Located on Jalan Magazine, centrally in the city of George Town, this historical site was famously known as Wembley Park, the name bestowed during the British rule. This propitious site was the prime venue of entertainment where theatrical troupes ranging from European and American operetta and vaudeville, Chinese opera inclusive of Javanese tonal performed for Penangites. Complementing the surroundings are colonial houses and old-fashioned shops. The Wembley's 415 comfortable guestrooms inclusive of Suites and Executive Rooms are exquisitely designed with batik-style motif, complement with luxurious amenities and complimentary WiFi access. Offering panoramic views of the north and south channels including the iconic Penang Bridge and the city of George Town, The Wembley's guestrooms and suites are well-appointed with modern facilities that are practical to both business and leisure travellers. Guests will appreciate the Hotel's convenient accessibility to major commercial and government offices, cultural and historical sites, quaint shops, shopping complexes, bazaars and a variety of popular local food fare. The famed Batu Feringghi beach is a mere 30 minutes' drive away whilst it takes only five minutes to get to the Penang Ferry Terminal!

Stayed here for 8 nights for our annual Christmas Asia holiday !

Hotel staff were friendly and polite and helpful
Housekeeping guy on level 21 was very attentive and did an excellent job daily turning over our room.
The technology with the electronic switches which indicate to clean the room or dnd is great and I’ve not seen that in any other hotel !

Can’t say anything about the food as we didn’t dine there !

My only negative was on the first night we had to call housekeeping 3 times to get an adapter delivered! First time did not come , then rang again and they say oh sorry we forgot we come now , they still hadn’t turned up after 1 hr. 3 rd time I rang it came with in 20 minutes .
This area definitely needs improvement as well as the wifi was rubbish

Apart from this it’s a great hotel with comfy beds

I thought I got it at a bargain on bookings.com, which was already very cheap, but when I decided to extend my stay the front-of-house told me about the promo of St Giles website, which was even cheaper.
Everyone was friendly, but Harn stood out, I felt he went above and beyond to make my stay at St Giles a memorable one.

The location of the hotel isn’t your usual tourist spot when visiting the island, it’s in the city, there are no beaches nearby. However, it fit the purpose of my visit, which is to explore the food scene. It is located 30mins walk to the esplanade, about 7mins walk to Hin Bus Depot, and many other of Penang’s famous eateries.

Will definitely return to this hotel the next time I’m back in Penang.

This is not my first stay at The Wembley St Giles whenever I visit Penang. Not only the location is perfect, the room rates and service offered are top notched considering its not a 5 star hotel. Also for those who drives, parking isnt an issue here.

My recent stay this week was a great one, with Ish and Loga manning the front desk providing me superb service. Of course it wasnt just the both of them, each and every hotel staff gave us a pleasant experience and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for making mine a great one.

Apart from that, room and toilet was very clean and we were satisfied. Bed is forever comfortable here. Water pressure might be a little low for a better shower experience. Overall, do keep it up, we will certainly be back and of course, to recommend others to stay here as well.

regards,
Adrian.

Upon arrival we had to queue for 30 minutes as it was very busy - I feel this shouldn’t of happened as could of focused the staff to make things more streamline for busy periods of the day. Whilst waiting to be checked in we did notice everywhere was very dirty and dusty, even around the reception area the plant pots have a thick layer of dust around them, old Christmas decorations that are filthy.
When we finally got inside our room it was like it had never been hoovered at all!
The floor had toenails, pubic hair, crumbs, stains and all sorts of mess on it. The bathroom was covered in stains, the toilet had not been cleaned.
The whole hotel was disgustingly dirty everywhere even in all the hall ways you can clearly see the floors are not done.

Considering this hotel is meant to be a 4 star you wouldn’t expect this level of cleaning to be missed throughout the whole of the building.

It could be a nice hotel but needs more attention to cleaning and also the rooms are quite dated with scuffs everywhere, marks on the furniture, stains etc.

I personally wouldn’t choose to stay here again unless the whole of the building had a good intense spring clean!

Pros: Hot and cold water functioning well. Good water pressure. Decent bathroom. Somewhat quick response (30mins waiting) for housekeeping request such as coffee/tea, extra towels.

Cons : front desk professional service can be better. After all you are the frontier of your hotel. First impression counts. No matter what is the crisis, stay calm, collected and do not show disgusted face. E.g. when customer explained or asked parking ticket error, room service, sanitisation protocol, safety protocol.

