We admittedly got in late and left early for a long day in the Nikko temple complex so we did not have more time at this ryokan to enjoy it. The owner was gracious and showed us to our room and the separate bathrooms. The rooms have a nice authentic ryokan feel, which is what we were looking for. There... More

This is a fine place to spend one or two nights when visiting Nikko. It's clean and tidy. Room are japanese style with tatami and futon, AC on them. Free WiFi. Towels and pyjamas for rent. You can buy some microwave food. Yuji, the owner, takes you to a nearby onsen for free (entrance is ¥800 and you spend there... More

Nice relaxing futons in classic Japanese style. Complete with complementary ride to hot bath. Which cost 1000y. Great host! Complete kitchen and coffee and tea service so you can cook your own meals Great quiet location in Nikko. Beautiful. Yugi provided a ride to the train station as well.

We went to Nikko just at the end of the year, only for one night, maybe I will regret this because it is a really nice place. The host was the best English speaking Japanese that I met and he was very kind, he took us to the New Year’s ceremony and to the onsen. A really nice experience. In... More

The Narusawa Lodge is a great little place approximately 1,2km away from the train station. I would recommend getting a taxi if you have a lot of luggage, due to the uphill walk. The host Yuji-San speaks English pretty well, and will help with anything you ask. The rooms are basic Japanese, with futons and tatami mats. There is a... More

My friend and I stayed here for two nights. We had such a great stay. The walk from the center of town was 10 minutes but it was completely doable. The owner was very kind and took the time to explain the city to us. The room was comfy and having wifi was really nice. The shuttle to the onsen... More

I've been in this Lodge only for a night but I loved it. The place is very nice and welcoming, and very clean too. The owner drove us to the onsen nearby in his own car and also offered to drive us to the station in the next morning. The rooms are traditionally Japanese with tatami which provided a nice... More

Excellent quality/price compromise. 10min walking to train station. Typical and rustic public house in Japanese style and very comfortable. We went there in family with our 2 kids (4 and 1,5 years old), and everyone enjoyed to sleep all together on "futons"! The owner proposed continental breakfast for 800y and other soup, pizza, beer, snack for the diner if just... More

Nice little place to base yourself for a trip to Nikko. Walkable from the station but not for the unfit but not a long taxi ride and Yuji will drop you at the station if you leave at the right time. He also ran us to and from the local onsen on both nights we stayed. Room was comfortable, if... More

I enjoyed my stay in this lodge. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Yuji san the owner provided free tea, water, and condiments and use of utensils in the common area. Although its a bit far from the town center, yuji san can fetch you from the train station. Bike rental is also available.
