We were initially a little apprehensive about being inside the medina wall but it was definitely the right place to be, so close to the souk and the lovely harbour but quiet and it felt very safe. It was great to see the little workshops and the local people going about their daily life. The apartment was extremely comfortable, with... More

Dar 91 is a superb base for exploring Essaouira and the surrounding area. As it is set in a street where the vast majority are locals you get to see, hear, feel and smell everyday life. It is nice sometimes just to sit in the living area and hear the goings on down below from the horses hooves each morning... More

Dar 91 is a serviced flat (someone cleans and bring a basic breakfast) just inside the Essaouaria Medina. The main attractions of this place is the decor which is cool, and the roof terrace which offers excellent views of the town and the sea. The flats are situated above an art Gallery owned by the guys who run the apartments,... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation. A mix of retro and Moroccan style which worked really well together. And located on the wall of the medina along the artisan street with little workshops manufacturing and selling you their wares but also you are living alongside the people themselves. The people are very friendly and only too happy to help... More

Within the medina in an 'edgier' part (but don't let that put you of, Essaouira is very safe), rare to find the chance to have the combination of comfort, space and local charm. The team supervising the place magically know exactly when to come say hello and when to leave you in peace and extremely charming - nothing is too... More

I stayed in Tlata in February this year and found it very cosy and comfortable with plenty of room, a self contained split level characterful space with everything needed for pleasant stay. There is a double sleeping area on the upper level and downstairs an open plan living area with a small kitchen and a bathroom. The ingredients for breakfast... More

Fanatastic little gem within the medina walls and a stonesthrow from all the necessary amenities including the amazing market full of hussle and bussle, food items and indigenous momentos without any harassment from the locals. Jeremy, Paolo and Radoune and Halima were the perfect hosts and tended to every requirement that was asked of them from local Hammam's to booking... More

Comfortable clean capacious apartment. Daily breakfast appears as if by magic, good en suiteish showers and w.c. A former watchtower so it has 4 steep staircases, 2 of which give access to the veranda and roomy rooftop washing line/super sunlounger area with panoramic views of the town and Atlantic rollers. A basic kitchen, 2 burner gas ring, sink and fridge,... More

We had a lovely five days stay at Dar 91. The appartment was amazing, so pretty, nicely furbished, a little museum it seemed, and super clean. Great rooftop! The owners and everyone working there are nice and very social, happy to have a chat and very approachable. Would definitely go here again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dar 91 is light, airy and comfortable. It fuses old and new Moroccan and European styles, but without being slavish to any particular "look" or period. Unlike many Moroccan properties let out to tourists, Dar 91 does not feature a central courtyard - which can be a big advantage if you value your privacy, as you won't be sharing your apartment or roof terrace with other guests. We give a minimum of 10% of our profits to Project 91, our charity to help local young people improve their skills and find work. ... more   less
