From Ijika Daiichi Hotel Kagura, it is the best view of Ise Shima and able to overlook the sunrise from the horizon. The views from the open-air bath and lobby are especially picturesque. Early morning in winter, it is sometimes possible to see Mt.Fuji, and beautiful stars at night. The hotel boasts lobster, abalone cuisine using domestic ingredients.

When I made the booking, I did not realise that the room we booked did not have a bath/shower area. It does have a toilet. We had to use the onsen for our shower, which is not too bad as the onsen is near the dining hall where we have our meals. So after shower, we go straight for our meals. Overall, room is considered spacious with all the amenities we need. It faces the sea and is a plus. In terms of location, you probably would need a car to get there. Quite remote but it offers the peace I was looking for. To get to a convenient store, it took us about a half hour drive. They provided Yukata for your to wear to the onsen meals (dinner and breakfast). Loved the outdoor onsen. The dinner is really good and the service staff, though speak limited English, is very helpful. Breakfast is buffet style and there is always crowd on the 2 days we had breakfast there. Do note that there is no wifi in the room, you can only access their wifi in their common areas.

1. Room When entered the Japanese-style room, I found that every corner of the room had not been cleaned, and dust was visible on the tatami mats, not to mention in all corners of the room. The ceiling was covered with cobwebs, and I wonder where the room had been cleaned or if it had ever been cleaned??? Of course, Spider-man was not there. 2. Fridge Surprise continues with the room.I opened the refrigerator. There was a huge amount of mold in the refrigerator. I guess it's impossible to clean it out even if I cleaned it. The fridge is an old brand, but was that a reason to forgive it? 3. Staff I pressed the remote control to watch TV. Although the batteries were in it, it would not come on. I called the front desk to inform them of the series of events in the room and refrigerator. He/she entered the room without saying their name. Before he/she checked the control, he/she stepped on it without paying attention at all to the futon already laid out. Even after we warned him/her about it, he/she continued to stomp on the washed clothes as he/she moved in a sitting position. I wonder if he/she wants to claim that he is the best at irritating people. 4. Bath The bathtub was a plastic water bathtub that looked like a kindergarten pool. I have nothing to say. 5. Breakfast Looking around the seats, I saw a lot of dust. Second help-dust!! I wonder if they are trying to make us immune. In summary, please look at the reviews of this hotel on many travel websites. There are probably some good reviews. You may be able to avoid this series of events by staying in the new building, but I suggest you consider whether it is worth paying for a place where dust greets you in the first place. If there is a 0 on the star rating, I'll give it 0.

My husband and I road tripped here from our home in Kansai and had a wonderful 1 night stay here. With a few improvements I think this could be 5! - Room had an incredible picturesque view with “ocean side” selection. We opted for the basic room and was pleasantly surprised! Much larger and more appointed than expected #614. Futons were comfy too. - Dinner was great and the $20 upgrade per person was worth it. The presentation alone was impressive (fish head decor! Lol) However, the Ise shrimp was way over cooked and no flavor ~ we couldn’t eat it and was bummed! Breakfast in the main dining room was fine too, appreciated the few western items hehe - Customer Service a bit lazy and slim. No one offered to help with luggage when we arrived lol We also felt very rushed during dinner - it was comical actually, the attendant was lingering and kept coming in when we closed the door (as it was noisy being across the service elevator room). Also weird experience buying special yukata w/ male staff being super up close uncomfortable hahaha would have appreciated woman staff help. - Onsens were good but not amazing. On par for price point. Could be a bit cleaner on the grout. They charge extra I’d you need towels so we just air dried. They should spin it as an eco play to not come off as cheap lol I understand the tactic to curb towel abuse though so whatever. - Very happy with their karaoke private room, 90 minutes for a super reasonable price with great song selection and seemed new. Staff that helped was kind. - Random vending machines around property for snacks and drinks of all kinds was fun. All in all, would return maybe even 2 nights! Very fair pricing. Perhaps being the family next time. The area is wonderful and more to explore. Thanks for a comfortable and enjoyable time!

