This was our second stay and it was as enjoyable as before. Comfortable cottage, excellent food, very friendly service, splendid pool, kids friendly dog,... The only drawback was that our stay was too short.

Only went to restaurant but viewed rooms. If you want great battered fish with chips this is where to go. Also the finest salads of the restaurants we tried in malindi. Also do good spicey chicken. They also have other UK favourites like cottage pie and as such a welcome change from the predominant Italian focus when you need a...

We mostly liked our stay in this British-owned and run beach hotel in Malindi. Food was good and reasonably priced, the different dinner options were great (BBQ evening, Mongolian barbecue, crab night, etc.). Friendly service and good location on the main beach of Malindi. The pool and cabins are a bit dated, however, and seem to belong to a budget...

This is the place to enjoy really good food in very pleasant surroundings. Quick friendly service at very reasonable prices. The only downside is some of the ex pat regulars think Kenya is still a British colony. I despise these people with their superior attitude, there is no place for them in modern Kenya.

The Driftwood is a wonderful resort and beach club on the Kenyan Coast in the small town of Malindi. Check in at this wonderful resort is made even sweeter with a complimentary glass of freshly squeezed mango juice. From the check in desk, you are escorted to your room by one of the friendly staff members to your room. The...

We had a lovely time there. The owner Roger sure knows how to make you feel at home. Our lunch sadly was pretty average. However, the place makes up for it. The oysters were very good and i recommend them 100%. We will be back!

This is our second stay at Driftwood this year. You can see our previous review for a very pleasant vacation here last August. With this visit, we now feel very much “at home”. Once again, we find the staff friendly, helpful and efficient, and the facility is extremely well maintained. We have had a wonderful time, again. There are many...

Roger and his excellent staff create a wonderful experience every time we stay with them. We have stayed 2 weeks each year for the last 9 years! With a oceanside backdrop, the property is incredible, and the staff always take pride in making it look wonderful. The villas are clean, well kept, and very nice private accommodations. The beach and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Suitable for families, couples or groups. Everyone will enjoy The Driftwood for its barefoot, relaxed, ‘family home’ style. We also host a large number of wedding ceremonies. The Kenyan coast is a lush diversity of various environments. The marine life in the parks is absolutely stunning and only getting better and better since the law was implemented to protect from over-fishing. The edges of the beach are lined with palm trees that sway gently in the wind. Further inland there are the lush tropical forests that house hundreds of species of bird life and animal life. The most famous of these is the Sokoke forest which is half an hours’ drive from The Driftwood. ... more   less
