I have been on several safaris in Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana, but none have come close to our wonderful stay at Campi ya Kanzi. We fell in love with the place - the beautiful Chyulu Hills and wonderful wildlife, where we were one of only a handful of visitors. As well as wonderful game drives, we enjoyed some amazing walks ending with stunning 360 degree views with sundowners, as well as some great horse riding and meeting people from local communities in an authentic way, Our ensuite tent was wonderful and of a high standard and in a very peaceful setting, right in front of a watering hole with wonderful views of Kilimanjaro. All of the food was delicious and plentiful - a credit to the chef. Best of all were ALL of the staff who were very welcoming, professional and helpful. Our wonderful guide, Parashi was the best guide that we have ever experienced (and believe me we are in the travel industry and have travelled a lot!). Parashi was extremely informative and knowledgeable in an unintrusive way and he had a great rapport with our 2 boys. We all felt very emotionally attached to the place (and to Parashi!) - in fact one of our boys felt so emotional that he could not stop crying when it was time to leave! This really is an amazing place that provides a unique experience and you can see what good work is going on with the local communities, wildlife conservation and in terms of the environment and sustainability. Luca and the local Masai communities are doing fantastic conservation work together, ensuring that sustainable tourism works for everyone. You really feel that your money is well spent in this conservancy. Money spent here not only brings the visitor an amazing experience whilst being at one with nature, but also goes a long way to preserving this wonderful piece of Africa for future generations.

We had the most wonderful five days at Campi Ya Kanzi and Chyulu Club last month. It is a beautiful location and we loved being able to walk in the hills surrounding it. It is very special to feel so close to wildlife in such a beautiful safari camp. The staff were all charming and we felt part of the family - our one year old son absolutely loved it too. I would recommend Campi Ya Kanzi as a magical safari lodge to anyone who is interested in conservation, delicious food, stunning views and wildlife.

Our stay at Campi Ya Kanzi with our host, Luca and his staff, was everything you could ask for in a safari. We felt like we were part of the family during our holiday and I was truly sad to leave. This was my first time in Africa. Luca welcomed 10 of us traveling as a family to his home and conservancy and explained the trust and his commitment to being carbon neutral, which our visit helped to pay for. He is also very involved with giving back to the local village and community. The staff, particularly Claudia, Parishi, and Pasheit took good care of us during the three-day vacation. The accommodations were perfect, the common area/lodge has a Hemingway feel to it, both comfortable and intriguing and at night when completely lit by kerosene lamps it is magical. The large tents with en suite bathrooms that are on platforms were comfortable and spacious. The warm water bottles in bed at night are a cozy touch. We saw a great deal of wildlife including elephants, zebras, giraffe, wildebeest, impalas, topis, gazelles, hartebeest, warthogs and buffalos and even a couple of lions early one morning. The food was plentiful and tasty. The small impala that they rescued who is aptly named, Bambi, acted like our family pet – greeting us when we returned from any excursion. Our hike to a beautiful view to have sun downers the first evening showed us the otherworldly light that Africa is known for but is difficult to describe in words. We also climbed to the Cloud Forest for more spectacular views, had a picnic breakfast out in the bush after tracking some elephants, visited the local village and school, and had a walk to a lava tunnel where a special surprise awaited us. Luca is passionate about Africa, conservation, and educating the local children, and that passion is palatable and contagious. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our magical stay at Campi Ya Kanzi.

The Campi Ya Kanzi boutique eco-lodge is the only camp in Kenya Luxury Safari Lodge this place is visited by people because of the wildlife around. Campi Ya Kanzi operates with a very sustainable process. The whole lodge is presentable and beautiful the furniture are all made of natural source even the paints are natural ingredients. The most fun part of Campi Ya Kanzi is the wildlife.

Campi Ya Kanzi was straight out of an old Hollywood glam safari with zebra skin rugs and golden gramophone! Because our host, Luca, is Italian we had bidets in our tents; and because he’s an Eco advocate, there was a very sophisticated water collection and heating system giving us unlimited hot water showers amongst the gorgeous masonry worked bathroom. Our children were in a separate tent, which was nerve-racking at night when I heard the lions. I wish we had walkie-talkies so that we could communicate with them. Chyulu Hills was very arid in late June (maybe always) so there is limited animal sightings (lots of hoofed animals) on our drives, so they work really hard to make up for it with absolutely amazing adventures, including (strenuous) hikes into the Cloud Forrest. (You don’t get this in the Mara!) English style riding safari, if you can pass the riding test. This is for serious riders and not a vacation standard trail ride. And sun-downers and dinner in a cave — local food, cooked in the cave. The food is much more “experimental” maybe even “European," unlike the more classic American comfort food we got in our camp at the Mara. Our tent was right in front of the camp made watering hole (did I mention it’s Eco focus), which meant we saw (hoofed) animals all day and heard lions all night. (!!) The Campi Ya Kanzi staff was fantastic: Claudia was a natural sub for Luca - charming, knowledgable, helpful. Pacheet our sage Masai guide and x?x his childhood friend and our watchman, were eagle eyed, protective, knowledgeable and fun, teaching us how to brush our teeth with a special twig. (BTW, these Masai have pearly teeth!) We went to visit a school and village, which turned out to be THEIR village! It was lovely to meet his wife and family. This east side experience was very different than the west side Mara, which made us appreciate everything Kenya had to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and so glad it was such a good one. Just a clarification: no zebra skins, just skins from Maasai cows! Come back soon :-)

This camp was well run with very good tent accommodations. The food was stunningly delicious! Managerial staff and guides were uniquely exceptional of the highest quality. Although wildlife is not great here it was a nonetheless very good first camp experience for us in Kenya. I can recommend it provided you're also going to other camps with a greater amount of wildlife.

Camp Ya Kanzi takes eco-lodges to a whole new level! The management is 100% committed to conservation and sustainability. They run on 100% solar energy, they recycle or compost all their waste, they have solar powered hot water and soon will have one of the first electric safari vehicles. The staff here is delightful, friendly and so hospitable. Luca, Antonella and Claudia, the owners and management, are some of the most gracious hosts. They join the group for dinners and ensure you engage in activities that suite your tastes. What I love about this camp is the ability to not only do safari drives, but hike, horseback ride and visit cultural sites. This is stunning location where daily you can see Mt. Kilamanjaro. I highly recommend this camp to anyone who loves conservation, the outdoors, good food and conversation!

You could ask for a better view from your room. But the best part of staying at the camp is the staff and the fact they are a leader in ecotourism. They are partners with the local Maasai village providing schools, clinics and employee them at the camp. But they also have a lion project that is extremely successful. When you add that up along with the lovely accommodations, good food and so many activities to choose from it makes for a awesome experience. I can't wait to visit again!

The food and the service were awesome. Claudia ,who s in charge, was very kind and the Maras were really good at looking for animals. Only 4 stars because we were scared about the animals noises during the nights and the lights in our room were simply too low. Yo have to go there.
