The lodge is a short drive from the city centre, which on the one hand makes it super peaceful at night, but on the other hand means a short 5 minute drive is needed to get an evening meal as the lodge offers only a breakfast… It has a small number of individual units for 2 guests, each with super large room, seating area, great walk in shower and stunning desert views. It is located at the end of a nice residential street of pretty fine houses, so you feel safe quickly. One or two units are actually large “villa” self catering sleeping 6 or more, which are break along places…. Breakfast offered at he lodge is really good, with eggs to your liking made fresh…. All in all a great stop…

We often need to overnight or spend a few days in Swakopmund but prefer more open locations. This place, allied with the similar Stiltz closer into town, is ideal. A previously quiet rural area overlooking the ephemeral river Swakop and some splendid dunes and yet easily accessible to the main town either by foot or car. This is B&B only so one needs to eat main meals in the town but this is just few minutes drive away. The rooms are actually quirky looking bungalows each separate from its neighbour and mostly with excellent views over the river. Paths are lit at night and there is ample covered parking for one's vehicle. The rooms are furnished to good standard and clean. Bed, sitting area and access to a balcony are standard as is the excellent en suite Bathroom area. There is a fridge and writing desk and the room is WiFi enabled and a stove is fitted for those 'winter' evenings.. Breakfasts are taken in the communal building behind reception and the Fare is comprehensive with buffet, cereals, coffee etc., plus the option of cooked dishes on request. We booked direct by mail and the process was trouble free and friendly. If in Swakopmund in future this will be our first call.

The lodge is a bit far from the city center (5 min ride) but the view of the dunes makes it totally worth it. The facilities are great (but no pool) and the room is well equipped. No dinner is served but you will find plenty of good restaurants in town. We definitely recommend to visit this place.

We spent a lovely night in a 2 room bungalow overlooking the desert dunes with a view also of the ocean . The rooms each had a refrigerator and lovely walk in shower. They served a nice breakfast at the main office. The rooms were very spacious and had a fireplace as well.

This is an absolute must stay when in Swakopmund. Although just 3 kilometers out of town, this lodge is situated opposite the desert with the most spectacular views. The lodge is really quite and serine. The tranquility sitting on the verandah with the views over the dry riverbed and desert is something to see for yourself. The lodge is extremely neat and clean and the attention to detail mesmerizing. The staff is super friendly. Thank you Elsie for making our stay picture perfect and really going the extra mile. Breakfast is great. Thank you Miriam for the excellent service at breakfast. Desert Breeze is highly recommended.

The Desert Breeze Lodge in Swakopmund was a complete surprise as it was booked for us by Live the Journey. We were travelling with teenage twin boys and allocated individual units with exceptional views of the Namib desert across the Swakop River. We arrived unexpectedly early from Walvis Bay, but the manager Margariet was able to accommodate us immediately in these delightful free-standing units perched on the rocks above the (now) dry river bed. The lodge has unique architectural features and beautiful rock sculptures in the garden to complement the stunning wide vistas of the Namib. After a week of dune driving and camping, we had a load of washing which the friendly and helpful ladies of the Desert Breeze Lodge washed, dried and ironed in record time. Thank you Maggie for the helpful and smiling service. We will definitely return to this special place!

When someone, with a beautiful and different vision from everyone else, manages to materialise that vision, then the result is something like Desert Breeze !! It is a piece of art. From the choice of location, to the architecture, to the colours, the internal design and decor of the bungalows. We stayed for 15 days and never tired of that view; the constant dance of light on the sand dunes of the Namib! Waking up to that view was a daily nourishment of the soul. There is a touch of taste and beauty throughout the Lodge; the enormous sculptures by Knut Huneke blending in so much with the environment and adding to the sense of vastness and desolation of a desert landscape. The bungalows are perched on the rocky cliff side of the Swakop River and on the other side of the river starts the Namib Desert with the beautiful sand dunes. In addition to the stunning location and tasteful, comfortable bungalows.....thank you Dani Holloway ....... the staff deserve a big thank you for being so helpful and friendly. Thank you Margaret, Andria, Elsie, Emily and Otilia. If circumstances permit, there is no doubt that we will be staying with you again!

I stayed in 'The Villa' for an extended amount of time with some colleagues. We were in awe of the amazing views from our rooms of the dunes. The staff provided excellent service. We were usually greeted with smiles on a daily basis. The breakfast is amazing and something to look forward to in the morning. On a side note, the dunes near these lodges are perfect for sand boarding! We bought a sand board and the lobby also had a couple extra boards to spare. The view of the dunes and sliding down them at 69 kph is one of the highlights of our stay at the Desert Breeze!

Stayed 2 nights here. Excellent accommodation with spacious houses with fantastic views and balconies. Breakfast very extensive. Elsie from the front desk was very helpful and managed everything just fine. She is one of the best staff members we met during our trip comparing to other accommodations in Namibia.

This place is unique and totally different from all the other accommodations in swakop. The Bungalows are huge and spacious and the view into the dunes is just magnificent. Shower with an open glass on top, where you can view the stars and clouds while enjoying your shower, was my highlight. Improvement can be made at breakfast, as we waited too long for our eggs and our kids hot milk for their cereal.
