The Sunset Reef Resort and Spa is a great choice for those seeking relaxation, fun and Mauritian hospitality all in one place. We are located in the north-western coast of Mauritius, at Pointe aux Piments, 13 kms away from the capital city, Port Louis. Pointe aux Piments, being a typical fisherman’s village, offers peace and serenity. It is the perfect address for a holiday escapade and to connect. It has a three Star rating from May 2018.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our recent stay at the Sunset Reef Resort & Spa in Pointe Aux Piments turned out to be a distressing experience, uncovering a stark dissonance between the enticing promises made on lastminute.com and the stark realities that awaited us. Despite the alluring reviews that had initially piqued our interest, our stay was marred by an array of vexing disappointments. From the very outset, it was palpable that the resort's showcased grandeur was far from genuine. The picturesque images of a luxurious escape clashed sharply with the shabby and antiquated guest house that greeted us upon arrival. The exterior was a canvas of faded paint, cracked walls, and a prevailing aura of abandonment that cast a pall of disappointment over our stay. One of the most egregious distortions was the resort's claim of being a beachfront property, a claim prominently touted on lastminute.com. We were led to believe in a tranquil beach haven, only to realize that accessing the "beach" entailed a protracted and inconvenient journey, rendering the convenience and proximity promised on the website nothing more than an illusion. Adding to our disillusionment was the dining experience at the resort. The breakfast buffet was bereft of variety and freshness, and the dining area resembled a lackluster cafeteria rather than a haven of culinary delight. The lack of zeal and attentiveness from the staff further exacerbated our growing sense of dissatisfaction. Furthermore, the overarching disappointment of our stay was so profound that we found ourselves forgoing a visit to the spa entirely. Given the myriad letdowns we had encountered across other facets of our stay, we struggled to muster any enthusiasm for the spa facilities. In summation, our encounter with Sunset Reef Resort & Spa underscored the disconcerting gap between the allure promised on lastminute.com and the stark realities that ultimately transpired. Deceptive advertising, lackluster amenities, and indifferent customer service converged to create an experience that fell woefully short of the expectations set by the platform. We emphatically urge potential patrons to exercise discernment when considering this resort and to explore alternative options that genuinely uphold the prospect of an enjoyable and memorable vacation.

Mr. Dowlut is a gem. He carries out his duty to perfection. His warm hospitality and dedication towards his customers is exceptional. Fantastic food, great ambiance and cordial staff are the assets of the resorts. The cleanliness of the restaurant and the swimming pool area makes the resort even more appealing. Great teamwork !

Was there on 3rd August Service was stellar with a dedicated team. Consult Mr L Dowlut for all your needs, he's a joyful gentleman who understands clients needs. Mr Robert and Mr Pazal are the go to guys in the restaurant. The ground-floor restaurant is accessible and wheelchair friendly.

I’ve been to sunset reef for a relaxing weekend , after reading these review I was afraid of making the wrong choice , but thankfully i had the best weekend , such a loving atmosphere saturday night where there was karaoke night , the guys sang so nicely which made a loving atmospheric , There was a buffet of selected choice ( seafood , Mix salads , Meat , Fatata , Rice , Bread , Vegetables corner ) frankly speaking The food was soo good and tasty that I ate twice. Even the dessert was good where we were served of juicy mix fruits and “ sagool” On the next morning , I had a dream breakfast with a a great seaview and wonderful staff. Highly recommended Thanks to all personnel.

Room was nice. Nice bath tub and good room set up. Location of the room 107 is in front of pool, ground floor, very close to the bar and restaurant. However, facilities were not good. TV live channels keep buffering. Fridge (mini bar) was not ready and switched off. Decent size pool with warm water ( not sure if heated). Sea front hotel but swimming is not possible. No beach to enjoy. Staff was nice and welcoming. Manager Manoj was very helpful. The thing we didn’t like was the food. The range of the buffet and the food quality was nowhere near 3 star. I would strongly recommend the management to review the restaurant set up and more importantly the choices of food. Staff in the restaurant need to be better trained. We were not offered to drink during our lunch and there were staff everywhere and restaurant was not busy. I would love to go back if i hear positive feedback about the restaurant.

All I can say... Excellent service... Thanks to Mr Arveend-the hotel manager, Mr kunal and Pazal and teams for the excellent service at the bar.... Great thanks for the kitchen teams especially Chef Steward for the tastiest food in the buffet and its pastry chef for the birthday cake which was so delicious... Don't forget about the housekeeping department which is always here for their excellent work to maintain our room with the amenities and decorations for the birthday special.
