It was a quite stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone. The hotel is located in the midrange of the Hakone hills and you can take the shuttle from Odawara station. The hotel itself is well maintained and has east and west wings connected by the living room on floor down from the reception level. There are 4 floors of guestrooms and the room is quite spacious with a balcony where you can enjoy some tea or sake there. And of course, you are here for the onsen experience and Hyatt Regency Hakone does a wonderful job providing you just that experience. I loved the onsen experience. It would be better if there is open-air onsen but you really could not ask for more. At the end of the day, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone but it really takes some efforts to walk from Gora station back to the hotel.

Staff treated family and I like royalty, I been to over 30 countries, even Abu Dhabi, but none come close to Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa. Best breakfast ever! Room was spotless and 4th floor with a view on superb private balcony. Japanese outdo themselves on separate large bathrooms and heated toilets'. Japanese are there to please so Customs and curtsies, and politeness are second nature. Location was tops too from surrounding areas to visit. Spas onsen leave ones skin soft the next day or two from one days visit! Prefect bed meant prefect sleep!

We stayed as a family of 3 on January 5 for my mother’s birthday. We were warmly welcomed and on check in were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a suite room on level 2 with views of Mt Fuji in distance after originally booking a twin deluxe room. We all stayed in one room which was very large - plenty of room with large bathroom and bed with enclosed balcony/eating area with views of surrounds which beautiful as sunset and sunrise.
We went to the lounge at around 5pm and were seated right next to the piano, unfortunately no piano that night although I was tempted to play it! We had drinks (apparently 4-7 happy hour) and dinner (burger, salad, club sandwich) at the lounge area as dinner and afterwards my wife decided to go to the onsen. They thoroughly enjoyed the onsen and relaxed whilst we had a few more drinks. Had an early night after a long day and woke up to have breakfast next to the lounge area. The selection whilst not wide, was of the highest quality and there was also freshly squeezed juice.
After breakfast we checked out and the shuttle bus took us to the ropeway for our next leg of our adventure. Overall we had a great stay at the hotel, and I would not hesitate to return one day if staying in Hakone. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so wonderful and we look forward to returning one day!

If you want a true get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, this is the right place to stay. Customer service was superb from my first email inquiry to the complimentary shuttle pick up from Odawara station to check-in and check-out, everything was done with care and courtesy. The rooms are large and luxurious and have great views of the mountains. The bathrooms were equally luxurious and clean. The rooms are stocked with all the necessary amenities including a very comfortable “yukata” or traditional Japanese kimono and slippers/clogs that you can wear inside the hotel. The onsen is very relaxing and therapeutic. I tried lunch and breakfast at the restaurant and the food and selection are excellent. I also had the sushi dinner which was superb. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend!

We spent 2 wonderful nights here after a few days in Tokyo. We booked through Virtuoso as they offered a few good VIP perks at the time of booking and our representative was very helpful with arranging meals and transfers. From arrival at Odawara station, we took the complementary shuttle bus (please book in advance!) and the check in process was very smooth. This was by far the best hospitality we had experienced during our stay. The staff were very friendly and professional, and went out of their way to help. The room (deluxe with Mountain View) was amazing with a great view, plenty of storage space (contrast to other hotels we stayed in), large bathroom, and a Nespresso machine! We would recommend going for the free flow drinks which are served in the living room from 4.30pm! The food at the Sushi restaurant was pricy but excellent quality, and the living room menu had some good options for a quick bite which was great when we arrived. The breakfast was great quality with western options available too! The spa is great - it was our first onsen experience, and we also went for the fruittherapy massage which was very relaxing. We loved our stay and the only regret was staying for only 2 nights!

