope way
We're told we would have a balcony but no rooms have balcony,
We're told we would have Christmas dinner served to us in our room but instead had to book a table in the dining area,
Dirty rooms when we arrived,
Staff are really nice though and dinner was great. If you like looking at a golf course then this may be for you....not for us on our honeymoon though.

It was a nice way to end a day of touring Mt Fuji by relaxing in a traditional onsen in Hakone. It was a must to change in a yukata provided by the hotel. Kaiseki dinner was served. After dinner we dipped in the onsen for a few minutes before heading back to our rooms that was already transformed into a bedroom. Futon beds were prepared making our trip a memorable one.

We stayed here as it is included by the travel agency in our itinerary. Prior to going here, I was skeptical because I prefer to stay at new and modern hotels. The thought of sleeping on the floor did not appeal to me. I imagined the bed would be thin and hard and I would get back ache in the morning. But the agency wanted us to experience the traditional Japanese style of living so it became part of the tour package. I'm glad they included this and am delighted with the experience.

The room is really big. We were 3 in a room and it was still so spacious. The room is heated and when we entered the room, we found it too hot for our liking so we opened the window to let the cold air in. We left it like that the whole night and temperature was perfect.

I love the bed on the floor and the heated blanket. I don't know if it is battery operated or something but it provided the right amount of warmth throughout the night and I was surprised that I had a really good night's sleep despite sleeping on the floor because the bed is soft and comfy.

I wasn't impressed with the bathroom but what is important is that it is clean.

Yukatas (casual kimono) are provided. It was too big for us though. Maybe they can change it to a smaller size if we asked but since we were in a hurry to eat dinner, we just wore whatever size is in the closet. It was so nice to see all our group wearing yukatas for dinner and we took a group photo afterwards.

We arrived at night and left after breakfast. 1 night stay. There's really not much to do here unless you play golf. I did not try the Onsen. Some people from our group tried it though.

When the big tour buses leave in the morning, the front desk staff would run outside and wave goodbye to the tourists. It was raining that morning but they'd still run outside carrying umbrellas to bid us farewell. All in all a really nice and unique experience for us. This is my first stay in a ryokan and the next time I go back to Japan, I would love to stay at a ryokan again.

The Bathtub is small but the quality of the hot spring is wonderful. (Milky Onsen) When the sky is clear you can observe beautiful stars. The room is a japanese style room with tatami. The quality of the room is average and you shouldn't inspect every corner of the room because it's obvious that the building is old. However the room has a large window and a view towards the mountains and Sagami bay, so if you're lucky with the weather you will have a beautiful view out of your window. No bed of course, a set of futon will be prepared while you are having the dinner.
We have booked a night with a dinner and a breakfast. Both meals were served in traditional Japanese style. (Kaiseki) It was beautifully decorated and delicately cooked. However the quantity of the meal is probably designed for the slender little Japanese people and not for anyone larger than that so if you are always-hungry person, consider to pack your emergency food in your luggage just in case.
If you are not a fan of Japanese food, this is not your hotel, you should better stay away.
By the way all decorations (flower arrangements, artificial flowers and traditional handcrafts which you find at every corner of the hotel) are done by a talented Okami-san. It's really worth taking a glance at it! All staff are very friendly and helpful.

Hi! According to the Japanese official website, there is a free shuttle bus service available from Odawara Station West Exit to the hotel everyday at 2pm, but you need to reserve a seat in that shuttle until the day before at 3pm. To reserve, you need to call the hotel at 0460-83-5111. When you leave the hotel you can also reserve a seat on a free shuttle bus that will take you either to the nearest bus stop or Odawara Station. If you're not taking the shuttle bus from Odawara Station, you may take a taxi from Hakone Yumoto Station (about 25 minutes, around ¥5,000) or take a Izu Hakone bus and get off at Ashi no yu bus stop. But if you are afraid of getting lost I do not recommend taking the bus. The reason is that when I went there, even though we were 3 girls used to life in Japan and fluent in Japanese, we missed the bus stop as it was in the middle of nowhere and announced very briefly on the bus. We eventually found Ashi no yu bus stop but we were not too sure where to go (there's a signal but it really looks like there's nothing around there) so we called the hotel and they sent a shuttle to come take us. On the website they say you can walk to the hotel from the bus stop, but it seemed quite a long walk to us, so we were glad we had called to request a shuttle bus. I hope it helps answer your question. Have a very nice trip!
