Hakone Highlands was calm and serene hotel that had beautiful lawn and large sit out areas. Hotel Onsen was a good experience. Friendly staff that prepared veg meals for us and took care for other requirements.

We were literally homeless , caught off guard by Japan's Golden Week!! Did not know about it which was fool hardy . Highland was the only hotel available as it charged a hefty price for that week . Thankfully the hotel was elegant , grounds allowed hours of exploring and we enjoyed our French dinner very much . Watch out... More

Stayed here to ascend Mount Fuji, over which the Highland Resort has a fine view (it was a little cloudy during our time there so we didn't get the full benefit). Apart from being clean and acceptable accommodation, it is fairly soul-less. There are a couple of dining options within the hotel and a few close nearby. The price reflects... More

We stayed one night there after a full day of sightseeing at the Hakone area with our 2 days Odakyu Hakone pass. The hotel is very nice and quiet in a bit remote location. The hotel only has 1 French restaurant and must need advance reservation, and close at 2030 pm. This does not really appealing to visitors as most... More

Spent 2 nights at this property. They only have one restaurant on site which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is French flavored. Dinner is a bit pricey, but you will not regret having one of their set menus. Price from about $65.00 - 90.00 per person. Service is excellent, food presentation is outstanding, and food is fabulous!... More

This has become our favorite western style hotel in Hakone. We live in Western Tokyo and Hakone is about two hours from our home and an hour or so from the coastal city of Numazu, which is where my in-laws live. We like to stop there about once a year with our two canine companions, Jack and Clara, as there... More

The garden is really big. The room is big and clean. Other than the hotspring you have nothing to do. The breakfast is small but expensive. The staff are polite and helpful but can speak limited english.

Stayed here with colleagues during November 2013, hotel well presented and smart for Japanese standards. Guest room very pleasant with a comfy bed and decent mini bar. On site restaurant is French and expensive, nice if you're there on a date I guess but romantic candles not so suited to business discussions. We took a 20 minute walk into town... More

Cold and uninviting building on the outside. The lobby shocks one with discolored spotty carpets. Prices are a rip-off – ordered a sandwich and a very small glass of OJ in the lobby bar and was charged over 2,000 yen – more than the price of a full breakfast.
