This is a secluded Japanese building in Nikko. Wrapped in lush nature with a theme of "the hospitality of a garden with four seasons", Okunoin Hotel Tokugawa waits to greet everyone. Each room has its various charms such as the open-air spa room, the seasonal themed room, and the water themed villa. When shown to you room, hot water will be poured into a pot with flowering tea. Upon contact the splendid scent will expand to fill the room. At the rich "colors of the seasons" open-air spa, unwind your body and mind in the water of Nikko hot springs as you stretch out. Have the local cuisine of Nikko and seasonal ingredients for your meal. Hot things are served hot and cold things are served cold. All dishes are made with a desire for hospitality. The 4-season garden that changes colors and appearance together with the time. We hope you enjoy the easy flow of time here.

The Annex is only 7 rooms and books out pretty quickly so I would try and plan a few months in advance at least if traveling to Nikko. It’s the number 1 hotel on trip advisor for a reason. Greeted with your choice of alcoholic or non alcoholic welcome drink, the Japanese

I stayed there for a night, and had breakfast and dinner. I enjoyed my private open-air onsen bath in my room. The food was great. Both breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese meal. Staffs are kind too.

We stayed there for 3 nights end of October to catch the autumn colours. We booked the room with private bath at the balcony. A truly great ryokan with friendly service. Food was great (although we have tasted better in Nagano). The location is away from main road and temples,

My boyfriend and I love staying at ryokans during our trips to Japan. This trip we decided to explore Nikko and found out about this place via Tripadvisor. We reserved the Aqua Annex for 1 night. The staff at Okunoin were a pleasure to work with. We were picked up from the Nikko

Hi Chase, I did not buy the yukata from Okunoin, but typically ryokan inns have yukata on sale in their shop. I am not sure if you can specifically buy the ones they provide you during your stay, but you can always ask.

From the 7 rooms with the balcony where you can feel season, you can view the moonlight shed from above the mountains and the heavenly body full of stars. There is no private outdoor bath in the room. if you want to want to take a bath calmly and leisurely, anyway. We recommend to such people two rooms [MIZUHIKARI] (water light) and [MIZUOTO] (water sound). These rooms can be enjoyed by a couple or a family, which have a private open-air bath where you will feel a sense of transparency and openness. [ Information about private open-air bath ] Private open-air bath: 2 rooms ([MIZUHIKARI](water light) and [MIZUOTO] (water sound)) Bathing time:15:00 - 19:00 , 20:00 - 0:00 Natural water (GINRYU-SUI) which is gentle to babies and pregnant women. An additional charge is 45 minutes and one use is 2000 yen.

Is this too far to stay the night before a 5 pm flight out of Narita ( must be in Narita by 2 pm).
We flew out of Haneda on an interrnational flight that left at 3:55 the same day that we left Nikko (taking a train that left before 10 am). We had plenty of time. We found the app Hyperdia via helpful to plan our travels.

No, not every room has own hot spring bath. Breakfast and dinner will server in the hotel restaurant. They do have rooms with private onzen with higher room rate. Public onzen separate male and female, however they have private room for couple with extra cost. The room is spaciously big, you can ask the hotel for arrangement. The hotel will confirm with you the foods selection via email before your arrival. Hope this help.
