Stayed in this hotel for a business trip, and it was booked by the inviting part, a state budget organisation. They said it is better that something else they initially planned; in all the experience was pretty ok, considering the price range. It was also possible to check in early in the morning after a night flight, well before the...

stayed here for 4 weeks whilst working in Almaty. dirty rooms, small, dreadful bathroom. Breakfast was gross and just reheated food from previous night. Worse part was hard boiled eggs that were green! Most days colleagues and I skipped breakfast. Reception staff are fab and try hard to help but.... If you are hungry go to the café on the...

I am in the Alma Ata now until Monday very early morning because I and several other academics from various countries (Spain, Japan, UK) are being hosted here by a local educational institution that thought this was a quality hotel that could cater to international guests. IT DOES NOT Although I have not experienced this particular issue, three of my...

While I cannot say I am an expert on the Almaty hotel scene, I think this seemed to be a decent option given what is available. I was part of an event that took place at the Intercontinental, which was extremely nice, but I understand quite pricey as well. There are a couple of other 5-star options, but being on...

The location is good; walking distance from a shopping area, nice public gardens near the hotel and also restaurants. However, the rooms are small (at least that is my experience) with small bathrooms and insufficient illumination. The views from the room are great ! if you get a room facing the mountains. The restaurant, I would recommend to avoid it....

I have stayed many times in this hotel on business as it is where my company choose to put me. Generally it is not that bad if you like the retro Soviet style, quaint photos of old cars from 40 years ago and the like. You will also experience the cold water and lack of heating at certain times of...

Yes there was a problem with hot water (although hot showers are available downstairs in the sauna) but the rooms are clean and adequate. The views from the balcony make up for a lot. I found the staff helpful and efficient but it probably helped having a Russian speaker with me. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed in Alma-Ata waiting out a 15 hour layover. There was luke warm water and not much heat in the room. The bed had no top sheet or blanket and the pillowcase was threadbare. The fixtures in sink and tub were broken and the toilet seat came off in my hand. Sorry but a view of the mountains does...

The hotel rooms are clean, but small. The TV set is 14'': you need binoculars to watch tv from bed!!! The bathroom is very small, with shower. Hot water shower is a privilege for the first ones who do it!!! If hot water is over, as it often happens, you have to wait till it is available again: hours !!! Fortunately...
