Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I really like this hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable, even by western resort standards. I have an ocean view room and have a view of the resort waterfall below, the beach, and the ocean. The hotel is located at Aoshima, and the nearest train station is Kodomo-no-Kuni, a tiny, unmanned station, seven stops from Miyazaki Station. The area is peaceful and has a few restaurants and bars, souvenir shops, and a Lawson nearby. But really everything one needs is at the resort. Check in was easy and as I was on an award night, very courteous. The beach behind the hotel is largely quiet and is really good for collecting shells, one of the best I’ve ever seen. A half mile down the beach is the Devil’s Washboard, a fascinating geological formation jutting into the ocean that looks like a giant washboard. It’s the main reason tourists visit Aoshima. The resort has a pool, restaurants, and an onsen, none of which I tried. But I assume they are all great. I was here for a break and a couple long walks on the beach. Overall, I loved my stay. Well done ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki!

I spent two nights in this hotel in early December. The hotel is half round in shape and almost all rooms are with ocean view. It is adjacent to beach which is a bit windy in December. I guess it would be popular in summer months. The resort is with large area of outdoor activities. Facilities inside room is up to date and the phone can be carried out for personal use. Wifi is covered inside room. The buffer breakfast offered good variety of food covering western and Japanese style and are of reasonble quality.

The ANA Holiday Inn in Miyazaki is a huge concrete hotel just at the beach. It´s very clean, staff is courtoeus and attentive, the luxury is a bit over the top. The huge onsen is nice, Tattoos have to be hidden. The breakfast buffet is quite amazing, even when a bit like a mass procession. All in all a good hotel, but due to the massive size impersonal.

We stayed four nights in an executive room which was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and no outside noise disturbed ones rest. Internet in the room can be slow, but the speed picked up during our stay. No English speaking tv channels. The public bath was excellent with a sauna attached. Breakfast was a nice combination out of Japanese and Western dishes with ample fresh fruit. Staff as always polite and helpful.

It's a big resort style hotel that is somewhat dated but comfortable and in a good location. From here you can walk along the beach to the Aoshima Island shrine plus to the nice collection of shops and restaurants nearby. There is a surfshop onsite and a lot of people were taking advantage of the gear and lessons, even though there were hardly any waves. The on-site sento (onsen) was a nice way to relax after a day of exploring. Plus the $10 all you can drink for 60min happy hour was also appreciated! From the resort you can drive to all of the major sites in the region within an hour.

The hotel gave one a grand feeling upon entry - ample of space and the decoration was modern. The room was upgraded to the premier floor - 2 semi double beds Ocean View Room, very comfortable for two persons. The hotel is definitely constructed for a resort area providing varies type of out door activities. Unfortunately during my two nights stay was unable to enjoy the facilities because of the inclement weather. However would like to mention that could still enjoy the excellent dinner and breakfast and the hot spring bath. For those occupants leaving the hotel there were staff at the main entrance to provide towel and umbrella. This is commendable. On the whole had a good and comfortable stay plus all staff were polite and helpful. Will definitely return on next occasion.

Room was a little small for a family of four. Clean hot bath which had a great view of the sea. Made use of the laundromat too. Big hotel which seems more catered towards groups or weddings (it has a chapel on the grounds). Good access to the beach.

The ocean view is quite impressive. You have to be aware you get charge a "bathing fee" like they call it, whether you use the onsen or not, and last but not least you only get informed that you get charge for the swimming pool at the checkin. I do not mind, but I do mind knowing all the information at the time of the booking rather than the time of the checkin.....sneaky way of doing business.

I loved this place! We considered staying at the newer, perhaps fancier, Sheraton at the other end of the beach, but proximity to good surf and Aoshima Island won the day and we were very happy with our choice. There’s a surf shop onsite (cheaper than other local shops we checked out) where my son could rent a board and wetsuit, while my daughter and I rented bicycles to explore the miles of beachside paths. Our views were spectacular and we walked the lovely bridge to explore Aoshima Island more than once to admire the Onino Sentaku (Devil’s washboard) and visit the beautiful shrine. We also drove a bit south to the point for spectacular views before heading down to see the Udo Shrine (built into a cave by the sea – a must see if you can get there). Miyazaki has wonders is virtually every direction – rent a car and see as much as you can! The hotel has a slightly dated feel, which I was digging. It is close to many shops and restaurants, but my family was very happy with all of the fun traditional Japanese and conventional choices at the breakfast buffet as well as the Chinese restaurant, traditional Japanese restaurant and hotel café. There’s a karaoke bar as well, but we never made it there. We stayed in the traditional tatami room with futons, which I loved. It was also a very economical choice. My kids, however, preferred regular beds, so we ended up switching rooms our last night. Views are spectacular throughout the hotel. Staff is warm and polite, but be aware that most of them speak very limited English. We arrived early and discovered that they stick closely to their check-in schedule. You can sign up for some kind of rewards program to check in one our early (2pm vs. 3). The new pool was scheduled to open 4/26, so we missed that, and never managed to get to the onsen, but both seem fun. There’s a laundromat downstairs. Machines do not require soap (I couldn’t figure out why) and both washed and dried clothes. You could also program it to call your phone when the wash was finished. Kind of cool. I’d go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose!
