this hotel be renovation on Aug 2017, the designer transform something more elaborate. The entrance gate, the garden, the room gave me feel comfortable and relax. The dinner course made by local foods, taste good . There are 2 type real hot springs, not big pool but enough. The breakfast needs to improve, as buffet is not many kinds of items. But totally, I like this hotel, the price suitable for hotel grade. I want give 4.5point to this hotel.

The hotel is nice and clean but it is out of the way. To get anywhere decent you have to catch the train. It is even a long walk to the local store. Even though we prepaid for our room they charged us hot spring tax when we left and we didn't even use it.

Thank you for your stay in lectore Hakone Gora. As you mention, it is not good access to the station and convenience store. However, we offer free shuttle bus service so we would like you to use this when you visit Hakone next time. About to hot spring tax, it is required by the law in Japan, and you are still charged when you use our facility even if you don’t take a bath. I apologise for lack of explanation. Thank you once again for the review and we look foward to welcome you back to our Hotel in the near future.

The hotel is a great location for a quiet stay within a short travelling distance from Tokyo. Hakone-gora is a really sleepy town but it is a great base for exploring Owakudani and Lake Ashi for incredible views of Mount Fuji.

The hotel rooms are really spacious and clean. I stayed in a small twin room, which was as big as a family room in Europe. The room had two beds which were 3/4 size and were the most comfortable beds I have found in a hotel for a while. The sofa area in the room was a great place to relax, though sadly the room I stayed in looked out over a wall.

The hotel has some great facilities including a public and private Onsen. I definitely recommend using at least one of these because the bath facilities in the room are extremely small and hard to use. The rooftop seating area was a great place to relax and enjoy being surrounded by nature, my favourite part was coming up to see the incredible stars in the pollution free skies. Yukata were available for hotel guests to use and I found them to be a great touch

The food in this hotel was really fresh and delicious Japanese dishes, with staff happily catering to my dietary needs.

I would return to stay in this hotel in future. If you want more information about this hotel or Kyoto, feel free to visit my blog.

The hotel should warn guests that they need to rent a car and that food will not be available. Public transport in the city is limited and as it is a steep mountain, walking with suitcases is unfeasible. We arrived in the afternoon and there was no dinner because it was necessary to book in advance, but we didn't know that there would be no food at the hotel nor that it would be impossible to go to the city. Going down to the city to eat without a car is impossible and they don't have a shuttle service (only in the morning and if you book). There is no food at the hotel, even if you pay extra. There is no room service.

It is a quiet resort and the staff knows basic English. They have a late check-in policy at 3pm and check out at 10am which I think is inflexible. However, they are happy for you to leave your luggage. It was hard to know how to get there as the website has limited English directory information. We have to figure out using GPS and for station staff at Odawara to explain and translate for us at the information counter. In addition, we were placed in a room beside an unsightly store room which is unusual to Japanese standards. Dinner at resort must be under reservation which we do not know. Thankfully, we went to a nearby restaurant which has amazing food and yakitori which make up for it! Take note for tourists, you must use their public bath to shower or booked a private onsen as they do not have a bathroom. There is also an onsen tax charged irregardless of you using the onsen.

Stayed here for one day while touring hakone. From gotemba premium outlet, there is a bus that stops directly outside the hotel. It's about 5 min walk from either the 3rd or 4th station of the cable car from gora station.

The price for two pax was about 10,000 yen and there was an additional charge of 150 yen for the use of the onsen. The onsen facility was pretty basic with two type of water to soak in. The rooms were pretty large and kept us warm in the cold winter. There's also a table tennis area for people to use for free. Not much choices of restaurants nearby though. Overall a good budget option when in hakone.

My expectations were high as I passed through the old-fashioned gate, but it looked like construction was underway and there was scaffolding all around the exterior wall, which was a bit of a letdown. The lobby was small, the building was complicated due to successive extensions, and there was no elevator. I took my shoes off at the entrance, carried them to my room myself, and spent the whole building in slippers.
The plan included breakfast and dinner, but I would say that I preferred the breakfast, which was rather simple.
The best part was the large public bath. I was able to enjoy two unique hot spring baths at the same time.
