Tinamou cottage. Located 5 to 10 minutes by car from the Boquete center (now all asphalt road !). Three romantic cottages with all comfort amongst nature. Privately situated in the jungle on the 22 Acre Habbus de Kwie estate. Imagine waking up in the morning with an orchestra of birds. Starting your day with delicious breakfast on your own private porch overlooking the jungle...While sipping one of the fines coffee on the world. Every morning a different Boquete coffee to taste ! Specially bird watchers and the nature lovers are invited to stay. Hope to meet you soon Terry & Hans

Terry and Hans were exemplary hosts in every way!! They were also good company, good humored, and highly knowledgeable in so many different areas that enriched our experience in Boquete. At every turn they skillfully anticipated things that would assist us in getting the most out of our time spent in Boquete. Staying at Tinamou added value to the rest of our days in Boquete in ways that are hard to appreciate until you step back into your life and relive your time there. Of a special note to those who travel specifically for the joy of witnessing nature, in my case birds,Terry is a bird guide of a rare breed. She is passionate, extremely knowledgeable about habitat, habits, calls and songs, etc etc, skilled at using her knowledge and sharing it with you! And as if that was not enough, she was exceptional as a companion during our shared time birding. The accommodation itself was comfortable, "comforting", clean, inviting, peaceful, and all in the extreme. Coffee, fruit, and cakes were devine. This may or may not be an accommodation for the backpacker set or the jet set, but it was perfect for this set, what ever this set is. Well done Hans and Terry for creating an amazing life and sharing it with others.…

Terry and Hans were wonderful hosts. The cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable. We liked the breakfast basket that was put in front of our door every morning. The garden is beautiful and there are a lot of hummingbirds on the balcony. We also did a hike with Hans in the cloud forest, that we really liked. I think the price per person was actually a bit high for the tour, but it was a very nice experience anyway.

Tinamou Cottages is in Boquete's jungle. We did get to watch resident monkeys play with each other. We did sit in the porch, sip coffee and listen to the sounds of nature. Hans is extremely knowledgeable and is an excellent Tour Guide. (I've taken two different tours with him during two separate vacations.) Hans and Terry are helpful. They will give you as much privacy as you want. They have created their own Paradise. Tinamou is not the Four Seasons; meaning it is not for everyone. It is not for people who have mobility issues. Very clean but it is in the woods so you will have some insects, mostly moths. But you will also enjoy birds, squirrels, monkeys and hummingbirds. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage furthest into the jungle. The shower is small for us wide bodies. It also drains into the bathroom floor rather than toward the drain. Continental breakfast is carb heavy: Fruit, bread and pastries. Hans took it upon himself to draw a map showing us how to circumvent Ciudad de David. Very much appreciated. I highly recommend Tinamou Cottages for people who want to enjoy nature and are physically fit.…

We (three Americans) stayed for three nights in Great Tinamou Cottage in the course of a two-week trip to Panama. When we arrived we were under the impression that we had only booked for two nights, but were thankful to have had the extra night, since Hans and Terry's hospitality was absolutely terrific. The property is really not all that far from town (though a rental car is handy; we got ours at the David airport and Hertz was able to fetch it from Tinamou on the morning we left), but it feels worlds away. Seriously: the forest around the cottages is incredibly lush and full of all sorts of birds and other wildlife. On our first morning at the cottage (eating the delicious fruits and pastries Terry prepared for us every morning in our breakfast basket, a lovely touch) a troop of white-faced capuchin monkeys passed by, never attempting to get on the porch or commandeer any snacks, but leaping from tree to tree and peering at us with interest. It was very, very special. Hans and Terry provided us with excellent advice about food and activities during our stay in Boquete (the Cafe Ruiz coffee tour and Pipeline Trail were both terrific), and if you are heading off to Bocas del Toro as we were doing (or vice versa), the tour from Boquete to the Caribbean that Hans conducts is really the only way to do it. The man is genial and a fount of information about the beautiful landscapes through which you travel. Do not hesitate, if you take his tour, to stop off at the Silico Creek indigenous village for the cacao tour. A day we otherwise would have wasted mostly in transit ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. The cottages are clean and wonderfully homey; more like staying at the vacation house of old friends than in a conventional bed and breakfast or resort lodge.…

We had a lovely time at this cottage. The hosts were incredibly helpful and even gave us a ride into town twice. The town itself really isn’t nice, so I’m glad we stayed outside. Breakfast was lovely!

This is a wonderful slightly out of the way place to stay if you are planning on visiting the Boquete area. Hans and Terry operate three charming cottages sort of in the middle of the forest. While the setting is rustic, each cottage is well-maintained, roomy, clean, and nicely furnished, with many of the furnishings made by Hans. Each cottage has a small kitchenette with a mini-refrigerator and burners. The smallest cottage also has a small oven. We had brought our own food so Hans and Terry actually lent us their microwave to heat dinner each night. We also took two excursions with Hans, one to hike in the cloud forest (if you go, bring a poncho and sweatshirt--it gets cold when it rains!) and the other to drive to the Atlantic side of the isthmus and view an indigenous village and cacao farm. He is a great and fun guide. Our time there was definitely a trip highlight.…

We stayed one night and just loved it!! We arrived by bus and Hans picked us up at the bus station. They even drove as to town the next day. The cottage was very nice with a lot of lovely detailes. The property has a lot of trails that you can explore and we even saw hummingbirds by sitting on our porch :D I would definitely recommend the cottages if you like the nature.

If you want a real jungle experience, this is certainly it! Very peaceful, nice trails to walk around and the cottage was nice and cozy. Amazing coffee in the morning. I have to admit the nature was a bit much for us, but entirely our fault. Hans and Terry were incredibly accommodating and helped us arrange our time in Boquete. Hans is such a source of information! Very interesting man! Thanks for everything.

My husband and I stayed four nights in December and agreed that this was one of the highlights of our 2+ week vacation in Panama. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and came complete with all of the amenities we needed. The location was perfect... less than 10 mins out of town in a beautiful and quiet setting in the hills. Despite the rain, there was plenty to do both in and around the grounds, from exploring the numerous hiking trails to drinking great coffee or wine on the porch and watching the hummingbirds. Best of all, Hans and Terry were terrific hosts. While they were on site and available, each individual cottage is quite private. Terry delivered a fantastic breakfast each morning, complete with delicious baked goods and a different local coffee. We booked a transfer tour with Hans to Almirante and could not have been more pleased. It saved us a day of flying back to Panama City and Hans' personal connection to the area made it more fun, educational and personal than a tour bus could ever provide. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable experience that feels private but is still close enough to town, this is the place!…

We had a wonderful experience staying at Tinamou Cottages while we explored the beautiful region of Boquete. The cozy and comfortable cottages are surrounded by forest and many birds. Our cottage had two bedrooms, a spacious common area, a large deck and a small kitchen. Hans was our guide on two excellent excursions and provided excellent recommendations for restaurants in town, which is a short drive away. We were very happy with our stay.