Our 1 night experience was negative because: 1.We could not get a non-smoking room. We requested one when making our reservation. 2.There is no concierge to help move our luggage from reception to our room which is in a separate wing and required going up and down some steps. We are seniors. The young receptionist saw our plight and went out of her way to help. 3.We were rudely chased out of the dining room about 1 hour from dinner time when all we wanted was to look at what seating options are available. 4.The kaiseki dinner was more quantity than quality. Service was not exceptional 5.It cost us Y500 for use of the ping pong table. At a resort??? 6.For the price charged for 1 night's stay plus dinner and breakfast we did not feel it was good value for money. 7.English is non-existent so unless you speak Japanese or Chinese it is hard to communicate. Having said all that, the view from the dining room and our bed-room is quite spectacular. With a facelift, better management and improved dinner quality this could be a world class resort.

The hotel is near Ise shrine, but need drive yourself. A little far from train station. The fresh sashimi was excellent. The hot springs was what we were looking for . The experience feeding Hawks was also good for my child.

We stayed here for 2 nights it's 30 mins via the hotel shuttle to the hotel and they only pick up at 4 and 5 pm, the location is great we dined in our room and it was all seafood and some of the best we have ever had, the rooms and the hotel are dated although when you look at the price the quality of food and the baths it's a good deal, the also have a roof top viewing area great for sunsets and the breakfast is japanese with only a few western items, the view is awesome , enjoy !!!

We went to Ijikajyo in late December, taking JR train to Toba after visting Ise Jingu Shrine. It was approximately 45+ minutes drive from TOBA JR station, via scenic coastal road. The hotel shuttle was a 10 seater van, collecting hotel guests on the ground floor of the station, adjacent to a Taiyaki shop. Upon arrival, luggage were carried by hotel staff and the staff at the reception desk received us warmly. Chocolate and special drink were offered to us in the lounge area before we were showed into our room. The room was spacious, with a wonderful view of the sea. The room has a genkan with a Tatami interior, with a 1980s old deco flair. The room is very clean and comfortable, shoes are taken off in the door area and slippers are available inside the cupboards. The room has comfortable central heating and working hot water. One of the highlights in our stay is the Onsen Dinner! One of the best food taste in our trip in Ise. It features a seasonal menu and various local delicacy including the famous Ise Lobster and nearby Matsusaka Beef. The sashimi were very fresh and the chawanmushi was exceptionally tasty! The onsen in this hotel is big, and has a generous bathing area. It overlooks the bay and if you are early enough, you can watch a wonderful sunrise before breakfast. The staff in this hotel is another highlight of our stay here. An elderly Japanese gentleman and the lady who worked at the reception were very generous and volunteer to drive us all the way to Ama Hut (海女小屋) when we told them we will be taking public bus there. Being a mother taking care of two children with 3 luggages, I am very grateful for their help and wish to wholeheartedly thank their kindness and hospitality. Thank You!

The hotel is located on a cliff which makes it has a spectacular view of Japan Sea. However, the hotel is really dated and lack of maintenance work. My room was a suite in the east wing with a Japanese style living room and a twin bed room. But the bed room has a kind of odor that we had to spray refresher before sleeping in it. Dinner was served in our room with Ise lobster, oyster, assorted sashimi and Japanese beef. Ingredients were fresh but the way of cooking was just average.

The hotel is on a cliff. Both exterior of the hotel and the hotel room are dated. Tub in the room is made out of black pebbles, so it looks kind of dirty and dated, I end up not using it. Dinning hall has been renovated and looks newer but the way dinner was served made me feel like I'm in cafeteria, rather than a restaurant in a nice hotel. View from hotel lounge and the hotel room is otherwise fantastic. W came for biolumiscent sea fireflies. Because of rain, we end up not seeing it as outing was cancelled. Big disappointment. But that's not hotel's fault. The staff was nice enough to make it up by letting kids play ping pong for free. That reminds me of another thing, they charge you for renting ping pong paddles and ball. How trivial.
