I must say that the hostel deserves a kudos. Free coffee, green and red tea are offered here. More than that, my friend and I can easily go to Hakata station by foot, well aside from Canal City and the yatai stalls along Naka river. Imagine how we were able to manage our budget because the hostel in itself has... More

The Khaosan Fukuoka is a quiet yet centrally located Hostel. The rooms are simple and functional, the sanitary facilities of good quality. In the foyer there is even the possibility of very inexpensive to purchase some souvenirs. A plus for this hostel. Shopping (Konbini) can be reached in less than 5 minutes and within a radius of around 1 km... More

This is my very first time in a hostel for me. Everything was pretty nice. The location is in walking distance from Hakata station around 10-15 minutes walk. If u come with a large luggage like me, you'll feel a little uncomfortable when u walk to the hostel for the first time but the rest is ok. There's 1 nearby... More

Located 12 minutes walk from the Fukuoka Railway Station, it take 35 minutes walk to the airport. This is a small 3 storey premise with about 24 dorm room. Each dorm room can accommodate 2 to 6 guests. There are a large common room and kitchen/dinning room on the 3/F and shared toilets on each floor. The rooms are clean... More

Booked a single room and found myself in tiny space on groundfloor literrally 1Om away from reception and front door. Very noisy and terrible bed with such a thin matress that left me with a bad back the next day. The atmosphere in the hostel is not particularly nice even though the staff were rather helpful. For the first time... More

About a 5 minute walk from Hakata station in a quiet suburban street. Several convenience store close by. Hostel has all the facilities you need although could do with one or two more washing machines. Toilets and showers are good. Lots of information available about Fukuoka/Hakata as well as elsewhere in Kyushu and staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The common... More

Stayed here for two nights with my wife. Our room was comfortable, everything was clean and well-organised and there was a huge amount of information available for the curious tourist. The location is a little bit away from downtown (Hakata, Tenjin), but it's a pleasant walk through the local neighbourhoods, and there are options for taking buses if you need... More

I've stayed at this hostel three times in December 2011, March 2012, and late September 2012. Let me get the negative out of the way first. The location is fairly difficult to find and is quite a walk from Hakata Station so you will be doing some walking to get to the main area of the city. That being said,... More

Generally as a hostel, Khaosan is quite good. However, the location really isn't great, far from the station and far from the city center of Tenjin or Nakasu- those would be better choices to stay at. It also has very few showers, so you sometimes have to wait. Its otherwise clean, friendly and safe

I arrived here after riding 55 miles on my bicycle from Kitakyushu tired, sore, and mentally beat. The front desk guy greeted me warmly and checked me in without issue. The dorm room has 4 beds with lockers for each person, big enough to fit a sleeping bag, 4 pannier bags from my bicycle, and a small daypack. Each bed... More
