After 45 days in Panama and 8 hostels, finally a cozy place where one can feel at home. The huge house looks like a Swiss chalet with wooden high ceilings. Nice garden near a stream with wooden double lying chairs. The dorm is fantastically spacious with only 11 beds (5 bunkbeds). Lockers and towels available. The whole house is very...

We are a family with two young children, we had a private room with our own simple bathroom. We loved this place. Super friendly and helpfull staff, clean room, and a communal kitchen which wasn't perfect, but functional and just fine. Later on in our journey we decided to come back, we got 'our' room again, and it felt a...

We tried the cabin, the private room, and the rooms with shared bathroom... 1. The cabins are lovely at the river front. You have a small terrace for the two of you and a nice bathroom. Throughout the hostel they use bottles as building material, which gives the room a unique and coherent look. Big LIKE! 2. The private room...

I stayed at Refugio del Rio for 5 nights in 3 different rooms. Overall, this was my favourite accommodation in my 2 weeks in Panama, It was a very warm and friendly atmosphere that felt like a home away from home. The hostel could use a little TLC (ex: dorm bathroom/kitchen), but it's part of the charm. I really liked...

This place really is great for recovering from exhausting hikes, trips, adventures etc. We arrived after spending half a week of adventure in the middle of the jungle in a low-cost backpacker hostel (Lost & Found) and loved el Refugio del Rio from the first day. The location and decoration is just utterly beautiful with some hammocks just next to a...

We stayed in a private room for 4 days. The place was ok, but not great. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the area of the hostel was good too. We did not like our room though, there were tiny black ants everywhere and it was not very clean.

A friend recommended this place and i do not regret following her advice! The staff were super friendly and helpful and made you feel right at home. The girl working the tour desk helped me plan my adventures in and around boquete and had great tips for hikes. The dorm i stayed in had 12 beds, but provided tons of...