The room was incredibly clean. My wife is immunocompromised, so we wipe every hotel room down with disinfectant wipes, and we almost always find dust. There was no dust. We do not take advantage of housekeeping services, as we do not want anyone in the room, because we would just have to wipe everything down again. The housekeepers we met in the hallway were all friendly, and when we did need an amenity, they would bring it to our room almost instantly, they were always pleasant. What a pleasure!
We ordered room service every day, twice a day. Mr. Suzuki and Kamiko were kind enough to allow our globalist breakfast benefit to be room service. Wow what a breakfast! It was a wonderful feast every morning. Kamiko had met with us when we arrived to discuss allergies, as my wife has a number of food allergies that are not on allergy menus. Every time we ordered and the kitchen staff had any concerns, they would call us back and inform us that there might be a problem. We have never had this incredible level of service from any hotel, it is one of the best run hotels we have ever stayed at! The folks delivering the room service we re so gracious and kind we really enjoyed their coming up and talking to them on the phone. They even helped me with learning Japanese.
The hotel offers a van service. My wife is currently in a wheelchair and could not get into the van. Mr. Suzuki instructed his staff to take us in the hotel car, when we were going someplace the van went. Sometimes he even drove us himself. We really enjoyed talking to him and getting to know him. He took us to a garden about five minutes from the hotel. I had forgotten my mask which my wife and I always wear. I asked if he had a spare and he did not, they did not have or sell them at the gardens. We decided to proceed and then five minutes later Mr. Suzuki came back with masks. We were beside ourselves, how generous and caring he was about his guests.
This was a fourteen day stay, some of our favorite dinner items were Sushi (of course) Japanese Beef Curry, Hot Pot with Udon Noodles, and an off menu Tempura that they provided for us. The french onion soup was excellent as well.

The Hyatt is well situated in Hakone, the hotel is set in a beautiful nature space and comprises two buildings, which are interconnected by a walkway. The room is spacious and provides lots of space even with an extra bed placed in the room. There is a nice sofa, a large flatscreen and an indoor balcony with tea and coffee facilities. In the room, there are Yukatas and traditional Japanese outfits for the guests to wear in the room and around the Hotel. The hotel provides aluminium bottles of water that can be refilled in a water dispenser in the hallway. Parking facilities are available and come complimentary. The living room has a lovely chill and nature-inspired feeling with a big fireplace for you to relax. The hotel offers 3 different places for food, catering to Western and Japanese options. There is a hotel shuttle bus available for various destinations in Hakone, the Spa in the hotel provides Onsen for the hotel guests as well as a comprehensive menu of spa treatments. You feel welcomed and taken care of by the Hyatt team during your stay.

Space for improvement · The service around the fireplace and living room could be improved, the staff is nice, but very slow and disorganised in their service approach. The second thing that should be improved is catering for allergies! We had to get into an argument with multiple waiters and their manager as the cook could only provide a club sandwich, out of a sizable menu, for a person with a garlic allergy. This was very poor and is not acceptable for a hotel of this class. The F&B manager saved the day and took charge, but this was after a long debate and being told that the club sandwich was the only option by multiple staff members.

The room was not ready on arrival at 12:30 so the concierge recommended the cable car a short walk up the hill - excellent idea. Got back about 3 o’clock and checked in. Given room 431, which was a lovely big room on the fourth floor with a balcony and great views of the mountains. Two big twin beds, pushed together, desk, etc. Nicely decorated in neutral colours. Large enclosed balcony overlooking the mountains with a dining table and two chairs, a unit with a fridge and a kettle, small cups and saucers. Bathroom was large with a wet room bath and shower, separate toilet with its own washbasin. Fluffy towels and Yukatas.
Housekeeping very good.
Breakfast overlooking the garden was a comprehensive buffet with eggs cooked to order, crispy bacon etc.

Despite Hyatt Regency Hakone's masterful execution of design, service, and luxury, it does not offer the value compared to other similar ranked properties on this trip. This is the only property at rooms priced over $400 per night; only breakfast is included -not half board, and its location is isolated with no nearby stores or restos.
Tauck Tours had its group there. They occupied the Living Room for casual dinner, and I saw them again at breakfast. The 7:00 AM coffee bar was poorly executed. Anyway, breakfast started 30 min later. Our group ate in a "wine room," walls of wine.
The buffet breakfast was one of the best on this tour.
The room, #208, was not as large as I expected; however, enclosed balcony with views was generous in size. There was a deep tub which was perfect for soaking. I tried the onsen on two occasions for 15 min. Very relaxing with strong Jacuzzi jets. I didn't try the outdoor onsen.
I took advantage of the free shuttle to Goro Station. A flood of memories when I returned to the same onsen hotel after 5 years. Setsugetsuka Onsen Hotel looks so drab, dark, poorly maintained, and not inviting. I took a handful of free food items. I returned back in 15 minutes -- I had enough. Once again, the adage that one should not revisit old memories, for it may be totally different, applies here.

Comfortable, spacious hotel with impeccable service. A perfect place to unwind for a few days away from Tokyo. We had a suite room which was generously proportioned and combined every convenience with pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. We dined in our room and found the quality of food to be good. The in-house onsen was clean and uncrowded but a would benefit from a few extra facilities like an outside bath and sauna. The staff paid meticulous attention to anti-covid precautions. Recommended.
