This is the place to stay if you want an AUTHENTIC Japanese experience. You must be ready for it though- this is as authentic as you can get. Food is also very good. Old school lodging for those who wish to experience the Japanese way of living.

Hi June, I booked with Japanes Guesthouses. Good service and information. During our holiday in Japan we stayed at 3 ryokans. Kankaso in Nara was perfect. Authentic, very good food and very friendly staf. The location is good: in the main street leading to the tempel. Enjoy.

How can I book the room? Should I book from their web? Is there any hot spring inside the hotel?
"Look for a different ryokan."
"Get a room adjacent to the garden with the private toilet"
"We had a first floor room with nice views over courtyards"
"Stair cases to the 2nd floor are quite steep. The "Little Deer" suite connected by an outdoor hallway is amazing."