The hotel room (stayed in Deluxe) carpet needs a deep cleaning or remove completely. The pillows have brown stains. Mattress is a crater. wooden cupboards, tables, side tables - showing their age and scratch marks, all these needs to be changed, hence the title of a much needed renovation.

The pool has too many green moss floating about as you swim. It feels like you are in an open pond. It needs cleaning.

This is my second stay at this establishment after a year. Came back because I was impressed by the great hospitality and service extended to me during my first visit.

Checked in today and was pretty disappointed with the bedding condition; doesn’t look fresh and untidy. See the first 2 photos attached.

After almost 30 minutes I thought I heard someone outside my room. Upon opening my room door I saw the housekeeper and asked her if the room has been cleaned. She told me to wait while she consult her supervisor.

She came back with her supervisor/manager and another housekeeper. I told the “supervisor” about my bed condition and he immediately asked the two housekeepers to change the bed linens. I then left the room to them and went off doing my business.

Came back 2 hours later, found the room much “fresher”. Very happy with the “supervisor” and the 2 housekeepers for their professionalism. They should be recognised by their management.

The hotel location opposite with First Avenue mall and Shangrila Hotel, few minutes walk to Komtar, Prangin Mall and Gama. About 10 minutes walk from Sunway food hawkers. Hotel Lobby very nice, room clean and wide but room sound proof very bad. Whole night can't sleep well coz the sound from night live music until 2-3 AM very strong heard from room inside. Neighbour spoken fm Mandarin to Indian language and door slam heard very clearly. Staying here for 3 nights in room with connecting door really nightmare. The bath room towel not changing everyday even has put it to be change.

The hotel rating doesn’t justify the physical experience at all. I booked an Executive Deluxe King room for 4 days 3 nights, when I open the room, it was dusty and dirty. The hotel stated the room comes with complimentary drinks in the fridge however the fridge was emptied. Due to eco-friendly operation, they do cleaning for alternate days, they didn’t come to the room to clean up or offer to top up the bottled waters at all, I have to call them several times until they pick up the call to request to top up the bottled mineral water. The executive lounge was bad, the smells stinks when you open the lounge as food trays was left opened, drinks was limited by coffee machine. I visited the gym, there was no towel and bottled water, the water dispenser was emptied. The machines are majority faulty and it felt like the machines are there for display purposes. Overall, with the price paid for the hotel stay, it didn’t justify the experience at all. You could jolly well pay a lower price for such hotel experience.

Arrived in the hotel room and found out only 2 pillows on the king size bed, with the remaining 2 hidden inside the cupboard. The pillows weren't fitted with the correct pillow sheets and the pillows were all exposed out. It was an unpleasant sight as the pillows were looking very old and yellowish, and it smells. Had to request for the housekeeping to change the sheets, and the reason given by the housekeeping staff was there weren't enough sheets available. What a surprise coming from a 4-star hotel. The next day, the housekeeping team came and clean our room and took away all our towels WITHOUT replacing any towels for us. We had to call to request them to bring us the towels, but no one send us any towels after waiting almost an hour. Had to walk down to maindesk to complain. The housekeeping staff did not clear out the rubbish from the bin as well, all the rubbish from the previous night were still in the bin. Proper maintenance needs to be done as well.. TV basically useless, all the channels were blurry, not sure why they bothered to have a TV there. Towel rack looks like it is going to fall off anytime soon since the wall/tile is broken. Wallpaper inside the room is peeling off and there were glue stains all over the room. Totally an unpleasant stay this time, will consider other hotels nearby for my next trip to Penang.

The location was great for us to walk around and explore nearby shopping malls and reach areas like Little India and Gurney Walk in a matter of 15 minutes via Grab. We could also take walks to nearby night markets and shops to try the street food and Nasi Kandar, which was great!

However, these are our gripes with the experience:

1. Rooms are cleaned on alternate days, so you'd have to call housekeeping should you run out of amenities
2. The beds weren't the most comfortable, because the pillows were rather thin and so couldn't support our necks that well.
3. We opted for breakfast at the hotel, and for the week we stayed at the hotel the food options were the same. You can imagine how sick we were by the last day.
4. At breakfast, the food is also not replenished actively and so we had to give up on trying a number of dishes because we simply weren't ready to waste time waiting
5. While there were Malay, Chinese, and Western fare available at the hotel breakfast, Indian food options weren't there at all. If we wanted a roti canai, we had to walk out for a quick fix.

While the rooms were also smaller than we expected, we appreciate the staff who took our request for adjourning rooms into account. Overall this was a pleasant experience, but we'd recommend skipping the hotel breakfast unless you're going there for a very short trip.
