Detailed Reviews
I stayed here with a university group abroad and it was absolutely amazing. The family is incredibly friendly and the kids are really sweet. They make delicious, full meals three times a day for you, and treat you with 5-star service. The sleeping accommodations are not luxurious but they will certainly fit your needs. The dining area is beautiful and they even let you hang out in their living room and monopolize their TV should you so choose. They have two very cute and friendly dogs if you like dogs, but they have a space for them to stay away from you if you don't like dogs/have allergies. There is a very challenging hike up the mountain behind their place and their son accompanied my friends and me all the way up - he was very encouraging and funny too! Finally, the owner used to live in the US and he speaks English well so translation is not an issue. If I ever come back to Boquete, I will definitely be staying here!

We stayed here with a school program and it did not disappoint. The staff was incredible, the food was the best I had on my 10-week trip and had the nicest patio to relax on. We had about 15 of us and we always felt at home whether it was reading on the porch, watching a movie in the living room, or having a birthday cake they made for a fellow student. 10/10 Recommend!

It is a very pleasant place where you can breathe the true nature of Boquete, its very hospitable hosts make sure that you do not miss anything during your stay, they welcome you with a soft drink and a smile!
The room was a 10, everything was very clean. The sunrise is priceless from the balcony with good coffee, it could be like this every day. Breakfast included fantastic good portions.
My children didn't finish it by going out to enjoy the garden and swings. And the most interesting thing is that they have a Piedra de Lino senders right there. Highly recommend these rooms in the mountains.

This was a beautiful place. The rooms were far better than expected, and the owners are absolutely wonderful. I would definitely return to casa Pedro if I came to boquete. They had everything a person could need, from great recommendations of town and hikes to lovely breakfast options.

I found this place really awkward to stay in. I travel very frequently and though I love the charm of a B&B, I don't want to go through somebody's living room each time I leave my room. I also felt like it was unclear what could be expected - we were asked if we wanted something for breakfast, but I wasn't sure if it was asked as a personal favor... Again, perhaps for some kind of traveler it would be perfect, but it wasn't right for me.

Peter and Marilin run a lovely, inexpensive hostel -- really a modified bed and breakfast, which they have built with care and taste.
Located in the hills about 5 minutes outside the center of Boquete, Casa Pedro provided my son and myself with a clean, large and comfortable room with a big bathroom. Nothing fancy, but everything was new or in excellent condition -- including mattresses and bedding. All done tastefully.
The setting is large piece of property, with a delightful patio and a large grassy area. The atmosphere is open and tranquil, with no other buildings nearby to intrude.
The hostel is a single building -- rooms have been added on to the original house where the owners live. No large dormitories.
Meals cost extra, but are delicious and worth it. We had breakfast both days of our stay, and the food was exceptional -- comida tipica -- flavorful and fresh. Marina will cook to your preferences -- with or without meat, fresh fruit, etc. The eggs come staright from their own brood of chickens.
Peter, who originally hails from the U.S., was really helpful in suggesting where to go in the area. He's very friendly, but not at all overbearing. My son and I felt as though we were house guests, not just paying customers.
For anyone coming to Boquete, I highly recommend Casa Pedro. I would definitely stay there again, and would probably eat more meals there, as well! As a bonus, the wi-fi connection is excellent, and the hot water always worked.

I've been to Boquete a few times. The other hostels and hotels are all formal, and that formality in my opinion makes you lose a very important part of the Boquete experience. My girlfriend found this place and we booked on a whim. To clarify we were in the mountain view room at around $350 per week as of April 2014 (there's another at around $100 less but I messed up the scheduling).
The good:
- Comfortable bed, clean room, hot if schizophrenic showers. The room is basic but it has everything you need.
- It's a great location if you like to hike. The home is roughly 45 minutes outside of the town on a tall ridge. It's a great walk down a flower-flanked street that ends at the best cup of coffee I've ever had (Cafe Ruiz, make sure to try at least one cafe negro there even if you don't like coffee). Walking up is another story and you can get a taxi for around $2-3.
- Their dogs are great. They have two huskies, one an adolescent and one an adult. They're very friendly and playful, plus they'll warm up to you instantly which is a great feeling in such a home-style environment.
- Peter's wife is a fantastic cook and made what's in my opinion the best dinners in Boquete. $4 breakfast and $8 lunch/dinner (again April 2014) with advance notice of at least a few hours. They'll accommodate requests. For dinner I recommend the fish or pork, both served with vegetables, salad, and a smoothie. It's also worth noting that they have an open kitchen and you're free to cook in it.
- It has a really, really good view. You'll wake up to mountains. There's nothing better to wake up to.
- Great hosts. They're friendly people with a cordial, quiet son. Peter speaks fluent English, his wife speaks it very well as well, and both know the area. They're very accommodating and even offered to take my girlfriend to their personal clinic when she fell ill.
- The internet is good. Steady, DSL speeds, no real complaints there.
The bad:
- The power is kind of wonky. Sometimes it goes out for a few minutes taking the wifi with it.
- It's far away from anything in town. Again, 45 minute walk. That's not a problem for daily adventures but if you are just going to get a drink or something your only options are down the hill.
- There isn't much privacy. The room we were in was right next to the kitchen and shared a bathroom with some other room but had no door separating us from the corridor. It's quiet, but you'll always be in close proximity to others unless you book one of the cabins outside.
In all, I'd highly recommend this place and stay there again if I go back.

+1
We spent a week at this beautiful location. The family goes above and beyond any expectations we had. The place is clean, quiet, and beautiful. The grounds are well maintained and safe. We always felt like our room and belongings were secure. We can't wait to return to this amazing place with this welcoming wonderful family. It's by far one of the best experiences we had on our travels thru Panama.

Don't miss an opportunity to spend time at casa pedro. My wife and I are post retirement and over 60. We never really traveled much. First time in Panama ,first time in hostel/b@b. We can't say enough good about casa pedro. We think the place has it all at a reasonable price. We felt absolutely at home ,pedro and Marilyn made us feel like family. Both privacy and social are available. Large and smaller acommodations in a charming mountain setting only 10min.from town. Raised in new york...pedro s english was a relief for us. Marylnn s cooking is 2nd to none ! Pedro was happy to help and very knowledgeable at assisting with all our travel needs. Boquete is the jewel of panama and casapedro is the jewel of boquete. The owners were great and the patio was really inviting. The room was clean and spacious. However, I had the room behind the kitchen so if you can avoid that it should be OK. It was noisy starting 6 and the shower impossible to set. The location was out of town and taxis not readily available.
