For info the date I went is wrong. I actually went in August 2016 but was recently prompted by TripAdvisor to review the place. It was really great, especially since we'd just come from a Ryokan in Yamanaka that had been not so nice. The staff were really friendly even though

We booked a room for 5 adults and a child and were given a suite. The suite has an en suite toilet, plus a private bathroom (we were given the key) right opposite our suite which has a toilet, shower and hot tub. This was very convenient as some of us did not use the onsen and

Excellent traditional ryokan in Hakone. Very peaceful and serene with great views of Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji (if it’s not hidden by the clouds). Service was attentive and rooms were quite spacious for Japan. Book one with it’s own onsen (hot spring) if possible. Breakfast and

Excellent location on the lake, had a good view of Mt Fuji one day. All the staff are very helpful and courteous. Our credit goes to the chef who catered for the 5 vegetarians,a variety of 7 course Japanese cuisine over 2 days. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

May I know what kind of water is for the bath tub inside the room? Is it tap water or spring water? Tq

The bullet train will take you to Odawara station (make sure you pick the one that actually stops at Odawara, as there are trains that skip this station and go directly to Kyoto). From the station, you can arrange with the Ryokan beforehand to transport you with their shuttle by letting them know when you'll be arriving, or you can take public bus that has a stop right in front of the Ryuguden. Hope this helps.
